Automated backups have transformed our multi-account recovery and now streamline compliance reporting
While N2WS has served us well, there are areas for improvement. The user interface feels somewhat dated and could benefit from modernization. Navigation between sections could be more intuitive, and the dashboard design could be more streamlined compared to contemporary AWS tools. The initial setup process has a steeper learning curve than we’d prefer, especially for complex multi-account configurations. More guided setup wizards would help new team members get up to speed faster. Reporting capabilities could be more granular, particularly around cost optimization metrics and backup performance analytics. Currently, we need to gather information from multiple screens to get comprehensive insights. For future releases, we’d value enhanced integration with AWS native services like Config and CloudTrail for better compliance reporting. More advanced scheduling options that adjust based on application load would also be beneficial. Better support for newer AWS services as they’re released would help us maintain comprehensive coverage as our infrastructure evolves. Additionally, native integration with popular ITSM tools beyond email notifications would improve our workflow automation.

Simple and flexible backup solution
I mainly use Cloud Connect as a cloud backup repository Cloud Connect's best features are its simplicity, flexibility, and constantly-expanding options. I've been using Cloud Connect for about four years. We encountered some issues with stability at the beginning, but these were fixed after…

"Having multiple policies and schedules handled for me takes the burden out of managing backups across multiple departments."
"Provides easy, one-click functionality and flexible backup policies and schedules for AWS workloads."
"Overall, N2WS has transformed our backup operations from a manual, error-prone process into a reliable, automated system that scales with our growing AWS infrastructure."
"Overall, the product is successful with the SMB market, which means that price and service costs are aligned with the SMB market and well accepted by customers."
"The most valuable feature is that it is very elastic. It's adaptable because it's very flexible and modular."
"The most valuable feature is the snapshot capability."
"I like the fact that it gives you the possibility to set the data out of the customer on-premises site and to have an off-site copy in your Cloud Data Center."
"This solution works really well and it is simple to deploy."
"I like this solution and recommend it to clients."
"The solution is already far more advanced than our customers require. It offers advanced scripting and automation pre-testing to support the custom library and custom tasks."

Cons

"There is room for improvement in stability."
"The process for version upgrades, which sometimes requires deploying a new instance, could be streamlined to allow for a more seamless in-place update."
"The GUI has room for improvement."
"I would like to see native support for more AWS services beyond EC2 and EBS, such as full coverage of RDS, DynamoDB, and Redshift."
"They could expand their offering to include Lambda function backups and other native AWS services, as these can be recreated through CloudFormation or Terraform."
"More documentation would be helpful, especially some step-by-step documents for recovery scenarios."
"An additional feature within resource control would be to automatically downgrade volumes to a cheaper storage tier through a policy or when instances are stopped via the resource manager."
"Pricing can increase as backup volumes grow, so it is important to balance the level of protection with cost-optimization strategies such as tiering snapshots to S3 or Glacier."
"I would like to see more advanced training courses made available to cover complicated use cases."
"Basically, a huge amount of storage capacity can be required in certain cases."
"It would be helpful if the enterprise edition was more complete. It's not as complete as the enterprise plus edition is."
"The security of encrypted data could be better."
"The pricing is much higher than what our clients expect it to be."
"The solution should allow for interfacing with other public cloud vendors. They could work to build something around that concept."
"There are some issues with the cloud providers for Veeam Cloud Connect that do not support all the features."
"I think the pricing could be improved and I also think archiving could be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It's very economical and worth the cost."
"It has very good pricing per instance and comes with three options, for both small and large environments, to fit your needs."
"The pricing and licensing on AWS is fine, because you can do it for smaller tiers depending on your number of instances, so it's not that scary."
"The purchasing process through the AWS Marketplace is easy. Just click the button."
"AWS adds more features and offer things for free, or cheaply. Therefore, we will be evaluating AWS Data Lifecycle Manager, because it will probably do backups. Thus, make sure the product that you are using is competitive or adds more value than AWS."
"The price is not cheap, nor is it costly."
"We are looking into how we can extend the license of this product."
"It's not the cheapest solution on the market but it's reliable, so we find it cost-effective."
"The licensing fee is on a monthly basis."
"The price of the solution could be cheaper. There are monthly or yearly subscription options available. The annual subscription tends to be cheaper."
"The price of the solution is reasonable because of our good standing with the vendor."
"I think that this is one of the most cost-effective solutions."
"The licensing is MSP-based. It is connected to the portal, and you can deploy it to your end users as well."
"The pricing of Veeam Cloud Connect is good."
