Lacks multi-platform support and physical infrastructure but excels in storage optimization
We use it for VM backup and Office 365 backup I find the solution to be user-friendly and easy to manage and deploy. It provides storage for Office 365, which is beneficial, and the deduplication technology is excellent, especially in optimizing storage capacity compared to others. In terms of…

The solution provides the ability to backup all types of cloud drives, is inexpensive, and has decent support
MSP360 Backup provides the backup functionality, but we need to provide the storage component. We can use Azure, AWS, or another provider, but we need to choose the storage provider and create a bucket to store our data. The vendor is making changes to improve the functionality of the service and the separation of storage, but I would like to see more integration and a knowledge base of the tool. Currently trying to understand why the storage is separated and how to implement the storage properly is a challenge. Using the solution incurs additional charges for the device storage and backup which are not included in the service. Unlike other solutions such as Kohl which includes everything at one price. MSP360 Backup can be improved by adding inclusive pricing.

Pros

"The ease of use of the solution is its most valuable feature. The interface is also excellent."
"We use the latest feature in Altaro called CDP (Continuous Data Protection) to back up our VMs as often as every five minutes. It allows us to make sure no data is accidentally deleted or overwritten."
"It is an excellent product. It is easy to deploy, stable, and fast. Their support is excellent."
"The intuitive interface allows you to set up and perform backups and restores easily."
"Give it a try as it's very easy to setup and works like charm."
"It is a great lesson in keeping it simple."
"The costs of performing restores are less than ever before as we can save a lot of time with this software."
"VM backup and the item level recovery are the most valuable features."
"MSP360 Backup's most valuable feature is its backup interface."
"The solution is simple to use and easy to configure."
"General ease of use and performance of the Windows version is the most valuable feature."
"The most valuable feature for me is that I can see what has has been successfully backed up and what not. I do not mean the file or folder view, because that's problematic with GDPR, but I mean which machines have successfully backed up. It's very valuable because you don't have to check the machines. The second feature is that you can change backup settings in the portal."
"The most valuable feature for me is that I can see what has been successfully backed up and what has not, which is very valuable because you don't have to check the machines, and the second feature is that you can change backup settings in the portal."
"The most valuable feature of MSP360 Backup is its reliability."
"Block level transfers have significantly reduced the amount of time for transfers over some other solutions"
"The solution is appliance-free, the initial setup is very straightforward, the scalability and stability have never been a problem for us, technical support is very good, and we have found the price point to be quite good."

Cons

"Backup speed and comparisons between versions used to be slow on big VMs but that was improved greatly later on."
"If you look into the performance of a virtual machine and you look to the performance of the physical machine, the correlation between these is totally unclear."
"Availability of physical server backup would be an added advantage."
"Sometime there are stability issues with older kit, for example, it can take a long time to compress the primary backup."
"If you look into the performance of a virtual machine and you look to the performance of the physical machine, the correlation between these is totally unclear."
"The cloud backup and VMware support (now available in the latest releases), could do with some improvement."
"The software does have occasional problems with shadow copy but restarting the services rectifies this."
"Stability."
"Maybe implement an easier interface for basic users. For example, a set-up wizard with all the commonly used features as default."
"The other issue is that I don't like the implementation of the SQL backup."
"The interface could use some updating."
"We could basically use just a more concise visual dashboard reporting on the status of the various machines."
"The Linux GUI leaves a lot to be desired. It lacks many of the features of the Windows version and is buggy, but it is still usable."
"As for what can be improved, some reports could be simplified so that you know how much backup you have done and what your backup details are. That report is available but it is very tough to get. I would like to know "today I have just uploaded 35 MB, tomorrow I have loaded 10 MB so my trend of backup is increasing.""
"We could basically use just a more concise visual dashboard reporting on the status of the various machines."
"Using the solution incurs additional charges for the device storage and backup which are not included in the service."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price is great for the utility you get and the licensing has never caused any issues with my company."
"Altaro VM Backup is affordably priced. It is a best value for its price and has almost every feature that an expensive, popular product offers."
"No other product offers these features for this price. The ROI is great."
"Altaro had the best prices and ROI in the whole bunch that we evaluated."
"The pricing is okay,"
"By implementing the solution at multiple locations, significant cost savings were achieved."
"VMware is a little pricey, but it is a good solution and priced similar to other products."

"The solution is expensive."
"The cost is pretty inexpensive. Around four to five dollars per device, per workstation on each server."
"It provides a good cost savings compared to our previous cloud backup."
"It includes a standard licensing fee. Once a year, there is a rebranding fee. The licensing costs are available on the internet for MSP360 Backup. There is a discount structure where if you have over 50 devices, you get a 50% discount. So, my cost is $2 a license per month."
"Pricing is reasonable although can be quite a large upfront cost."
"Its pricing needs improvement."
