Drag and drop workflows have simplified data mapping and currently improve my cloud database work
The IPaaS Connector, which I have found most valuable, is part of Google Cloud SQL. Google Cloud's user interface is really good, which improves efficiency in my database operations. The UI is excellent, making it easier to understand what we are doing. Currently, I am working on IPaaS Connector, so it is really just a clickable interface without writing any code. I simply use drag and drop and connecting lines, and it is working. Google Cloud SQL's global infrastructure improves our database's latency metrics because we are using Gemini in our project. Since both are products of Google, it makes our product faster.

Delivers consistent performance and enables advanced analytics across complex data environments
Teradata stands out as a solid platform for managing and analyzing large volumes of data. Its architecture allows information to be processed efficiently while maintaining stable performance, even in highly demanding environments. One of its most notable strengths is the ability to run complex queries at high speed, which is essential for organizations that require timely and reliable analytics. Teradata offers a well-integrated ecosystem that supports working with different types of data and enables scalability as organizational needs grow. Its focus on advanced analytics, integration with modern business intelligence tools, and the ability to operate both on-premise and in the cloud make it a versatile solution for data warehousing and large-scale processing. Teradata's stability, technological maturity, and the availability of strong documentation and best practices are noteworthy. I consider Teradata to be a tool with great potential for any organization looking to enhance its analytical capabilities, optimize data processing, and move toward more data-driven decision-making. Teradata stands out as a solid platform for managing a large volume of data in different projects. Its architecture allows information to be processed efficiently while maintaining stable performance, even in high-demanding environments. A well-integrated AI ecosystem that supports working with different types of data and enables scalability as organizational needs grow across different kinds of enterprises or organizations. The focus on advanced analytics integration with modern business intelligence tools is particularly valuable. Teradata combines a powerful parallel process and optimizing SQL engine with a highly scalable architecture allowing businesses to execute complex queries and analytics in real-time. It supports multi-cloud, hybrid, and on-premise environments, giving organizations flexibility to choose the setup that best aligns with their strategy. One of the biggest strengths is the ability to unify disparate data sources and support high concurrency, enabling different teams, such as analytics, operations, BI, and data science, to access consistent, trusted data across the enterprise.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It directly provides robust data safety. It also offers various other storage options, such as Google Cloud Storage. These services ensure data security and redundancy. Furthermore, it includes different storage classes, allowing flexible data management tailored to specific needs."
"From a database management perspective, it provides services without the need for me to worry about backups, scaling, or other operational issues."
"The deployment model allows for significant control and flexibility."
"The setup was straightforward. Just a couple of clicks, and we were done."
"Google Cloud SQL is very easy to use and easy to set up; it brings the benefits of being simple to perform queries, store data that I needed to store, and extract data when I needed to extract it quite quickly, without having to set up a full database and queries around it."
"Google Cloud SQL is highly scalable."
"My suggestion to anyone thinking about this solution is to jump into it head-first!"
"It is not the cool features that I find valuable, it is the stability of Google Cloud Platform."
"Teradata is expensive but gives value for money, especially if you don't want to move your data to the cloud."
"The most valuable feature is the ease of running queries."
"The most valuable features of Teradata are that it is a massively parallel platform and I can receive a lot of data and get the queries out correctly, especially if it's been appropriately designed. The native features make it very suitable for multiple large data tasks in a structured data environment. Additionally, the automation is very good."
"It's a pre-configured appliance that requires very little in terms of setting-up."
"Teradata can be deployed on-premise, on the cloud, or in a virtual machine, which means customers can move without having to create their architecture all over again."
"The tool's most valuable feature is the warehousing model."
"Teradata's most valuable feature is that it's easy to use."
"What really impressed me is their approach to design the data warehouse."

Cons

"The most vulnerable problem with Google SQL is that while you can customize your access control list, it provides you with a public IP address."
"They could improve documentation and dashboard stability for efficient user experience and database management."
"It is hard to do logging with the solution."
"The monitoring part could be better."
"There are a few UI glitches that I have noticed recently, specifically something called data mapping in IPaaS Connector. When I click a button such as open configuration on data map configuration, the UI becomes totally white, no text is visible clearly, and it is very frustrating."
"Google Cloud SQL needs to improve its support for high-end I/O operations. On-prem systems with high I/O capabilities perform better, as Google Cloud SQL takes more time to handle the same tasks."
"We see latency issues, so we were forced to introduce an in-memory store."
"I would like to see better availability of the product in different regions. It should also improve the security with encryption."
"Teradata's UI could be more user-friendly."
"The cloud is the new challenge and the new opportunity."
"If I want to implement an upgrade, I'd like to see how it will be different. Ideally, Data Lab should help me test production items and also do future things. Future releases should be downloadable and testable in Data Lab."
"The technical support is good but they could improve because sometimes they can take two weeks to resolve issues."
"Teradata needs to expand the kind of training that's available to customers. Teradata only offers training directly and doesn't delegate to any third-party companies. As a result, it's harder to find people trained on Teradata in our market relative to Oracle."
"When backups are performed, it locks the database, preventing user access, which is a concern."
"Teradata customer support in India is very bad."
"My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing indicates that while it was not part of my work, I found Teradata to be somewhat costlier when considering other options."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"From a financial perspective, Google Cloud SQL is on the cheaper side."
"While the platform’s pricing may be higher, it aligns with industry standards, considering the quality of service and features provided."
"It is not expensive, especially considering the significant reduction in database management time."
"You need to pay extra costs for backup and replication."
"The solution is affordable."
"The pricing is very much an important factor as to why we use this solution."
"It's really cheap. It wouldn't be more than, I believe it's around 50 euro per month for running a cloud SQL."
"The price of Teradata is on the higher side, and I think that it where they lose out on some of their business."
"The price of Teradata is expensive. However, what they deliver they are outstanding. If you're looking for an inexpensive solution to run a database, this isn't your tool. It's the Ferrari of databases for data warehousing."
"It is still a very expensive solution. While I very much like the pure technological supremacy of the software itself, I believe Teradata as a company needs to become more affordable. They are already losing the market to more flexible or cheaper competitors."
"I am using the free version of Teradata."
"The initial cost may seem high, but the TCO is low."
"The price needs to be more competitive as Hadoop, Redshift, Snowflake, etc are constantly making way into EDW space."
"I rate the product price a nine on a scale of one to ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive."
"The price of Teradata could be less expensive."
