Customization capabilities allow clients to autonomously deploy policies
There are a few areas where Trellix Endpoint Security ( /categories/endpoint-protection-platform-epp ) can improve. Firstly, the high CPU utilization when agents are installed can negatively impact client systems. Another issue is with end-users outside the network, where the agent handler sometimes fails to deploy the product properly. Improvements are needed in forensic analytics to detect specific vulnerabilities. It would also help if detection specifics were identified more quickly and the problem-solving process accelerated, especially to meet larger clients' expectations.

Easy to deploy, good price, low overhead, and keeps our Servers and PC's free of virus'
Their management interface is a little buggy as it will hang up and crash from time to time. Although It requires more system resources than the desktop client, adding additional resources' ex. CPU and Memory don't seem to improve it. Its reporting can also be improved as the executive and patching reports are missing the ability to provide what groups of PC's are included in the reports. Also, It's great they patch some third-party software, but it is a limited list expanding this would be a huge improvement. I'm yet to see it properly handle USB Device control.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable features of the solution include DLP (data loss prevention), CASB (cloud access security broker) functionality, endpoint encryption, and cloud workload security."
"The product’s stability and security features enhance user protection and organizational security."
"The thing that I like is that they have gathered almost all the products in one management server, the ePolicy Orchestrator."
"This product has the capability to check a wide range of vulnerabilities and devices."
"Automatic user recovery prior to Windows booting up."
"The solution is stable."
"The most valuable features of Trellix Endpoint Security include its protection capabilities such as DNS and endpoint security, DNS threat prevention, as well as advanced threat prevention."
"It provides a robust defense against cybersecurity threats while offering user-friendly features like notifications and approval prompts."
"It has low overhead as far as machine resources are concerned. Everything runs faster with VIPRE installed versus some of the competitors. It has also been pretty easy to use. It just runs and gives us reports. It also sends us alerts when there is something that we need to look at. It does its job, and you just look at the reports. In other ways, you just forget that it is there."
"In general, it was pretty easy to manage."

Cons

"There is room to improve with scalability."
"Trellix lacked email protection when it was a McAfee product. They added this feature during the merger with FireEye, but it hasn't been fully integrated. The core features will be integrated into the next release. FireEye has several solutions for EDR and sandboxing."
"With McAfee, if there is a zero-day vulnerability, you have to download the patch for it from the McAfee website, then apply it to your endpoint."
"If there's a possibility for remote assistance or investigation support in the future, it would be beneficial. Currently, we use another remote software for such purposes. If this feature could be included in the next version, that would be an improvement. The feature is called Remote Administration. I'm somewhat satisfied, but there's an issue I recently encountered. When attempting to scan a suspected host machine, Symantec Endpoint Security did not provide any alerts. However, when we installed Malwarebytes and ran a scan, it detected a threat that wasn't identified by Symantec. We raised this concern with the team for resolution, and the investigation is still ongoing."
"Signatures to protect against new attacks."
"The solution takes up a high amount of memory and can cause the system to hang."
"The DAC (Dynamic Application Containment) component of this product needs improvement."
"Sometimes, while installing the ePO, we were getting so many errors and I don't know why it happened."
"We would get a lot of false positives and instead of them fixing the false positive, they would just want us to put in an exception, which I didn't care for."
"Their management interface is a little buggy. It requires a few system resources on the management interface. Its reporting can also be better. Overall, the reports are pretty good. They patch some third-party software, but if they can expand what they do for reporting and patch enterprise software, it would be handy."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Its price is very high. It is higher than its competitors, and it should be less."
"Compared to Bitdefender, Trellix Endpoint Security is more expensive, but considering it comes with DLP, the solution's price is fine."
"For each computer that is connected to the server McAfee charges us for each computer based on our license agreement."
"The product is expensive."
"Licensing is paid yearly."
"Pricing is reasonable and runs at a cost per user per year."
"The pricing is great and licensing fees are billed on a yearly basis."
"I am happy with the pricing."
"Its price point has been phenomenal. Our previous solution from Trend Micro was triple the cost of it."
"Its price point has been phenomenal. Our previous solution from Trend Micro was triple the cost of it."
