Senior Law Enforcement Executive at a comms service provider with 201-500 employees
Offers inventory management, basic ERP functions but outdated interface
The interface looks a bit outdated. Epicor acquired iScala, which was originally developed in Sweden. I'm unsure if their intention is to eventually replace iScala with their primary Epicor ERP or continue developing iScala. Initially, it seemed they might replace it, but it appears iScala will remain a separate product.

Integrated workflows have streamlined hiring, purchasing, and daily operations across departments
Areas of SAP S_4HANA that could be improved or enhanced include the evolving aspects of the application over time. There are other SAP applications such as SuccessFactors and Ariba that integrate with SAP S_4HANA. In recent years, SAP introduced an addition called RISE with SAP, which allows companies to use cloud solutions instead of requiring their own premises hardware. SAP partners with cloud providers such as Azure, Amazon, and Google, assisting companies in migrating from hardware to cloud solutions. A challenge that arises is the lack of immediate expertise when raising tickets for problem resolution with SAP, leading to delays. We have asked SAP to improve this area to provide users with better benefits from the cloud solution, as we encounter this issue frequently.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The accounting, purchasing, and basic ERP functions work well. But they are a little bit older, but they work for us. The inventory management is good and necessary for any company that manages stock for production or services."
"This solution has reduced our costs because we don't have to pay for a third-party database or replication software."
"The best features of SAP S_4HANA are that the front end configuration gives a lot of flexibility to the user to do analytics and to get insights quickly."
"S/4HANA offers one of the best scalability options."
"SAP offers specific functions related to my data use case."
"The most interesting features from the solution include the look and feel of the user interface, as it is very user friendly and easy to navigate."
"I would recommend SAP S4HANA because it is a known solution that is stable and widely used by customers, thus making it reliable."
"The Order-to-Cash feature is indispensable"
"The user interface of SAP S/4HANA is user-friendly."

Cons

"We're facing challenges with iScala in the public sector, specifically healthcare. The system doesn't have sufficient support for the complexities of managing payments for doctors, nurses, and other healthcare staff."
"During my time with Angleton, we relied on a private cloud, and accessibility became literally impossible whenever the cloud service provider experienced downtime."
"I find the technical support from SAP to be very difficult to get as we do not have a one-window solution."
"SAP is charging a lot for that particular bank integration scenario and I think it should be free because other ERPs are providing this feature built in to the ERP."
"In an upcoming release, it would be beneficial to have more practical intelligence in the system, such as protective maintenance, or artificial intelligence."
"S/4HANA could be improved with better integration. At the moment, a main issue I see is that there's so much growth in the functionality, complementary modules, and cloud solutions which were acquired by SAP and which extend the functionality of the SAP ERP suite. It looks to me that they tend to acquire more and more functionality from acquisitions, but they don't invest enough effort into making them integrated with S/4HANA or ERP. I would say that the functionality is great, but integration is something which still needs more attention. Instead of focusing on acquisitions, they should invest, integrate, and better the existing portfolio of products in SAP. It would help us, as implementors, to have a more complex or compact solution."
"Licensing is quite expensive. It works with yearly licenses and it's ugly."
"The integration could be made a little simpler in terms of design and implementation."
"So, there is room for improvement in pricing. HANA is not a simple product; it's quite complex by design."
