Advanced protection enables us to confidently secure against evolving threats
Palo Alto Networks can improve Advanced Threat Prevention by catering to the growing adoption of AI and agentic tooling. The Threat Protection modules should have the necessary intelligence to protect against those types of threats, as AI will be there to do a human job; this is an evolving area. From an Advanced Threat Protection perspective, the technology associated with Palo Alto Networks, such as their sandboxing environment, is quite good. However, Palo Alto needs to focus on how to bring that technology to end users and how easy it is to use, especially in a hybrid environment where users work from various locations. While Palo Alto excels in certain setups, they need to improve the user experience in distributed working conditions.

I haven't seen threat intelligence and machine learning for predictive threat analysis in the Trellix Intrusion Prevention System yet. For Trellix IPS, AI improvements are an area where it can improve. It's a significant feature. Regarding the Trellix Intrusion Prevention System's flexibility for catering to our organization's specific infrastructure requirements, we have only on-premises and virtual appliances, but it's acceptable. The access and platform could potentially integrate with SaaS. Similar to when you put the EPO in mode integration with SaaS, you can connect with a local credential and with an X Console credential. Another possibility would be to connect with an integration login with the X Console. We have this with EPO on-premise, but with IPS, we don't have it.

Pros

"The initial setup was straightforward. It's quite easy. Deployment took one to two weeks."
"It's very easy to use and configure. What is nice about Palo Alto is that even if you don't understand how to use it, you can just click on upload and upload everything that needs to be blocked."
"The user interface is a bit more professional than some free products."
"The stability of Palo Alto Networks Threat Prevention is good."
"The most valuable feature is its use of machine learning to detect potentially unknown threats."
"The sandboxing tools offer great prevention for cloud feeds."
"I find the malware protection very handy."
"The application control and vulnerability protection are the most valuable features."
"The most valuable features are the customization of the signature and the unlimited amount of signatures in IPS."
"McAfee NSP is much more stable than Cisco."
"The initial setup is straightforward."
"The ability to centrally manage all the IPS sensors, track the different security events generated by it, and customize the different policies, depending on their location."
"The solution can scale."
"Overall the solution is very good. It offers great protection and gives us a good overview of what is on the network."
"The most valuable features of the solution stem from the fact that it is a good product for dealing with DDoS attacks and for the inspection of network traffic."
"It has a lot of functions, such as firewall. We are administrators, and we create some rules to protect our network. We also monitor the traffic in and out and have disk encryption on-premises. When we detect malware, we scan for the virus on the PC. We can then delete or block the malware."

Cons

"In terms of what needs improvement, the only thing I don't like is the support."
"Palo Alto Networks Threat Prevention could improve the commercial offing. Other solutions, such as Fortinet provide better commercial features."
"The initial setup is complex."
"Right now we are focusing on email. If Palo Alto can increase the features related to email filtering and the new malware, it would help us protect our systems."
"The price of licenses should be lowered to make it less costly to scale our solution."
"The application’s pricing and dashboard need improvement. It could be user-friendly."
"Mission learning techniques should continue to expand and detect unknown threats on the fly."
"Sometimes when you want to group a set of ports, and communicate with Palo Alto, you cannot group TCP and UDP ports together. This needs to be adjusted."
"The management console needs to be less complex and easier to navigate."
"The technical support must be improved."
"The technical support has room for improvement."
"The solution could improve some aspects of detection."
"We would like to have a simpler version. Some settings and functions on the McAfee console are complex and complicated. I want the management console to be simpler."
"The area of concern where the tool needs improvement is how the product prompts users at a network level that helps prevent any wireless network attacks through alerts and notifications."
"The solution needs to improve the graphical interface. And they had a limitation in some of the sensor modems as well."
"The pricing could be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is an expensive solution and I would like to see a drop in price."
"The cost involves the price of the hardware, which is expensive. However, most of the Palo Alto solutions are expensive."
"If you want to have all of the good features then you have to pay extra for licensing."
"The pricing has improved with the newer generation of their Firewalls, but the price could always be lower."
"The pricing and the licensing are pretty competitive at this stage. As a reseller, I would like to see the price come down a little bit so I can compete better against other firewalls because we do that all the time."
"It's not too expensive."
"From one to ten, with one being the most expensive, I would rate the pricing of Palo Alto Networks Threat Prevention a one out of ten. It is my understanding that Palo Alto Networks Threat Prevention is the most expensive one."
"Palo Alto Networks Threat Prevention could improve by having consistent pricing at system levels."
"The tool is competitively priced."
