We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable feature for me is that I can see what has has been successfully backed up and what not. I do not mean the file or folder view, because that's problematic with GDPR, but I mean which machines have successfully backed up. It's very valuable because you don't have to check the machines. The second feature is that you can change backup settings in the portal.""Client-side encryption minimizes worries about data being captured on the back-end.""One massive advantage of this solution, as compared to more enterprise products, is that no firewall changes are needed on the client's premises. For the product to back up from the client's premise to the cloud, it just needs port 8 and port 443, which are anyway always open. This was one of the things that made us decide to go with the product. It is very difficult to justify a firewall change for a small client who doesn't even know what a firewall is and how to maintain a firewall, or doesn't have anybody maintaining their firewall. You then have to maintain the firewall. MSP360 Backup takes away firewall change requirements, VPNs, or channels that are needed for the backup.""MSP360 Backup's most valuable feature is its backup interface.""The UI is pretty good. It's very simple. That is one thing that we like about this. It's very user-friendly.""The best feature is that it's very user-friendly to do scheduled backups and version maintenance.""The initial setup is very easy. It's not overly complex.""I was mainly concerned with cloud backups, OneDrive backups, consumer OneDrive, business OneDrive, Google backups, and SharePoint backups. The solution did a good job of the backup."

"The FlexClones make all the management easier for us.""CVO gives us the ability to access data as quickly as possible, which is critical because of the mission set we handle. Some things cannot wait. For example, we tried having the data in the cloud itself, but it took too long for us to retrieve it from cold or deep storage. If we have it ONTAP or on-prem, it's so much easier to pull it within minutes.""ONTAP is great for helping you migrate on-premise workflows to cloud environments.""The most valuable features are that it's reliable, simple, and performs well.""The ability to see things going back and forth has been quite useful.""It's very easy to set up, and within 40 minutes, you can apply storage notes in Azure.""The stability has been really good.""NetApp's Cloud Manager automation capabilities are very good because it's REST-API-driven, so we can completely automate everything. It has a good overview if you want to just have a look into your environment as well."

Cons
"The product could be more user-friendly.""The solution needs a better graphical user interface. It's a graphical user interface that is very old-school right now. They could give it a little more modern feel.""The graphics are looking a bit old and should be updated.""The restore time could improve. When we had an issue the restore time was lengthy.""There are some things that we don't like about it. That is why I was exploring alternatives in a hyper-scale environment. That is why I was checking IT Central Station.""The initial setup is a little complex as it has to be done in the office and requires someone to come in and install the solution on your server, then configure the scheduling, backup pushing, and so on.""As for what can be improved, some reports could be simplified so that you know how much backup you have done and what your backup details are. That report is available but it is very tough to get. I would like to know "today I have just uploaded 35 MB, tomorrow I have loaded 10 MB so my trend of backup is increasing."""The main improvement is that it should have GDPR compliance. That's the problematic point. They say they are GDPR compliant, but they are not."

"One difficulty is that it has no SAP HANA certification. The asset performance restrictions create challenges with the infrastructure underneath: The disks and stuff like that often have lower latencies than SAP HANA itself has to have.""I would want more visibility and data analytics where we can see anomalies within the shares within the GUI.""Multipathing for iSCSI LUNs is difficult to deal with from the client-side and I'd love to see a single entry point that can be moved around within the cluster to simplify the client configuration.""The solution could be better when we're connecting to our S3 side of the house. Right now, it doesn't see it, and I'm not sure why.""In the next release, I would like to see more options on the dashboard.""Their support and development teams can collaborate better to resolve an issue.""Cloud Volumes ONTAP's interface could use an overhaul. Sometimes you have to dig around in Cloud Manager a little bit to find certain things. The layout could be more intuitive.""I would like to see better integration with Active IQ."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It provides a good cost savings compared to our previous cloud backup."
  • "We have a very good return on investment."
  • "Pricing is reasonable although can be quite a large upfront cost."
  • "It includes a standard licensing fee. Once a year, there is a rebranding fee. The licensing costs are available on the internet for MSP360 Backup. There is a discount structure where if you have over 50 devices, you get a 50% discount. So, my cost is $2 a license per month."
  • "MSP360 is vastly cheaper than its competitors and has almost all the same features."
  • "The solution is expensive."
  • "The cost is pretty inexpensive. Around four to five dollars per device, per workstation on each server."
  • "I rate the price of MSP360 Backup a seven out of ten."

  • "Purchasing through the AWS Marketplace was good, but it was a test system, not a real purchase."
  • "We purchased the product directly from NetApp."
  • "The deal with the seller was acceptable; the pricing is reasonable."
  • "The AWS consumer-based pricing model makes it easy for developers to use their credit cards to spin up virtual servers immediately."
  • "Compared to other storage vendors, NetApp, is not always able to compete with their pricing. Yet, we acknowledge the ease of use ONTAP brings with the AWS integration."
  • "They allow a special price if you are working closely with them. Since we have a lot of NetApp systems, we got some kind of discount. That's something they do for other customers, not just for us. The price was fair. In addition to the licensing fees, you're paying Amazon for your usage..."
  • "The standard pricing is online. Pricing depends. If you're using the PayGo model, then it's just the normal costs on the Microsoft page. If you're using Bring Your Own License, which is what we're doing, then you get with your sales contact at NetApp and start figuring out what price is the best, in the end, for your company."
  • "In addition to the standard licensing fees, there are fees for Azure, the VMs themselves and for data transfer."
