Simplifies device management, making performing various administrative tasks easier
Sometimes, the server gets slow. The dashboard is only getting loaded. Jamf Pro offers many features, but some improvements could make it even more user-friendly. For example, streamlining authentication controls would enhance its security value. Too many complex settings on the dashboard make it hard for users to navigate. Simplifying the settings would make it easier to use. Adding a more interactive and cleaner UI design would also improve the user experience. Additionally, automatically categorizing policies and configurations by type would be helpful, making the dashboard more organized. Introducing auto-filtering based on categories would streamline configuration management. On the security side, enabling two-factor authentication for console login would provide better protection than single sign-on. Only authorized users can access sensitive data, like the asset inventory stored in the console. 2FA would help keep the system secure, preventing unauthorized access even if login credentials are compromised. Device management needs automation, and Jamf is likely to integrate Apple's Apple Intelligence into its framework once it's available. This integration is expected to be a significant enhancement for the Jamf console, potentially transforming the way device management is handled.

Automated enrollment streamlines device management with a helpful self-deploying mode
We use Windows Autopilot for enrolling devices into Intune I work for a Microsoft Gold Partner. We use Windows Autopilot to determine under what circumstances we recommend using Jamf and when to recommend using Intune. It is an automated way of enrolling devices, which streamlines the process.…

Pros

"I found that automated enrollment is very powerful because you can bring standardization to the environment."
"The remote wipe and lock features are by far the best tools."
"I can set policies to manage devices by many variables OR keep it simple by leveraging DEP to assign new devices the standard apps."
"The Smart Groups have been very beneficial for quick reporting when a critical, out of cycle patch is required."
"Microsoft SSO integration allows us to set up email remotely for users without them having to do anything other than entering their password."
"It offers professionals an endless amount of possibilities to keep users and the company happy."
"Jamf Pro allows us to manage all Apple devices from a single interface, making it easy to deploy and configure software, set policies, and inventory devices."
"Navigation is straightforward. It's not hard to create policies and manage the device. It's a lot simpler to create smart groups, view inventory, and see what the estate looks like."
"Windows Autopilot is very stable."
"Windows Autopilot automates much of the setup process when delivering computers with a specific image to multiple employees simultaneously. It streamlines the configuration loading process, making it more unattended and yielding consistent results. This eliminates the need for an engineer to input data on each machine manually."
"Its most valuable feature is imaging, it takes very less time for processing."
"Windows Autopilot's most valuable features are its automatic enrollment functionality and ability to detect and configure new devices seamlessly."
"The most effective feature of Windows Autopilot for managing deployments is the automation."
"The solution is very stable."
"It is the only choice if you're managing Windows devices with Intune and Azure."

Cons

"I think it would be best if Jamf had support tiers."
"They need to alphabetize payloads."
"Training should be more accessible and cheaper."
"One of the big areas in need of improvement is automated device naming for computers."
"It would be great for Jamf to provide templates for commonly used tasks like updating an operating system, packaging commonly used apps like Office 365, or enabling FileVault."
"I am always complaining about the reporting side of things. I love how reporting lets us create custom reports, however, I also feel like it could use some updating."
"Jamf could improve versioning as in outright blocking OS upgrades OR improving maintaining every application’s update feature. As of now, only some apps, like Flash, have managed updates."
"I wish the inventory would have its own pane without having to do it as a search."
"We encounter issues with re-registering devices in the Azure domain."
"If Microsoft can automatically add the license serial numbers, or have a method for us to get those serial numbers added to Windows Autopilot, apart from having to go through the device manufacturer that would greatly improve the solution."
"The Azure and Intune platform is not always available and quite often, there are service outages."
"They could provide an executable and user-friendly wizard for installation and automatic removal, making it easier for users."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price of a training pass for five people was $18,000 USD."
"It would be beneficial if it could be reduced slightly."
"The price of this solution is a bit high but it is worth the money for the features. There is an annual license for the use of this solution."
"The cost of any licensing is certainly outweighed by the time saved from manually managing Apple devices."
"Don’t go into a sales call without knowing all the details of your system because Jamf has a ton of tools outside of Jamf Pro to offer and knowing them ahead of time is a must."
"The setup cost is in the training, which is the most important step of your journey."
"This is a pricey solution."
"Cloud is worth the small increase in price, but make the switch before you need it, and not during a global pandemic."
"As far as I know, there isn't an additional cost specifically for Windows Autopilot itself. You'll need to consider the licensing fees for the software you install on the machines, such as Windows and Office. Overall, it is a valuable tool that simplifies the deployment process, making life easier for those involved."
"We are required to have a license for either EMS, E5, or E2."
