Morpheus Pricing Advice

What users are saying about Morpheus pricing:
  • "We had 5,000 virtual machines. It seems that they initially wanted 200K for 5,000 virtual machines, and our procurement team has dropped that down to the 100K level. They license based on the number of virtual machines that Morpheus is managing. So, it is a pay-as-you-grow model."
  • "Licensing is on an annual basis, and it is upfront for the year. There is no extra cost unless you want additional support or specific deployment packs."

Astonishing automation capabilities, a lot of third-party integrations, and extremely simple upgrades
    Pros and Cons
    • "It supports many features, and it also supports some of the automation that Cloudify supports. So, in addition to just giving you basic platform management—such as the ability to deploy virtual machines and have multitenancy to log in and perform all of your basic platform management tasks—it also supports automation. You can, for example, spin up three virtual machines, and you can have each virtual machine configure each other. You can do service chaining with it. You can run scripts in Dash and Python, or you can use tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef. All of this is just built into the tool. It is a very powerful tool."
    • "The tool could support virtual network functions better. It is really good at doing enterprise-type of things, but one of the things on which we're working with them is loading very complex virtual machines with it, such as Juniper SRX routers. It needs to support more complex virtualized resources a little bit better. Aside from that, it is a terrific tool. We really like it."

What is our primary use case?

It is our primary cloud management tool. We've implemented it, and it runs in two labs in a production environment.

We are using its latest version.

How has it helped my organization?

We have 40 data centers around the country, and we use Morpheus as a way for people to log in and manage their virtual machines, cloud resources, containers, and just anything that they need to log in to and manage. It supports multitenancy. So, different groups can log in, but they see only their resources. They don't see other groups' resources.

    What is most valuable?

It supports many features, and it also supports some of the automation that Cloudify supports. It is a very powerful tool.

The automation capabilities in Morpheus are just astonishing, and it also supports a lot of third-party integrations out of the box. So, you don't need to write code. If you have a backup solution, such as Avamar, instead of you having to write all of the scripting and coding to make that work, they have plugins. You just install the plugin, and it snaps right into their GUI and works out of the box.

It is very easy to set up, and it is extremely simple to do an upgrade. It is one of the best upgradable solutions I've come across.

    What needs improvement?

The tool could support virtual network functions better. It is really good at doing enterprise-type of things, but one of the things on which we're working with them is loading very complex virtual machines with it, such as Juniper SRX routers. Cloud Management
    December 2022
Find out what your peers are saying about Morpheus Data, VMware, CloudBolt and others in Cloud Management. Updated: December 2022.
657,849 professionals have used our research since 2012.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using it for about a year. So, it is fairly new.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is very stable. We haven't had it crash, and we've been running it for a year.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is absolutely scalable. You can add new cluster nodes to it and scale horizontally. You can also scale vertically if you need to. You can break the database out of it and put it on a different machine. It is very modular.

We have a team of six administrators, and then we probably have 50 customers using it.

How are customer service and support?

They're very good at listening to the feedback and offering us the new features that we need. They are very proactive.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We pivoted to Morpheus when we realized that Cloudify couldn't meet all of our requirements for cloud management. We had a consultant who came in and mentioned it to us. So, we brought them in and did a proof of concept. We found that it does just about everything we need and more. So, we're now using it as our primary cloud management tool.

    How was the initial setup?

It is very easy to set up. Installing it is quite simple. Doing a greenfield install is pretty easy to do, and the upgrade process is also amazingly simple. I've never had an upgrade go wrong.

    What was our ROI?

We have absolutely seen an ROI. We haven't run an extensive business case to distinctly quantify the savings, but the savings have to do with reduced OpEx costs.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We had 5,000 virtual machines. It seems that they initially wanted 200K for 5,000 virtual machines, and our procurement team has dropped that down to the 100K level.

They license based on the number of virtual machines that Morpheus is managing. So, it is a pay-as-you-grow model.

What other advice do I have?

The advice I would give to others is to explore integrations and exercise automation. Its automation capabilities are very good, and it also supports a lot of third-party integrations out of the box. So, you don't need to write code.

