Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"I like the ability to run custom KQL queries. I don't know if that feature is specific to Sentinel. As far as I know, they are using technology built into Azure's Log Analytics app. Sentinel integrates with that, and we use this functionality heavily.""Sentinel uses Azure Logic Apps for automation, which is really powerful. This allows us to easily automate responses to incidents.""Sentinel is a Microsoft product, so they provide very robust use cases and analytic groups, which are very beneficial for the security team. I also like the ability to integrate data sources into the software for on-premise and cloud-based solutions.""Sentinel's most important feature is the ability to centralize all the logs in one place. There's no need to search multiple systems for information.""The product can integrate with any device.""The UI-based analytics are excellent.""Sentinel enables us to ingest data from our entire ecosystem. In addition to integrating our Cisco ASA Firewall logs, we get our Palo Alto proxy logs and some on-premises data coming from our hardware devices... That is very important and is one way Sentinel is playing a wider role in our environment.""The AI and ML of Azure Sentinel are valuable. We can use machine learning models at the tenant level and within Office 365 and Microsoft stack. We don't need to depend upon any other connectors. It automatically provisions the native Microsoft products."

"The most valuable feature of Exabeam Fusion SIEM is the easy-to-use user interface.""The user interface and the timelines they use are the most valuable features. The price model is very simple so that one can understand it easily and there are no surprises within it.""The way it can connect with AWS is very useful, and the integrations are pretty good.""Exabeam Fusion SIEM has a good performance and more advantages than traditional solutions.""It's a very user-friendly product and it's a very comprehensive technology.""I have customers that like the EUBA functionality of it. The solution has the ability to build a session, basically. It pulls a lot of information together, for example, everything a user does in a specific timeframe. It's quite helpful.""The setup is not difficult. It was easy.""The advanced analytics has a really great overview of user behavior."

"The most valuable feature is the way it captures the traffic, and it contains every detail of the communication.""NetWitness Endpoint's most valuable features are its interoperability across many different operating systems and the ease of pivoting from network to endpoint via a single console.""RSA NetWitness does market analysis in a more granular form. It gives you full visibility.""It is very easy to use, and its usability is great. The use cases are also very easy. The visualizations of the use cases are magnificent. You cannot find this in any other solution. From my point of view, it is great.""Ability to isolate the machine when there are malicious files.""It helps our security team respond more accurately when there are threats, then we get less false positives or negatives.""They have recently updated the features and the most valuable ones are the instant threat response, ease of use, web interface, integration, and easy access. RSA NetWitness Endpoint is very compatible with other solutions and technologies. However, they do not rely on third-party solutions and have most features built-in.""This solution allows us to locate the malware in real-time."

Cons
"The on-prem log sources still require a lot of development.""There are certain delays. For example, if an alert has been rated on Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, it might take up to an hour for that alert to reach Sentinel. This should ideally take no more than one or two seconds.""The playbook is a bit difficult and could be improved.""They only classify alerts into three categories: high, medium, and low. So, from the user's point of view, having another critical category would be awesome.""We have been working with multiple customers, and every time we onboard a customer, we are missing an essential feature that surprisingly doesn't exist in Sentinel. We searched the forums and knowledge bases but couldn't find a solution. When you onboard new customers, you need to enable the data connectors. That part is easy, but you must create rules from scratch for every associated connector. You click "next," "next," "next," and it requires five clicks for each analytical rule. Imagine we have a customer with 150 rules.""Some of the data connectors are outdated, at least the ones that utilize Linux machines for log forwarding. I believe that Microsoft is already working on improving this.""Add more out-of-the-box connectors with other SaaS platforms/applications.""The solution should allow for a streamlined CI/CD procedure."

More Microsoft Sentinel Cons →

"The organzation is rigid and not flexible in the way they operate""They need to focus on more of the MITRE ATT&CK Framework and coverage. They claim they cover about 70 to 80%. I'm not sure if it's really quite that much, however.""The initial setup of Exabeam Fusion SIEM is complex because it needs to integrate with the SIEM solution, but after this is complete it is straightforward.""Adding to the number of certifications that they have, for example, ISO 27001, would be helpful.""Updating the new release of Exabeam Fusion SIEM takes time and slows our performance.""I believe if it were more flexible it would be a better product.""We had a large volume right from the beginning and they weren't quite prepared for that. That's something that they should think about when it comes to customers that have a large volume to start off with.""We still have questions surrounding hardware deployment."

More Exabeam Fusion SIEM Cons →

"When analyzing something, you have to click several times. It requires a lot of effort to find something.""The integration of the solution needs to be improved. The dashboard needs lots of updates as well. In the next release, we would like to see advanced fraud detection features.""Threat detection could be better.""RSA NetWitness Network could improve on integration with non-native application integration.""The contamination feature could be improved.""I would like to see Security Orchestration and Response Automation (SOAR) integration.""NetWitness Endpoint's blocking feature does not work properly - if there's a malicious process, it's not possible to kill it via a custom rule unless and until it's flagged as malicious.""The solution is modular, for example you can buy the RSA ePack, which you buy as a module is not part of the conduit solution. They could include it and have it as an all-in-one solution."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It comes with a Microsoft subscription which the customer has, so they don't have to invest somewhere else."
  • "It is a consumption-based license model. bands at 100, 200, 400 GB per day etc. Azure Sentinel Pricing | Microsoft Azure"
  • "Good monthly operational cost model for the detection and response outcomes delivered, M365 logs don't count toward the limits which is a good benefit."
  • "I have had mixed feedback. At one point, I heard a client say that it sometimes seems more expensive. Most of the clients are on Office 365 or M365, and they are forced to take Azure SIEM because of the integration."
  • "It is kind of like a sliding scale. There are different tiers of pricing that go from $100 per day up to $3,500 per day. So, it just kind of depends on how much data is being stored. There can be additional costs to the standard license other than the additional data. It just kind of depends on what other services you're spinning up in Azure, or if you're using something like Azure log analytics."
  • "I am just paying for the log space with Azure Sentinel. It costs us about $2,000 a month. Most of the logs are free. We are only paying money for Azure Firewall logs because email logs or Azure AD logs are free to use for us."
  • "Sentinel is a bit expensive. If you can figure a way of configuring it to meet your needs, then you can find a way around the cost."
  • "Azure Sentinel is very costly, or at least it appears to be very costly. The costs vary based on your ingestion and your retention charges."
  • More Microsoft Sentinel Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "They have a great model for pricing that can be based either on user count or gigabits per day."
  • "There is an annual license required to use Exabeam Fusion SIEM. The price of the solution should be reduced."
  • "Exabeam Fusion SIEM's pricing is reasonable."
  • "The solution is expensive."
  • More Exabeam Fusion SIEM Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "With RSA, there is flexibility in choosing the service, products, and the range that meets your requirement, as well as they are flexible in terms of pricing."
  • "They can easily adjust if you have the requirements which are required. If you have a budget cut or a budget constraint, they can bend."
  • "It is highly scalable. It can be bought based on your requirements."
  • "I do not have any opinion on the pricing or licensing of the product."
  • "The cost depends on the number of endpoints that you want to monitor, but it is not expensive."
  • "It is an expensive product."
  • "The price of the solution depends on the environment. If the environment is large then it will cost more. However, the larger the environment with more endpoints, you will receive an increased discount. If the environment is very small, then you might think it is expensive. It is always better to buy in bulk to receive a discount. The minimum number of assets is usually 500, with discounts on 1000 and 2000."
  • "The pricing is not very economical. It is a quite costly product for India. One thing is that when you purchase it, you have to purchase a module separately."
