Fortinet FortiClient is used for remote users or users when they are back home and wanting to access their application in the office. Users connect to the firewall through Fortinet FortiClient and then access their internal resources, which is the major use case.

Fortinet FortiClient offers easy deployment and ease of use, unlike other solutions where significant installations on the user computer are sometimes required. It can be deployed remotely, making deployment beneficial and straightforward.

Fortinet FortiClient helps with security policy enforcement because all communication is encrypted when using the VPN. If you want to access internal resources, the connection path is entirely encrypted. This has helped reduce the attack surface significantly.

FortiGate has increased in pricing compared to the previous year due to extensive research and development. Nevertheless, it remains competitive compared to other brands and is quite a good product. However, there are many other brands emerging now, including Hillstone and WatchGuard, which will be stiff competition in the future.

Fortinet FortiClient is saving us time and money. Compared to other brands like Palo Alto or Check Point, those two are definitely more expensive. FortiGate pricing has increased compared to the previous year.

Fortinet is easier to configure than other solutions. Our engineers prefer to deploy Fortinet rather than other brands because those are more complicated from a technical side. Fortinet FortiClient is essentially a VPN client that is easier to install compared to others, and I cannot think of anything that needs improvement.

The VPN part requires configuration of all parameters to ensure the VPN is operational and the connection is established. When it is up and running, it feels like you are sitting in the office, making it very convenient for the customer.

Performance could be improved today. People are now moving toward SASE, which stands for Secure Access, Secure Edge Solution. Fortinet also has that offering, which would be easier since it operates through the cloud, acting as a first line of defense. When the user connects to the internet, they connect to the cloud first for posture assessment and monitoring before connecting to the outside world.

The impact is significant because nowadays people are adopting SASE. During COVID time, many users were trying to connect back to their office, causing the performance or CPU utilization of the firewall to increase tremendously, which slowed down performance.

I have not worked with endpoint telemetry in Fortinet FortiClient that could have been helpful for threat mitigation.

I have been dealing with Fortinet FortiClient for more than five years.

Fortinet FortiClient is stable. I would say Fortinet FortiClient is a stable product with no glitches or latency issues.

There is a limit of clients for the free version, but the free version means no support from Fortinet. Most of our clients are using the free version rather than the paid version due to the high range of maximum users available for the free version.

I interact with technical support from Fortinet, but only two years back, as mostly we liaise with the distributor. Our engineer can log cases to the principal when they do support, and for anything that needs help, they deal directly with Fortinet's technical support.

My experience with support is good, and the response time is good.

I work with Palo Alto once in a while, but not very frequently. I have only worked on one or two projects with them.

Deployment is very simple and involves easy clicking, making it simple for the customer when discussing VPN capabilities. The VPN part is free with a certain user limit.

The deployment is all on-premises with on-site deployment when discussing the firewall from Fortinet.

The solution is not cloud-based; it comes from the firewall itself.

We are a systems integrator company and we work with all networking products including KEMP and Fortinet.

We have extensive experience with FortiGate and work frequently with both Fortinet and KEMP, though KEMP is not as frequent.

We have sold Fortinet Firewall, FortiAnalyzer, FortiWeb, and we do a lot of firewalls, particularly Next Generation Firewalls. FortiWeb is a firewall service, specifically FortiWeb Cloud, which is Web Application Firewall as a service.

We are using Fortinet FortiClient and have deployed it for customers. There are some Fortinet products we have not yet worked with, including Fortinet Managed IPS or FortiOS.

We are integrators for the product and purchase through distributors because Fortinet only sells through them, not directly or through some marketplace.

Fortinet FortiClient is very simple to deploy with easy clicking and simple deployment for the customer when discussing VPN capabilities.

I rate the overall solution an eight out of ten on a scale from one to ten.

The main reason for choosing this solution was that it previously came with Fortinet FortiGate firewalls, NGFW. Though they are charging for it now, it still works seamlessly. In the last eight years, I have not experienced any infections or disruptions in services due to viruses, worms, or anything similar.

The first thing I really appreciate about Fortinet FortiClient is their preventive protection. Even if a new virus is released, they have a preventive mechanism built into their client, which works along with the firewall, so it automatically gets stopped.

Fortinet FortiClient has antivirus abilities, VPN capabilities, and many other built-in features that other clients do not have.

The solution is valuable, and the support is amazingly good. We rarely have to do configurations on our own as they are normally handled by their service providers.

They can improve the interface because it is very technical for a normal client to understand.

I have been using the solution for approximately eight to nine years.

Once we installed the solution, we never had to revisit it for any problems.

Currently their response time is very good. I normally get a call within 15-20 minutes after logging a complaint.

If it is not related to major changes in scenarios, the call gets closed within 15-20 minutes. They have well-trained staff.

Their models are specifically designed for a certain number of people. We normally take into consideration while installing the product that it can scale up to approximately 20%, but not more than that.

The support is amazingly good. In 99% of cases, we do not have to do configurations on our own as they are normally handled by their service providers.

We have never needed to ask for support from Fortinet FortiClient or FortiGate for certain scenarios.

The main competitor is Sophos. However, I do not consider them as a competitor because they do not have a solution comparable to Fortinet FortiClient.

I might consider two or three alternative solutions.

The solution is a little bit complex but it will work effectively. It is deployed on-premises. I am both a user and administrator of the system.

I primarily use remote VPN solutions to connect securely. We have configured both site-to-site VPN and remote VPN, and it is connected to FortiClient.

Implementing this solution has streamlined time management in our organization. Without SSO, we would need manual configuration for each PC, but now it's much more efficient.

The integration with Active Directory is a valuable feature, allowing SSO for users. This feature means less manual configuration and easier access as users only need to install the VPN and authenticate with their email address.

The tool becomes slow occasionally, and this should be improved. There are advanced features like Zero Trust that I currently do not use but could be beneficial for security.

Sometimes the speed can be an issue, as it gets slow.

We only have around 50 users, and the system is adequate for our needs, so scalability hasn't been a concern.

The support is satisfactory. I create a ticket, and they respond and work to resolve the issue. I am satisfied with their support.

We used Cisco AnyConnect and OpenVPN. Cisco AnyConnect was very good, and I didn't encounter any issues with it. OpenVPN is decent but can get slow.

FortiClient is included in a package with the UTM features, so there is no separate cost for it.

We have used Cisco AnyConnect, OpenVPN, and Untangle VPN.

I would recommend Fortinet for those who have a firewall. If they don’t, using OpenVPN is a viable open-source alternative. FortiClient works well for our needs, but it should improve in speed.

Fortinet FortiClient is used in the organization to provide secure VPN access, antivirus and malware protection. These security features are most effective for Network Security.

The solution helps save time and improves efficiency. The Fortinet FortiClient VPN features work together effectively for remote operations.

The Security Fabric feature is very powerful and compact. It integrates easily with other solutions such as FortiAuthenticator for Multi-Factor Authentication. The solution also works with Switch, Access Point, Firewall, and EMS Endpoint security applications. All these can be managed together with central management on the firewall. These features work very effectively together in cloud environments.

I strongly recommend this solution, especially for Fortinet customers who use FortiGate or other Fortinet products, as they can easily integrate these features and exchange information seamlessly.

The visibility and reporting features could be improved. The dashboard could be refreshed, and more customization features could be added.

I would like to see improvements in the dashboard for better reporting. Integrating the SIM and SOAR products with FortiClient would enhance control over the organization's management.
