We performed a comparison between Datto Cloud Continuity and NAKIVO Backup & Replication based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Disaster Recovery (DR) Software solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The platform provides a faster backup process."
"The solution has the capability to scale well."
"The product's initial setup phase is easy."
"Datto has strong competition, but they succeeded in linking their service to the device. It's easy for managed service providers to sell and upsell products using their portal and the remote monitoring and maintenance."
"The recovery time objective and recovery point objective were most valuable. It was easy to use, and it was easy to recover a file. I was the head of sales and a product evaluator for an MSSP, so I never had to deal with recovery from ransomware. However, I was confident that if ransomware had occurred, I would only lose a maximum of 59 minutes of data. The files were encrypted."
"The solution's reliability is one of its most valuable features...It is a very stable solution."
"This product provides cost-efficient and reliable backups."
"Nakivo offers direct support through the graphical interface and this is great to have if you need quick help."
"It has saved us numerous times from power outages and server failure."
"The interface is basic and very easy to use which is what we are looking for."
"Every new version has got some tweaks and improvements in stability and speed."
"The features that we like the most are the Backup Copy and Active Directory Integration. They have helped us to save a lot of time since we do not have to make the backup copies “by hand”."
"With Nakivo, I have the peace of mind that all of my production environment is safely backed up and can be restored safely, easily, and quickly with a few clicks."
"This product has helped to centralize backups and made it easy to recover data."
"The fact that Datto Cloud Continuity is not cheap is one of the aspects that I don't like about the product, making it an area where improvements are required."
"They are now providing the device instead of selling it, while wanting their users to sign a three-year contract, and this is something which my clients don't like...I dislike the fact that signing a three-year contract is required."
"Datto's only shortcoming is RMM. They have a portal-based connection service like ConnectWise, but it does backups and keeps things running. Datto purchased Backupify and Kaseya bought Datto. If they upped the ante in their RMM, I could see them dominating the MSP space. At the end of the day, MSPs are responsible for networks, software, devices, and backup. Datto covers all these functions so they could offer a turnkey MSP solution."
"The product's scalability features could be even better."
"At the time I was using it, I would've focused more on signatures of malicious software in the cloud. I love Datto, and I know they're on the right path, but I probably would've focused more on the operating system update management. When you go from the desk to the cloud or from the server room to the cloud, everything changes. Everything is different. You're not in control of your servers anymore. It is from the Active Directory management perspective and not from the perspective of zero-day attacks or other similar things. At the time, more focus on zero-day attacks and business email compromise (BEC) would've been a better protection factor than just educating about how many of these attacks have occurred."
"I don't have any feedback to provide in terms of features that may be lacking."
"Right now we know that Nakivo has the ability to back up as an incremental process and restore backups across several criteria. However, it would be good if we had the ability to backup a system like PostgreSQL."
"I would like to have the option of creating a subfolder per job in the backup repository because we had an issue where some files were corrupted and we lost the backup of the majority of the VMs."
"What must be improved is the response time to technical support requests."
"It would be a good thing to have some use case and architecture examples online to understand integration in complex infrastructure."
"There is a familiar error that pops up and that is a VM error as much as it is a Nakivo error. It says that the job couldn't calm the VM and restores might be impacted. That error is, to say the least, a bit scary. I have seen this type of error on other backup systems also."
"Updating VM Tools on a replicated VM could be better."
"It would be good if I could have a remote upgrade of our Synology Transporters, but the manual upgrade is easy and no problem at all."
"It would be interesting if it were possible to integrate a mobile app to monitor the system in real-time."
