Resilience has supported proactive management and secured audit readiness across multiple sites
The resilience in Dell PowerStore benefits my company from an auditing perspective because we know we have that resilience in place. I see Dell PowerStore playing a bigger role in the future because we are starting to use it more, and that is pushing it. The biggest return on investment for me when using Dell PowerStore is scalability. Scalability is key. I can amplify that scalability is the biggest return on investment because we have redundancy between two sites; if something goes down, we have to manage it, but we want to do it proactively.

Can transform data per clients' needs and can easily distribute reports to end users
I would recommend looking at all of the solutions currently available and then decide. I would not immediately suggest going for SAP NetWeaver. Being able to transform the data according to my requirements is a crucial feature; the phasing layers are helpful to distinguish data with respect to a specific project; analytics and reporting are very feasible; and the distribution of reports to the end users is also very easy. However, connectors need to be simplified, and technical support needs to be improved. Thus, on a scale from one to ten, I would rate SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse at eight.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"I would assess the timeframes to deploy it as efficient."
"In terms of performance, we don't have any issue on Dell PowerStore, helping us achieve higher performance and operational efficiency."
"Since migrating to PowerStore, I believe everything is quite optimized and we haven't observed any issues in the two years since the migration."
"On a scale of one to ten, I rate Dell PowerStore a ten out of ten."
"The initial setup was straightforward."
"The administration tools take advantage of machine learning and make recommendations to the admins, and that makes the administration easier."
"I usually recommend Dell PowerStore for the government sector, public sector, and government agencies."
"Dell PowerStore Metro LUN allows us to move VMs between our data centers without suffering an outage, which supports higher availability for our services."
"Data modeling is a valuable feature."
"Transformation is a valuable feature of SAP NetWeaver. I can transform the data as per my needs or my client's needs. For example, flat tables can be transformed with respect to our requirements to combine multiple modules into one single table, and we can derive analytics."
"A robust and efficient product."
"With SAP BW, the organization can start to deploy a data warehouse and deliver data to business people."
"Data cleansed and harmonization. It provides us with proof of data, we can centralize all of the information, check it, and then provide the information to our users."
"This is a very robust and efficient product, and it's very powerful, in particular when it comes to data management in the SAP system."
"It is a robust system."
"Queries based on the Data warehouse have enabled the Service department of the organization analyze data deeply and get insights into daily inflow and revenue as well as analyze data over time periods, various models, model years, by customer segment, etc."

Cons

"Dell PowerStore does not meet the needs of a small organization; Dell has Unity which meets the entry-level or SMB segment."
"One suggestion for improvement would be related to volume management by both controllers. Currently, a volume is managed by a single controller, with alternate controllers managing different volumes based on load distribution. For example, if volume one is managed by controller one, volume two will be managed by controller two. In other vendors' solutions, both controllers participate in the I/Os. It would be more efficient if the volumes were controlled by both controllers in an active-active configuration."
"In future updates, I would like to see more AI functionality plus a good integration with OneDrive."
"If I needed more capacity, it quickly moves out of Dell PowerStore into something else. If I needed something more, I would prefer to stay in the Dell PowerStore ecosystem."
"From the price perspective, I think it should be less expensive to better position it against vendors such as IBM or Hitachi, since sometimes it is hard to sell it due to higher pricing."
"There is no Synchronize replication feature on the storage."
"I would like to see additional features or functionalities for the Metro in Dell PowerStore, especially because there are a few workloads still not supported."
"We are happy with the service in general. The only thing would be the price of the platform."
"People using SAP BW have to undergo some training to be able to use the product. Complexity can be reduced and could be made a bit more user-friendly."
"I think more integration with other applications would be perfect."
"The setup needs skilled resources in SAP BW. A lack of trained resources can create serious problems."
"Connectors are complex, and it is difficult to understand or know which connector should be used. For instance, if I want to connect APIs, I will not be able to do it directly. I would have to go to the portal integration to get the data. Therefore, having simplified connectors will make things much easier."
"The program is difficult to learn to use"
"There are performance issues in terms of scalability and availability."
"The product could provide more features."
"The solution could be improved by simplifying the modeling and the design. We're faced with too many options and too many object types."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"There's still a cap on the upgrade path, where you can consume all the engines within the frame before you have to go to another frame... Normally, we exceed the IOPS on the frames before we can ever exhaust the storage, so anything they can do to help us avoid stranded storage capacity, capacity that we couldn't get to, would be beneficial."
"When we compared it with the other solutions, the pricing of PowerStore was equal. The pricing is good."
"The pricing structure and licensing model of Dell PowerStore are pretty decent. It's pretty competitive."
"It is expensive compared to one of its competitors."
"In the pricing and licensing department, the product is always too expensive."
"The software features are included in the pricing without any additional purchase requirements."
"As compared to others, PowerStore is cheaper."
"We purchased it with a five-year warranty."
"All SAP products are expensive."
"Pricing is based on the number of user IDs and tyhe user ID works across a suite of products."
"The licensing cost is high for SAP NetWeaver compared to that for other products."
