Easily accesses open solutions with seamless compatibility for testing and development

What is our primary use case?

Oracle VM VirtualBox is used to test applications and operating systems.

It should be for everyday use because when I want to test any operating system or servers that need to be tested, I test them on Oracle VM VirtualBox.

I am not sure about extensive usage as I did not scale that much. I use it only for my home labs, so I did not need to scale significantly.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature is the seamlessness. When I install a Linux operating system, I can use Windows applications through Oracle VM VirtualBox seamlessly.

There are many applications that work only on Windows. For desktop testing purposes, I used Oracle VM VirtualBox, and it works fine.

The guest OS compatibility was tremendous because I used Oracle VM VirtualBox on Linux and ran Windows applications on top of that, working seamlessly.

I use VirtualBox in almost all environments. I use it in testing, developing, and production, with very good results.

The product is very easy to use. It is very flexible. VirtualBox is available on almost all operating systems, like Windows, Linux, and macOS. These are the most important features of the tool. The solution is very easy to configure and adapts to my resources, even if they are small. It can easily adapt to any resource, from an old personal laptop to a medium-sized server.

The solution is versatile, simple to use, and stable

"The solution lacks some open source remote administration tools. The reload of individual virtual machine definitions through the vboxweb service (via its API) without restarting it and the access to shared storage (to use teleport functions) need to be improved."

I have mounted it with GlusterFS and I use it along with three on-prem physical nodes with Arch Linux's operating system and 12 VLANs to support around 50 VMs in different environments (TESTS, DEMOS, PRODUCTION).

The primary use case of the solution is to develop, test, and deploy solutions on multi-software platforms so that users can use solutions on different platforms such as Windows, Linux, Solaris, and Macintosh. This also will help users and groups to use the devices they are comfortable with and not depend on a specific platform. Users no need to wait for very powerful machines instead they can use their laptops or desktop to test or solve to see whether it really works or meet their needs. 

How has it helped my organization?

Oracle VM Virtualbox is easy to use and does not require much training. 

It uses fewer resources. Any user can configure it on my desktop or laptop and also it can be exported to VMware Center.

Teams using new operating system releases can quickly test and implement. This would make the development of new software releases faster and easier. It also helps users to write the program, test, and support it on multiple platforms.
