Has required frequent manual adjustments due to screen resolution but supports simple automation with minimal effort
I would prefer more UFT because it has VB scripting capabilities. While Eggplant Test also has this feature, it's not very user-friendly. I prefer the features of UFT compared to Eggplant Test. When needing to do quick automation, I would prefer Eggplant Test, but otherwise, I would always choose UFT. It depends on the complexity of the tasks. For big problems and complex automation tasks, I would prefer UFT because it has more flexibility and is more effective. With Eggplant Test, if you have very low complexity automation, such as simple click sequences and validation, then it would be preferable; with more complexity, I would not recommend Eggplant Test.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution is a stable one."
"This solution has helped our organization because we can create test cases faster as compared to using Selenium, there are no language dependencies and people are not required to be trained for two to five months."
"It has enabled true end-to-end testing."
"GUI testing is the strength of the tool, we have been satisfied with the tool, and not only the tool, but the service behind it, as the tool works as expected and the response from eggPlant, as a company, has been quick and substantial."
"The main feature of Eggplant Test is that it can do fully automated web testing and app testing."
"Its scalability is good. It is useful for desktop applications, and it also uses OCR and does image recognition."
"I love a good portion of this solution, the stand outs for me are the ability to read texts, and being able to automate anything you wish to do."
"The biggest advantage has been the ability to improve the quality significantly."
"It provides automated testing. Instead of us doing manual testing, we can utilize Leapwork, and it tests most of our critical processes. In the next phase, we also plan to do some process work with it, such as using Leapwork to create reports or provide certain extracts of data."
"Anyone can use LEAPWORK because it is a no code solution that removes the need for a developer."
"The most valuable of this solution is the no code option. It offers drag and drop when it comes to development and removes the need for a developer."
"The UI is user-friendly."
"As a testing tool, it is great; it does exactly what we need it to do, and it is very robust in the number of features that you could support for testing."

Cons

"In terms of additional features, it would be helpful to have one package for all testing. You have the manager, the AI, then you have functional, and about 10 different packages for installing."
"If one area could be improved, it would be some of their documentation. In particular, some of their online help and user support documentation is a little bit out of date and could be revised and updated on a more frequent basis. Other than that, I haven't really found any issues or problems."
"I would like to see standardized actions already built into Eggplant. For example, "wait eight seconds". That way, I wouldn't need to create it as an action. Right now, I have to program that wait and describe it as an action so that everybody knows it is an action that waits eight seconds... That way, somebody who is not familiar with programming processes like "if-else", or "for", or "while", would be able, from the first moment, and without programming, to put some easy-to-use, standardized, actions in place."
"Eggplant Digital Automation Intelligence could improve by lowering the price."
"Eggplant Test should emphasize on improving its offering in non-Windows environments."
"The IDE could be even more full-featured. Because I was a developer, I was very spoiled by either Visual Studio Code or Visual Studio for shortcuts. For example, I was able to say "ctor" and hit Tab and it would create a template of a constructor for me... It would be great, when I want to create a new function, if there were shortcut commands like those that helped create all of the functions, or if there were shortcut features to do any of the complex plans."
"It has low productivity."
"There was no free trial in it."
"The initial setup is difficult."
"The only thing that I don't like about the product is the need to deploy agents on the laptops of people doing the testing. So, you have an agent on a server, then you have an agent on the laptop of the person who is doing the testing, and that seems like a lot of stuff and a kind of anti-cloud. Why do I have to deploy agents on people's machines in order to do something in the cloud? I'm sure they're doing that so they can monitor their licensing and all that stuff, but it is not necessarily a friendly process."
"The only thing that I don't like about the product is the need to deploy agents on the laptops of people doing the testing."
"It is a very comprehensive tool, and there is a significant learning curve to being able to adopt the tool. Because it does so much, there is only so much that you can learn. You can, however, do some simpler things right away. They do have a kind of boot camp where some of their experts engage with you, and during that time, you can work on the top initiatives that you want to do, and that's a good process. After you start using the tool, there is a lot more that you would want to do."
"This solution could be improved by offering better reporting related to the integration into Azure DevOps."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is scalable, but it is a matter of money in the pocket. You can scale it, but then you have to have additional licenses. The licensing approach of eggPlant is not the best."
"This solution is expensive when compared to the market. However, the reason it is more expensive is because of its stability, high performance, and for its support of any technology."
"End-to-end testing isn't possible for us because of the licensing problems. It's very expensive, so we only have two development/execution licenses."
"Make a smart decision about the number of developer- and execution-only licenses you purchase to maximize your budget. We found that going heavier on execution-only licenses has been a way to reduce our costs and maximize our ability to benefit from the software."
"It probably has a yearly license."
"Eggplant Test is a very expensive solution."
"We got a deal on it for the first year. We're paying $8,000."
"The product is not cheap."
