Monitors traffic effectively but struggles with integration challenges
I find that the technical support is mediocre, at least for the Middle East. I frequently face challenges when contacting OpenStack through the distribution channel. It should be more straightforward. I notice that customers work with partners, not directly with Symantec, relying on local company integrators for support. Symantec becomes the level two or level three support, which requires navigating through a supply chain that is quite extensive.

Provides basic email protection features but needs improvement in learning capabilities
TitanHQ does a middle-of-the-road job like Bitdefender and SensorNet, and it has a learning feature, though it's not as advanced as previous technology. In the past, I used a far superior product with no false alarms and minimum spam. This tool learned quickly from my inbox, offering simple yet useful features, such as two links embedded in the email footer indicating whether the email was spam or not.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It is a stable solution."
"It offers an easy initial setup."
"The most valuable features are the website blocking capability and SSL interception."
"Scalability is not really any major issue, it is quite scalable and if we need to do more deployments, we just add them."
"The most valuable feature is the endpoint security."
"It is easy to manage. The graphical user interface is quite easy to navigate, and we don't have any difficulty in using it. It is a good solution."
"Overall, this product is okay and it does the job that it is supposed to do."
"It has a faster implementation process compared to other products."
"I can't think of very much that needs improving in the solution."
"The WebTitan Content Filter has been the best product I have implemented!"
"Using this solution has helped to boost productivity in the company."
"The main example of how it has improved our operations is from a sheer administration standpoint."
"The solution is very easy to implement and to set up, especially from an administration point of view."
"Not a whole lot of oversight is required after WebTitan is installed. I get email notifications and occasionally browse the reporting. This is pretty important because I don't have the bandwidth to actively monitor all this stuff 24/7. It is just not possible. Therefore, it is important that it doesn't require a lot of my time once it is deployed and working."
"The most valuable feature is web filtering, where we are able to blacklist and whitelist sites on the fly."
"WebTitan’s Web filtering has helped improve the quality of service that we offer to customers, which is pretty important."

Cons

"The interface could be made more user-friendly."
"Depending on the severity of the issue, I think they can be a bit slow - a few days for the low severity cases, but for the severe cases normally they contact you back in a couple of hours."
"I think the worst thing that we're experiencing is very poor and inadequate technical support."
"The problem with Complete Website Security is with the dot com transition and dealing with Symantec is becoming a problem right now."
"The major challenge is their support. The support from Broadcom is quite poor. It takes forever for them to get back to you, and when they get back to you, they ask you for so much information, which makes it more difficult. That's the only problem I have with Broadcom. This is one of the reasons why we are switching to another solution. Another reason for switching is that we have a plan to adopt solutions in the cloud so that we can offload the administration efforts to the vendor. In future releases, they can improve its reporting and the process for rules creation. They can also improve Broadcom on things such as security information and event management so that from my same platform, I can carry out functions and probably block websites. Such a feature would be nice. Currently, Broadcom is integrated with McAfee to block access to certain sites automatically. It would be nice if they can expand their integration to IBM Resilient Security Orchestration and Automation Response."
"The major challenge is their support; the support from Broadcom is quite poor, it takes forever for them to get back to you, and when they get back to you, they ask you for so much information, which makes it more difficult."
"It's not user-friendly, and we end up making too many phone calls to get things fixed."
"The platform’s data center is not capable of managing most of the traffic."
"One issue that they have just solved is that there's a new interface for paying bills. I had an issue when I tried to pay with our debit card last year, but with the new payment interface, they have solved that."
"We have had a couple of instances where tickets have been closed without getting a true resolution."
"WebTitan could improve the software module and the platform's overall stability, and its competitors have a more sophisticated user interface. We have found some bugs as well as some issues with functionality and security that we've already forwarded to TitanHQ."
"I would like to have a live chat feature with their support. This is one of the things that I like that they haven't offered yet. If they have live support, then at least I can work with an engineer when I have a problem and not have to wait for the engineer to respond."
"The interface is a little dated and a little awkward at times. That's a minor problem. It's workable."
"I wasn't aware of WebTitan's Azure AD integration until now. The takeaway is that those types of enhancements should be broadcast from TitanHQ a little more openly than they are."
"The documentation could always be better. That's true for any organization."
"Sometimes it has been a little cumbersome to get the whitelisting just right. But that would be the only thing I've had any problems with."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Pricing and licensing is stunted and licensing is expensive. We have many customers who are now thinking about other solutions due to the cost."
"There is an additional charge for advanced security features."
"Symantec Secure Web Gateway is less expensive than one of its competitors."
"The licensing, although I can't remember the exact cost, was very affordable. I want to say it was maybe $40 per license."
"The cost could be lower, though it is not currently prohibitive for larger companies."
"The pricing is good. It's a substantial cost, but they've held their prices over the years, which has been good."
"The pricing of WebTitan is good. It's the right price. We paid more and more for Cisco Umbrella."
"WebTitan helps reduce costs associated with web filtering. In the event that somebody was compromised due to browsing the Internet, there will be at least one device offline. The time and energy spent cleaning that thing up and getting it back online, as well as having that user set up with some sort of a solution so they can continue working, makes it well worth the money. If a single device has been compromised, my time and the potential of having to buy additional hardware is worth at least a couple thousand dollars. Worst case scenario, if our entire organization or the majority of our organization got compromised, then it could get into the 50,000-plus for recovery. It depends on if it is a massive ransomware attack where it has pretty much crippled our entire business."
"We pay an annual subscription for this. They have good pricing. They are not expensive compared to other solutions that we evaluated. I like the fact that it is just one price for the year. I don't have to worry too much about fluctuations."
"For licensing, if I remember right, we told them how many users we have, and they told us the price, which we okayed. There were no add-ons. There might be a slight increase like everybody else, but there weren't any add-ons."
"There are lots of products out there, and most of them are a lot more expensive. Overall, I'm very happy with SpamTitan. It has been a great solution for a very small library."
