BDRShield and Actifio both compete in the data protection and backup software category. While BDRShield gains an edge in usability and management features, Actifio's strength lies in delivering comprehensive database solutions.
Features: BDRShield provides robust functionality with automatic backup replication, central management, and impressive data compression. Actifio offers full database copies without equivalent storage consumption, supports test environments, and enables rapid recovery.
Room for Improvement: BDRShield requires improvement in support services, addressing time zone differences and enhancing backup automation deployment. Actifio needs to improve recovery speed, expand platform support, and strengthen customer support services.
Ease of Deployment and Customer Service: BDRShield is flexible with on-premises and hybrid cloud setups, yet falters in SLA adherence and response times. Actifio, used similarly, faces customer service delays though issues are resolved competently.
Pricing and ROI: BDRShield is cost-effective with flexible licensing, great for small businesses, offering significant savings and solid ROI. Actifio is competitively priced, targeting larger enterprises with notable ROI through time-saving features.
Their knowledge isn't great.
Not needing technical support is even better than good technical support.
Once we sorted out all our problems with Actifio and our configuration of our database and other components, I would probably rate stability about a seven.
I do see some problems with Actifio, specifically keeping current with operating systems.
There could always be little things that could still be fixed or improved for stability.
What really stands out in Actifio is that it can provide us full copies of the database without having full copies of the database.
The features I find most valuable are ease of backup, ease of restore, the full restore, just getting some data out of a backup server or even the applications that are in the server, going through the database or going to Exchange.
