Complex conditional quote summaries have been created and document workflows run smoothly
The best features in Conga Composer are how we navigate the merge fields and merge objects. We can retrieve data and display it on the templates, which is a strong aspect of Conga Composer and why we chose it to build documents. Dynamic data is a feature of Conga Composer that allows us to bring data from different objects and display it on the templates. This capability is particularly valuable. The main benefits I have seen from using Conga Composer are that while Salesforce provides features to build documents or cases that function as quote summaries, they have limitations. We cannot modify much or build complex templates using the standard features. After choosing Conga, we discovered that it already has many features that enable us to easily build complex templates. It works perfectly with our business use cases, which is why we selected it.

A user-friendly document automation solution that seamlessly connects to various data sources
Some of the administrative functions in the Hub could be better. The administrative function is the aspect of account management, invoicing management, billing management. It is not related to the tool itself but the ability to buy and manage the tool. The purchasing, the administration, the renewal processes could be better. Being able to have visibility into how much you use would be helpful because you buy an allotment of output. Let's say their tool allows you to output a thousand pages a month. Having visibility into how much of that you have used and how much is remaining can be improved. They have a very robust error-handling logic feature; not errors with their tool per se, but when you're building out templates, you can do conditional things that cause errors. They have a very good reporting feature for that, but they could improve that by showing some additional data points. Scalability could also be better. They could offer more tiers that are suitable for larger organizations.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature is the automatic generation of invoices and the ability to merge fields from Salesforce into the document, creating a clean and professional invoice."
"Using Conga Composer helps us send proposals much faster—within minutes instead of hours—thus improving our sales cycle by roughly twenty to thirty percent."
"The declarative features and automatic API selections are great as they help with pre-built documentation, query generation, template generation, and articulation."
"The most valuable feature of Conga Composer is its user-friendly interface, which allows professionals to handle the product easily."
"The initial setup of Conga Composer is easy."
"I find the Conga email template creation and the document template creation features very useful."
"Once you understand how to build the templates, it's a pretty straightforward process. It allows you to create both Word and Excel documents."
"What I like about Conga Composer is that it's much easier than Salesforce's native templating. It's simple to add merge fields, write queries to pull data and access up to four levels of related objects. This makes it very comfortable to get all the needed data into templates."
"This has saved time and resources for us on a gigantic scale, as we had issues with document automation."
"We can take what probably would have been a two or three-hour manual task and automate it to something more realistic, like a 15-30 minute task."
"Instead of having IT involved in generating documents, each user can create his/her own templates as needed. Individual teams can create templates for their group. This is a big savings, not just in cost but also a quicker turn-around."
"What we find most valuable would probably be the ability to connect to various data sources and utilize different data-source objects like store procedures and views. I also like the ability to build relationships between multiple data sources and populate documents automatically."

Cons

"Conga Composer is somewhat slow."
"Conga is getting more and more expensive."
"When setting conditions, it doesn't work as expected, requiring us to rework the code."
"The only improvement I'd like to see is the ability to hide a single column within a grouped table, which I couldn't figure out how to do."
"Conga Composer can be improved because it has a steep learning curve, especially for new users."

"For newcomers to the platform, the removal of certain suggestions in recent releases can be a pain area."
"Honestly, when I was a consultant, Conga Composer was okay, but then when you went a bit outside and wanted to take Conga Sign, which was called Conga Sign back then, but maybe they changed the name now, all those things were getting very expensive."
"The thing the product does not include is digital signing and so we have to continue to use DocuSign."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I think the tool costs around six dollars per user."
"It's not cheap, but it's not overly expensive either."
"Regarding pricing, I believe it’s around fifty dollars, but I’m not entirely sure. Overall, I find the pricing reasonable and am quite satisfied with the product. The value we get from it justifies the cost, as it requires minimal maintenance and is straightforward to use. The functionality it provides aligns well with the investment."
"I think it's very cost-competitive. However, I would like to see some additional licensing tiers for more enterprise-level organizations that have higher output limits, even if that cost a premium."
