Reliable image backups have protected our HMIs and simplified on‑premises recovery
We have not tried the vulnerability assessment feature yet because we have a different set of protocols for our cybersecurity. We conduct audits and plug the gaps as part of our security approach. We are not using AI with the anti-malware from Acronis; we are using it only for backup and recovery. On the backup and restoration side with Acronis Backup, some on-premises AI features which can detect anomalies may be something which would improve the product significantly. Otherwise, we are not very comfortable with cloud-based solutions at this time. We are looking for products which are entirely on-premises, so they remain within our control.

Simply provides single-vendor, consistent cloud-based backup
I would say that the room for improvement comes under the heading of performance. We backup a lot of information in a 24-hour period. It works fine. But there's always room for improvement on that. If they would make my 24-hour backup cycle window, from start to finish, a 15-hour or a 12-hour backup window, I'd be that much happier. Just to be clear, there's no time consumption on the part of my staff. This runs fully automatically. But the concern is that when you do backups, you want your backup window to be as narrow as possible. Actually, our backup window is 20 hours, and it gets done in 20 hours. Because, the longer it lingers, the more of a window there is for a disaster to knock you down.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"Acronis Backup is easy to use."
"The return on investment was great because it saved us many times, it saved our lives many times."
"Speed and the ease in which we recover full hard drives are valuable features."
"Due to some power failure our 10 systems crashed which were recovered in few minutes by the Acronis recovery partition."
"The main reasons that our customers like Acronis are that it is very strong and easy to use."
"The most valuable feature is its consistency."
"The good thing is that it's a central console, and in that console itself, we have multiple options, including a file sync option, the ability to take a second backup with the client's own cloud and a universal backup that is like a complete image of the server backup level, and that restoration is very good on the Acronis side compared to other products."
"Acronis Backup and Recovery with universal restore allowed me to get back online again."
"The most important features is that it provides consistent cloud-based backup."
"We don't think about our backups anymore, they're that reliable."

Cons

"It would be better if they made it easier to obtain images for laptops and desktops. It isn't easy right now to have many different types of desktop computers. This is because Microsoft is changing a lot of things in Windows 10."
"The product isn't very scalable."
"We would always support better pricing."
"They've got an agent to back up Microsoft SQL, to our Office 365, but there is not an agent to back up my SQL databases."
"I would like to have more cybersecurity integration to properly round up the product and its offering."
"One of my clients is using version 11.7, which I feel has quite a few bugs and is not easy to work with."
"The manual is too simple."
"GUI for management of backups. Using 11.5 more difficult with keeping on tabs with all backup schedules and status of backups, even when using the management console feature of the software."
"We backup a lot of information in a 24-hour period. It works fine. But there's always room for improvement on that."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"If the solution was less expensive it would be better."
"Acronis Cyber Protect's pricing is reasonable."
"The pricing model is a little complex to find the right size for what you need. It takes a lot of hours to figure it out."
"There are monthly fees to use Acronis Backup."
"Acronis Backup is cheaper. If you install it on a hypervisor, you only pay for a single license. It would be for the backup server, and everything else will be covered by it. In that sense, it becomes a much cheaper option. However, if you have virtual machines, then it can be more expensive. Also, if you have a lot of physical machines the cost can be higher because each entity will need a separate license. There is a monthly license cost."
"The current subscription model of Acronis Backup compared to other backup solutions is not costly."
"I find the pricing structure satisfactory, it is around $25 per year."
"I would say that at the pricepoint that it's at, it's definitely worth the money."
