What is our primary use case?
We usually give
Cambium Networks Wireless LAN to educational institutions, educational campuses, mainly educational campuses, and a few enterprises.
What is most valuable?
The cloud controller is one very good feature for us, because it is available free. We use that. Arista also has good features in the sense that once an access point is adopted to Arista cloud controller, it can only be used for a particular customer in specific premises. This ensures security and control over the usage. Cambium's wide signal coverage is beneficial. Ruckus offers a more extensive coverage range and has better capacity to withstand interference, which I have experienced with Ruckus products.
What needs improvement?
I would like to see better analytics tools in the future for
Cambium Networks Wireless LAN, similar to Cisco's proximity and presence analytics. These tools were very useful in high-density deployments like airport WiFi. Cambium currently lacks such extensive analytics capabilities.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been dealing with Cambium Networks Wireless LAN for the past four years.
What was my experience with deployment of the solution?
I don't see much of a challenge with deployment. Cambium Wireless LAN is easy to deploy, and it happens fast without issues.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I don't see any serious drawbacks.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Cambium Wireless LAN has good signal coverage. However, Ruckus provides better area coverage and interference withstanding capacity. This is something I have experienced with Ruckus products.
How are customer service and support?
Cambium's technical support is satisfactory, but Cisco's support is very good and ranks 10 out of 10.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
When I was with Convergent Wireless Communications, I was using
Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) naturally, but now I have moved to another organization that offers Ruckus and Cambium Networks Wireless LAN.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup doesn't take much time, and it happens fast without any issue.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
Cambium's pricing is better compared to Ruckus, which has multiple components with associated costs, like license support and access point support costs. Although nominal, these costs are still there.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
We offer Ruckus access points and Cambium Networks Wireless LAN, and sometimes Arista and Aruba products, but not
Mojo Networks.
What other advice do I have?
I can rate Cambium Networks Wireless LAN an 8 out of 10. Cambium is more economical compared to Cisco or Ruckus, which makes it suitable for budget-conscious customers. I would recommend it to those who are looking for an economical solution for their network.
