Aruba gives you the same feeling as using a controller on-prem, whereas Meraki seems to be hiding a lot of the configuration behind the scenes and forces you to actually call them and ask them to enable certain features. So far, using Aruba Central is more like using an actual controller based on the amount of configuration you can do. Meraki just came out with profiles, but as far as I know, they don't have profiles for how your device connects to the actual physical LAN.”

What is our primary use case?

Our entire campus is using Aruba Networks Wireless WAN access points and controllers, including gateways. We have around more than five hundred access points installed and use them with two gateways and two controllers. I work for Brazilian Senate, which is in the public sector.

What is most valuable?

Aruba Networks Wireless WAN has a lot of functionality to explore. It is a very rich product in terms of functionality. Aruba Central and the cloud management have also proven to be a step ahead of the former AirWave platform. We are very satisfied with the solution as it delivers everything we need for our wireless network, including security, authentication, and integration with other platforms. Although we do not integrate with other enterprise products, we have an internal solution that we developed. We use ClearPass as a source of authentication, and it works very well.

What is our primary use case?

I am using it for three purposes: first, for the wireless access of myself as the end-user, second, as a TechX user. I use ClearPass as a TechX Plus for the authentication of all the network devices. Third, I am using it for NAC. I have just started the projects of NAC, so I have ClearPass OnGuard as a NAC agent deployed on my end-user mission.

What is most valuable?

The solution with central management is what I like about Aruba Networks. I appreciate the ease of deployment and management through the centralized console. Product-wise, NAC is also good, as are NAC and TechX. All the features are good, and I have no complaints about Aruba; everything is working fine. My business operations also benefit, as I use it mainly for the wireless access points. It's quite a scalable solution.

What is most valuable?

When it comes to the features of Aruba Networks Wireless WAN, we find the Wi-Fi roaming to be one of the most useful aspects because they have 802.11k and R, which are new technologies from Aruba. We also appreciate the Wi-Fi 6 and the channels that Wi-Fi supports because it's our main network, and we didn't have much LAN more than Wi-Fi.

The product offers a feature that pinpoints where the devices are to help users find them easily if they want to know where a laptop or tablet is, but it is a feature that needs improvements due to some shortcomings. The product helps detect which building a particular device is kept in, but it does not provide information on the floor or room in which the device is stored.

Technically and performance-wise, a sound solution that needs to improve its support

Simple to configure, easy setup, but support could improve