    I would rate Morpheus a 10 out of 10.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

    Private Cloud

    Top 10
An extremely stable solution with multi-cloud and DevOps integrations, one-command installation, and extremely good support
    Pros and Cons
    • "The multi-cloud integrations and the DevOps and operational integrations are the most valuable. Morpheus platform is a centralized set to manage different clouds and your on-premise platforms. It does a very good job of what it is designed to do. It is very good in terms of features. It is extremely stable and easy to install. It is also very scalable. Their support is also extremely good."
    • "Morpheus is working hard on creating an integration framework due for release in Q2 2021 which will allow clients to create their own interfaces and integrations into any 3rd party product that has a full-function API. Morpheus is also heavily focussed on enhancing the container management side to compete head-to-head with Openshift and CloudForms in Q3 2021."

What is our primary use case?

Morpheus is a powerful self-service engine to provide enterprise agility, control, and efficiency. Quickly enable on-prem private clouds, centralize public cloud access, and orchestrate change with cost analytics, governance policy, and automation. Create private clouds, manage public clouds, and consolidate Kubernetes deployment. Provision applications from an on-demand catalog, API/CLI, ITSM, or infrastructure-as-code. Simplify authentication, set policies, and manage security posture.

How has it helped my organization?

Has enabled us to manage our on-premises VMWare infrastructure, and our destination public cloud infrastructure of AWS, Azure, GCP, and Huawei. We have been able to use the Morpheus platform to migrate services from on-premises into the public clouds, but making sure the necessary guardrails are in place to ensure we do not waste any money. Morpheus has also enabled us to start doing DevOps end-to-end in our organisation, and manage the day-2 operations on our public cloud infrastructure.

    What is most valuable?

The hybrid multi-cloud integrations enabling DevOps and operational integrations are the most valuable. Morpheus platform is a centralized set to manage different clouds and your on-premise platforms. It does a very good job of what it is designed to do. It is very good in terms of features.

It is extremely stable and easy to install. It is also very scalable. Their support is also extremely good.

    What needs improvement?

An integration framework is being released shortly which will allow for Morpheus customers to create their own integrations into any 3rd party product that has a full function API. This includes (but not limited to) additional cloud integrations, operational tools, and even development / DevOps tools that might be required.

For how long have I used the solution?

https://seal.africa have been distributing Morpheus into Africa for over a year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is extremely stable, and built with full HA capabilities across any platform or clouds.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is a highly scalable product where we got a clients ranging from 50 workloads right up to 300,000 workloads on a single platform. It is designed for large organizations that generally have got AWS, Google, and Azure and an on-premise environment, which causes these companies to have multiple operational teams for each one of those platforms.

In Africa, there are probably about 80 organisations using this solution across enterprises and Managed Service Providers (MSPs), and in Europe and America, there are probably 200 organisations.

How are customer service and technical support?

Their technical support is extremely good. I am satisfied with their support.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We had investigated all the competitor products such as CloudBolt, SNOW Enbotics, and Rightscale Flexera, however none of these product had a full feature set as Morpheus does. Each of the competitor products has their own value proposition, however are more focussed on their key competencies rather than a broad set of features.

    How was the initial setup?

Its installation is straightforward. It is just one command. The whole thing is orchestrated. Its installation takes about 40 minutes.

    What about the implementation team?

It has a single-command deployment. In terms of management, clients can manage it on their own, or they can outsource the management to people like myself. The platform has a full featured API and CLI providing powerful management capabilities.

    What was our ROI?

Generally the ROI is under 12 months!

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Licensing is on an annual basis, and it is upfront for the year. There is no extra cost unless you want additional support or specific deployment packs.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Yes, we evaluated: CloudBolt, Hypergrid, Jamcracker, CloudHealth, Scalr, SNOW Embotics, Rightscale Flexera, ServiceNow, MicroFocus, CloudCheckr, CoreStack, VMWare vRA, VMWare vCloud Director.

What other advice do I have?

I would definitely recommend this solution. I would rate Morpheus a ten out of ten and revolutionary in this space.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

    Hybrid Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

    Amazon Web Services (AWS)
