Has improved network monitoring with AI-driven insights and centralized device management
The best features of ExtremeCloud IQ include the integration of different vendors in one dashboard, the evolution of the manager, and any devices in networking. The impact of ExtremeCloud IQ on my organization is positive as the deployment is for a hybrid solution, using third-party vendors and cloud solutions for Extreme devices, switches, IP, and access points or SD-WAN solution devices. My IT team is occupied with other jobs, and ExtremeCloud IQ helps with monitoring networking at low costs. For networking and access points, it acts as a controller in a cloud environment, eliminating the need for an appliance controller or wireless LAN controller, thus saving on investment and reducing TCO costs.

Has the ability to track and sync through the grid
It would be nice if they restored the network overview of all connected network items. Before it was per site, but now they've made it an overall view of everything and it's quite chaotic because everything is in it instead of per site. It would be nice if they would switch it back to how it was. Additionally, adding your own devices should be made easier. Now you have to do it via technical support to get it incorporated into the new releases. It would be nice if the author generated a graphic network. This could also include the ACL troubleshooting capabilities. But I don't know if that will happen.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"AeroHive provide very good technical support with user guides and technical documentation."
"The amount of time spent troubleshooting wireless issues is now non-existent so our ROI is priceless as it stands."
"What's most valuable for me in ExtremeCloud IQ is easy management. It also has centralized administration, so you don't have to go to the customer site to program it. It can be programmed remotely."
"The cloud management gives us the tools and reports that we need to monitor and troubleshoot the network."
"I would recommend Aerohive to anyone seeking a robust cloud-based WIFI system."
"The cost and feature set to scale for our deployment just made Aerohive a clear winner."
"We have over 100 offices across the state, and remote management has saved us thousands of dollars in travel and time."
"The setup is easy and the deep configurations are more robust than Meraki devices."
"The features we've found most valuable are the ability to track and sync mac-addresses and switchport information of connected hosts to the Infoblox grid, and also the configuration backups of managed devices."
"Scalable solution for tracking and syncing through the Infoblox grid."

Cons

"The only area of improvement we made ourselves so far is the temporary visitor solution in HiveManager NG which is quasi non-existent."
"Certain features only exist or work in certain versions."
"Customer Service: 3 out of 5, depending on the technician you get some want to troubleshoot over email other will actually call or ask you to call them. Technical Support: 3 out of 5, majority of the issues we report they want us to factory reset which was already done and do the basic troubleshooting which I have already done."
"The area that I would like to see improved is searching within Hivemanager."
"The PoE switches we purchased were/are very difficult to configure."
"I would love to see a more granular web filter."
"The on-premises version of HiveManager NG that we use does not receive updates as soon as the cloud-based version does."
"A room for improvement in ExtremeCloud IQ is roaming. My team is facing roaming issues with the solution, particularly when using VoIP over WiFi. For example, VoIP sometimes breaks when you walk around the customer site. In terms of what I'd like to see in the next release of the solution, right now, the inventory for ExtremeCloud IQ is awful. There's no stock, and you must wait a year and a half for new stocks. It's awful."
"Lacks network overview for the entire connected network."
"Technical support for the devices should be improved. That should be made easier."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"There are probably cheaper solutions but we invest for stability and performance for the longer haul."
"Buy near the end of Q4 in order to get a deal."
"It is easy for customers to use this product because they are able to interchange the license depending on their usage rather than having to buy individual licenses for each asset."
"Although the pricing is a bit high, I consider Aerohive to be well worth the money."
"Extreme is twice as cheap compared to Cisco due to the currency exchange. Normally, I think Cisco would be a little bit more expensive, but there wouldn't be that much of a difference."
"Bring the cost down."
"I am not involved in the price, but I am sure that it is not cheap."
"ExtremeCloud IQ's pricing is medium, but its support contract costs more."
