Senior Law Enforcement Executive at a comms service provider with 201-500 employees
Offers inventory management, basic ERP functions but outdated interface
The interface looks a bit outdated. Epicor acquired iScala, which was originally developed in Sweden. I'm unsure if their intention is to eventually replace iScala with their primary Epicor ERP or continue developing iScala. Initially, it seemed they might replace it, but it appears iScala will remain a separate product.

Integrated workflows have streamlined hiring, purchasing, and daily operations across departments
Areas of SAP S_4HANA that could be improved or enhanced include the evolving aspects of the application over time. There are other SAP applications such as SuccessFactors and Ariba that integrate with SAP S_4HANA. In recent years, SAP introduced an addition called RISE with SAP, which allows companies to use cloud solutions instead of requiring their own premises hardware. SAP partners with cloud providers such as Azure, Amazon, and Google, assisting companies in migrating from hardware to cloud solutions. A challenge that arises is the lack of immediate expertise when raising tickets for problem resolution with SAP, leading to delays. We have asked SAP to improve this area to provide users with better benefits from the cloud solution, as we encounter this issue frequently.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The accounting, purchasing, and basic ERP functions work well. But they are a little bit older, but they work for us. The inventory management is good and necessary for any company that manages stock for production or services."
"SAP offers specific functions related to my data use case."
"I find everything I need in S4/HANA."
"I can verify and provide the overall financial aid report and also the management report, which makes it better and easier to implement and provides a better view of business operations."
"The scalability has been good."
"It's a stable product; there are no bugs or glitches, it doesn't crash or freeze, and it's reliable with good performance."
"S/4HANA offers one of the best scalability options."
"The initial setup is not complex; it's more at a medium level. Not too easy, but with the right knowledge, you can configure it."
"From a technology standpoint, the theory and analytics are fascinating."

Cons

"We're facing challenges with iScala in the public sector, specifically healthcare. The system doesn't have sufficient support for the complexities of managing payments for doctors, nurses, and other healthcare staff."
"S/4HANA is like a ready-made suit, but it could be improved by adding more customization options, such as different colors and attractive themes in Fiori. From a functionality standpoint, there's always a workaround solution, and we've been working on SAP for the last 18 years."
"The platform could improve by simplifying the analytics processes, which currently require significant preparatory work outside the platform."
"SAP is generally a very expensive license globally."
"The solution could have a better user experience. However, they are working a lot on the user experience and they have come up with various applications, such as mobile applications. This was lacking over the last two years."
"The initial setup could be simplified."
"The setup cost is expensive. I would compare it to the difference between a Ferrari and a Rolls Royce. That's the level of distinction."
"I would not say it is a 100% stable."
"There are some problems with the support provided for the solution, so it is not quite easy. It takes some time for them to offer us support."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Compared to local ERP solutions, it's on the higher side."
"We pay for an annual license."
"SAP S4HANA is expensive and for smaller businesses, it is very difficult for them to have the budget."
"People concerned about the costs need to evaluate whether implementing this system is profitable."
"The solution's license cost is on the higher side."
"The licensing format is complicated for SAP S/4HANA"
"Licensing works on a subscription model for the cloud version and it's a one-time fee for the on-premises version."
"SAP is a costly product in terms of maintenance for an organization who has reached a particular level."
"The problem with SAP is that it offers two licenses, namely runtime license and enterprise license. If you have a runtime license, then you are doomed since you can't take any data out from the tool."
