Daily workflows have become streamlined as I manage projects, learn from clones, and host sites
The thing that has frustrated me is sometimes when I push using a Git command, I need to force the push, which is the main thing. The setup is frustrating because GitHub could add a repository with pre-installed packages or something since I need to install packages in VS Code before pushing and maintain it in the codebase. Git packages need to be installed manually, and if that was already in a GitHub repository, that would be much better. GitHub packages can be installed previously for the project upon the project requirement, and that is the thing I wanted to add here. That would be good. According to governance and security, I recently heard about some security issues in GitHub. I think that could be centralized and should consider those security issues and clear them. The AI capabilities there include Copilot or something else. I recently heard about security issues, but I do not know about it clearly. However, if security has been more tightened, it will be better.

Great for hybrid workers, minimizes latency and delivers great performance
We haven't encountered major issues with the solution. We are really happy that we decided to purchase Venn Software, although they are quite new. The initial setup is seamless. It's not overly complex. In our experience, for the most part, the solution is reliable. We haven't experienced any bugs or glitches. That said, the performance could be a bit better. We'd like to see a bit more done with the deployment capabilities. The solution needs to offer better local or regional support to cater to offshore users.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We liked it because it was solving all of our queries, and whatever our needs were, we were able to accomplish them with GitHub."
"I would rate the stability a ten out of ten."
"The support team is good."
"The product has a good UI, it's simple and easy to access, and technical help is easily available, while the two-factor authentication security is another valuable feature."
"GitHub's version control is valuable."
"It provides Draft Pull Requests for review purposes without needing immediate merging and GitHub Actions for CI/CD implementation."
"GitHub is the perfect tool for use at present and is extremely necessary."
"GitHub has positively impacted my organization by improving collaboration, code quality, version tracking, and development efficiency."
"It allows us to improve our security and prevent company files and data leaks."
"Since the software is launched directly from the computer, not remotely delivered, it has minimized latency and response time."
"We don't need to go to the physical office, and it only requires minimal supervision or assistance from our IT Team."

Cons

"The initial setup requires heavy documentation which can be challenging for new developers."
"GitHub's issue management could be improved a little from an organization standpoint. It would be helpful to have the ability to organize a work board or a backlog more comprehensively. For organizations migrating to GitHub from arbitrary systems, it's a little bit of a headache to move on to that system."
"The sign in process is a bit difficult. Signing up was challenging at that time."
"In complex cases, we have to use the terminal for conflict resolution. If those conflicts could be resolved visually in the editor, that would be much better."
"The stability can be improved."
"There is room for improvement in terms of interface."
"The onboarding process could be simplified."
"If we have complex branch strategies, it becomes very complicated to manage all those branches."
"We'd like to see a bit more done with the deployment capabilities."
"Currently, Venn only uses two platforms/applications: Windows and Mac. It would be great if they could also add more platforms since some BYOD employees might be using an application other than Windows or Mac - for example, Linux."
"It would be better to have the back end more efficient."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price of this solution is reasonable."
"The product is reasonably priced."
"I think, in terms of price, GitHub is okay compared to other tools."
"GitHub is an open-source product, but when using the free-to-use version, anyone can see the code we're working on."
"We have an enterprise licensing agreement, and I am not part of the finance department so I can't say how much it costs."
"It's cheaper than Bitbucket."
"The tool offers a free program. As you go, you can upgrade from the community version to the professional one. I believe it costs about ten dollars per person, per month."
"My company purchased it. Before, we used to receive the free version, but then they purchased some of the features."
