Backup operations have become reliable and reporting now simplifies hybrid cloud protection
Veeam Data Platform has Veeam Enterprise Manager as well as Veeam ONE as valuable features, which allow us to generate various kinds of reports that are required for the customer. Instant VM Recovery is a good feature of the high-speed recovery features in Veeam Data Platform, and Continuous Data Protection (CDP) is also a good feature. Ransomware protection is a good feature added in Veeam Data Platform from version 12 onwards, and the ability to create immutable repositories is also a good feature in Veeam. The analytics part of Veeam Data Platform is a good solution because I have worked on various backup technologies such as EMC NetWorker and NetBackup. However, I have not used the analytical parts currently but will check it out. Streamlining processes as well as saving money are benefits that Veeam Data Platform provides for the end user, as it allows for application-aware backups and database backups without the need for various kinds of licenses that other backup software requires. Veeam offers socket-based licenses, instance-based licenses, and capacity-based licenses, which is a great feature.

Seamlessly integrated backup solution with clear UI and affordable pricing
We wanted a backup on an external provider of our old code repository and we chose this solution Thanks to the solution, we have more control for ISO 27001, which is equivalent to SOC 2 in America. It is required for all security compliance. The seamless integration, the clear and easy-to-use…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Veeam is cheaper than our older solution and more reliable, and we spend less time to check and relaunch daily backups in error."
"Veeam Backup Replication is secure, they have covered almost every aspect, both in terms of security and backup and management, integration with various applications such as on-premises laptops and desktop backups as well as applications and databases is excellent, and they have added cloud integration which is a plus."
"Technical support from Veeam is great; if you have an issue, they can help you really fast, they know what to do, they ask the right questions to get deep into the problem if you have something complex or difficult, and they'll help you install a patch so that everything is fine."
"It provides a much better user experience compared to other vendors. It works faster as well."
"Once you get it set up, everything is smooth, and the recovery is excellent."
"The features that I have found most valuable are its back up and recovery, as it is a simplified backup because you can do both databases - VM and HyperV, and it is a faster backup than the conventional methods because it takes up the bare metal."
"Sandbox feature is like a power tool for troubleshooting."
"The solution's most valuable aspect is its ability to make use of an appliance to use as a staging disk to allow us to make fast recoveries directly from the bridge, helping us avoid using the communication links."
"The seamless integration, the clear and easy-to-use UI, and the pricing, which is fairly cheap, are all valuable aspects of the product."

Cons

"Veeam has been raising its prices in the last two years, so it's now lacking some competitiveness in pricing, becoming too expensive compared to other solutions in the market."
"The tech support needs improvement."
"There is always some room for improvement, especially with some of the different technologies such as DB2. Commvault has a DB2 agent, but Veeam still doesn't have it. We have to use the universal one for it."
"This VMotion feature is not mastered by any expert and we don't use it for replication."
"It is not easy to navigate, especially with the numerous reports available."
"The initial setup of Veeam Backup Replication is straightforward. The process took approximately two days. The setup could be streamlined to take less time."
"The only improvement I could think of is it could be cheaper—cheaper is always good."
"We relied on the cloud backup, however, the data in the cloud ended up also getting corrupted due to the ransomware."
"They force you to use the web UI or SaaS platform to restore the backup."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The licensing is the worst part of Veeam Backup Replication because for the more complex situations and it's quite difficult and complex. In particular, when mixing different requirements the licensing model is complex. For example, mixing a virtual machine backup and a file server backup in the same installation can be somewhat difficult and is expensive."
"This product is not cheap, but it's well worth the cost."
"The licensing fee depends on the licensing model we choose."
"The licensing is based on the number of cores you have in your ESX or Hyper-V environment."
"It is more cost-effective than some of the other solutions, but a lot of that comes down to the fact that we're a reseller. So, depending upon the deal, we do negotiate different price points for different customers. The price varies depending upon the size of the customer, the size of the deal, and the discounts we can negotiate."
"We use the community edition of the Veeam Backup Replication and it is a software-based license. It can be a little expensive."
"Veeam ONE is cheaper when you compare it with one of its competitors in the ops space, VMware vRealize Operations. There's a separate department that deals with the licensing, but my company is using CSP licensing, which is the service provider licensing, so my company doesn't fall under the normal volume at the Veeam Universal licensing program. The cost is commit-based and depends on what your point commit is. The point commit works differently, and it's similar to your sales provider license. If you commit to using one thousand five hundred points, you get a certain price. If you commit to using the eight hundred points scheme, you get a certain price. As you grow the point scheme, you get a different price range, so it doesn't matter whether you're using Veeam One, Veeam Availability Suite, Veeam Backup and Replication, Orchestrate, or whatever the product is."
"We pay every month for Enterprise Plus. There are no additional costs."
