My main use case for Devtron Enterprise is AI-native Kubernetes application management.

A specific example of how I use Devtron Enterprise in my daily work is for Kubernetes application management, combining Kubernetes management, CI/CD, GitOps, security, observability, cost optimization, and multi-cluster management into a single platform. I use all those features and integrate many of those things, as it supports Kubernetes-native CI/CD, has multi-cluster management, GitOps, security features such as RBAC, single sign-on, and audit logs, as well as observability and cost optimization.

Most of the time, I use it for multi-cluster management to manage multiple Kubernetes clusters from one dashboard, and it supports AWS EKS and any other cloud providers.

Devtron Enterprise has positively impacted my organization by improving efficiency and reducing manual effort.

After adopting Devtron Enterprise, I noticed that approximately 20% of our manual effort was reduced.

The best feature that Devtron Enterprise offers is the Kubernetes-native CI/CD integration, allowing me to build my CI/CD pipeline on Kubernetes natively. It already includes Kubernetes controllers and operators, which are written by Devtron and provided to me. With the help of that, I build CI/CD pipelines and deployment pipelines, and I can also do GitOps using it, which performs rollbacks and multi-stage approval. I can conduct blue-green deployment, canary deployment, and AB deployment or AB testing—all achievable using that.

Regarding the features, security has many valuable aspects. By default, Kubernetes provides RBAC and all that, and on top of it, Devtron Enterprise provides many other functions such as policy management, compliance controls, audit logs, and single sign-on. Everything can be done using Devtron Enterprise, and observability can also be performed through a built-in dashboard where I can see all the logs of pods and deployments, including metrics and events. It easily integrates with Prometheus, Grafana, and Loki, and it just takes some time to follow the documentation to integrate with all these tools.

One area for improvement in Devtron Enterprise is that I find the UI somewhat complex, and it can be improved. Additionally, the initial setup can also be complex in larger environments such as ours, requiring Kubernetes knowledge. The documentation could also be improved.

Currently, support for Devtron Enterprise is good and responsive, but the documentation and the UI should be better.

Before choosing Devtron Enterprise, I evaluated Platform9, which is a Kubernetes management tool, and did research on Kasten. However, Devtron Enterprise provides an all-in-one solution that combines cost optimization, cluster management, and all of that, which is why I continued with it.

My advice for others looking into using Devtron Enterprise is to look into your company's requirements and choose the product accordingly, as Devtron Enterprise is pretty good for managing Kubernetes clusters and allows for cost optimization. It is solely for Kubernetes, so if you have Kubernetes and a user range from 500 to 5 million, then you can start using Devtron Enterprise. I would rate this product 8.5 out of 10.

Devtron Enterprise serves as our primary CI/CD platform for Kubernetes, and all of our workloads are managed and deployed through it. Developers manage their own workloads, and DevOps and platform teams use it for all admin tasks. We also use Devtron API keys for several automations regarding our Kubernetes visualization, visibility, and observability.

A specific example of how my team uses Devtron Enterprise in our daily workflow is when we need to onboard a new application or microservice to Kubernetes. We can create a new Devtron application with dev, staging, and production pipelines. We can configure our Dockerfile and source code repository, build our application, and deploy it. We can monitor our application pods and configure ingress entirely within Devtron. Everything is done through Devtron, and we use it to manage our entire Kubernetes workload and CI/CD pipelines.

The best features Devtron Enterprise offers include its user interface, which is very simplistic and easy to understand, providing just the right components to visualize your current state and identify what is currently wrong. It abstracts the need to run manual kubectl commands and visualizes everything running in your workload and cluster. That helps significantly.

The entire workflow creation is very simple in Devtron, making it easy to onboard a new microservice. What makes the user interface so easy and useful for my team is its simplistic design. The team has followed a consistent theme in button placement, and everything is perfect. There are no components that add unnecessary noise, just the right amount of components and visualizations.

The way Devtron Enterprise abstracts all the underlying infrastructure through its user interface helps tremendously for non-technical people unfamiliar with Kubernetes. Even developers and other people unfamiliar with Kubernetes nomenclature can monitor their workloads. This is invaluable compared to not having that user interface and visibility abstraction, as many people wouldn't understand what is happening in their deployment or if their pod has crashed.

Devtron Enterprise has positively impacted my organization by significantly reducing the bandwidth required of the DevOps team in managing CI/CD pipelines. Every application owner has access to deploy and build their own pipelines, so they are not dependent on the DevOps team unless it is a critical workload. The entire bandwidth that previously went into manually managing thousands of workloads has now gone to zero. Since we started using Devtron Enterprise, we have saved hundreds of hours. Regarding support tickets, I do not know if we would have the current bandwidth to support the amount of workload that was reduced by Devtron if it were not available. It has been a tremendous help and success since we onboarded Devtron Enterprise.

Devtron Enterprise can be improved with better support. A lot of times, we need specific feature requests that take considerable time. The support could be more curated and specific to the company's needs rather than being generic.

I have been using Devtron Enterprise for about 1.5 years, which is the same time since I have been in the company.

It helps significantly, especially if you have multiple large clusters and substantial infrastructure to manage. Devtron Enterprise will help you achieve your goals. My main use case for using Devtron Enterprise is to simplify Kubernetes deployment workflows.

In our microservices-based applications, I use Devtron Enterprise to manage deployment pipelines which have multiple Kubernetes environments including staging, production, and development. When developers commit code changes, it is triggered with automated builds and container image creation. Then Devtron Enterprise deploys these images to the staging environments for testing. After validation, the same pipeline promotes the deployment to production. This automated process reduces deployment errors and improves release speed.

The best use case I have observed for the organization using Devtron Enterprise is running containerized applications on Kubernetes because it is valuable for teams adopting GitOps practices and microservices architecture. The platform has helped to manage multi-cluster deployments and CI/CD workflows. It also supports enterprise governance, which includes RBAC (role-based access control) and policy management, which is very important for a large team to have role-based access. It has the capabilities and is ideal for cloud-native development teams.

The best features I appreciate about Devtron Enterprise include Kubernetes-native CI/CD pipeline automation, which is designed purely for Kubernetes pipeline automation, as managing Kubernetes infrastructure is not straightforward for everyone. Devtron Enterprise provides prebuilt workflows that simplify application deployment without requiring any complex architecture. It also offers GitOps-based deployment management and role-based access. Additionally, another helpful feature I have observed is a visual dashboard for monitoring application deployments. I can monitor the application deployment visually, so I can see the workflow, how it is flowing, and what the status of the deployment is.

Devtron Enterprise has significantly simplified my Kubernetes deployment workflow. Earlier, I had multiple tools for CI/CD deployment and monitoring, which increased operational complexity. For CI/CD, I was using another tool, and for monitoring, I was using another tool. Because of Devtron Enterprise, it has become a centralized dashboard for CI/CD, GitOps, and monitoring in one place and on a single platform. It gives better visibility and access control for me to operate everything on one platform.

It has reduced team time significantly. One team was responsible for the GitOps-related operations including CI/CD, code push, and code pull, while the other team managed monitoring after deployment. Now, time has been reduced and speed has increased, so my team can focus more on development rather than on infrastructure management.

Devtron Enterprise can be improved by enhancing customization options for complex enterprise workflows. The platform provides strong automation features, but ideal scenarios may require additional flexibility. Improved analytics and performance insights could also help teams optimize deployments. Additionally, advanced debugging tools would further improve troubleshooting because troubleshooting is a main concern. If developers get stuck or some builds fail, advanced debugging tools would help solve the problems and errors.
