Secure, easy to use, and dashboard works well
I use this solution with VxRail I have found some of the key features of the solution are it can be configured similar to Cisco, it is secure, easy to use, and the dashboard works well. In some configurations, I am unable to use two switches as one and it causes some problems. In the future, I…

Cloud-managed switches have improved secure segmentation and simplified automated patching
Meraki MS Switches are easy to manage, but I believe they are more suitable for use on the IT side because Meraki faces the internet, requiring an open connection through the internet for control. It is not the same as Cisco switches, which operate via command line. I normally use command line for configuration, while Meraki utilizes a cloud-based dashboard that necessitates a constant internet connection for configuration. Therefore, I find Meraki MS Switches more suitable for the IT side. The improvement needed for Meraki MS Switches is the ability to connect in the worst case when I encounter internet issues. When I cannot connect to the internet and need to configure or connect directly to Cisco switches or access Meraki for changes, I face difficulties. When Meraki MS Switches can be configured without an internet connection, I think I can use Meraki MS Switches on the OT side. The only improvement I seek is configuration without an internet connection.

Pros

"I have found some of the key features of the solution are it can be configured similar to Cisco, it is secure, easy to use, and the dashboard works well."
"From a security view, Meraki MS Switches are easy to patch because normal Cisco switches are very hard to patch or update IOS."
"For me, the best functionality is provided by Meraki for any device, and the ability to manage the devices from the online dashboard is great."
"I use it at work and at home and I don't have any issues."
"If you're after a platform that is completely cloud compatible, a solution that will allow you to manage it from anywhere you need to be, then it's definitely a step in the right direction going forward."
"Visibility is part of the Meraki mindset or the culture."
"The scalability of the solution is excellent."
"A good feature of Meraki is that you can access a single pane of glass and you can configure all the devices via the same access and just change the menus."
"The solution is efficient and easy to run."

Cons

"In some configurations, I am unable to use two switches as one and it causes some problems."
"I'd rate ROI a three out of five as it is costly."
"We had some dashboard licensing issues, maybe because their method of collecting data from the user needs to be more streamlined."
"The biggest area that they fall short on is comparing the performance."
"It is not compliant with the requirements of specific industries that want to set it up within a particular region or country."
"We had issues with the stability, issues with the pricing, and the total cost of ownership."
"It might be perceived as more of a niche product, partly due to its name, as it's still not entirely recognized by the market."
"There are some limitations in Meraki MS Switches. Other switches have more options, such as the Cisco Catalyst Switch."
"If they added the option to manage it locally, not in the cloud, it would be better."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price of the solution is fair."
"This is not a cheap solution."
"The only drawback is the cost — that's what kills them."
"It depends on what type of equipment you have and other things. We're about $17,000 a year."
"Meraki MS Switches is a pricey product. You have to get a license for each product annually. It would have been perfect if there were product bundles."
"This product is quite expensive."
"The pricing is high and it is where we get the most pushback from customers."
"Its price is definitely competitive."
"The tool is expensive."
