Feature-rich stable tool with multiple options to control output, good integration with other tools, and knowledgeable support team
The core functionality of the tool is automated test generation of optimized test suite; the tool has extensive list of options for the same. The product's integration with other tools sets it apart. It has integrations with many upstream (for requirements mapping) and downstream (export of test cases to various tools) products. It is like "plug-and-play". For any customized downstream tool, like our proprietary automation framework, support is provided for custom development. It is has features - Business AD - to use in Agile implementations. The latest version seems to have support for BDD/Gherkin as well, which we have not used much.

Automation test development becomes accessible and effective for functional testers
Tricentis Tosca is a codeless tool, making it easy for everyone to understand the transition of how to develop scenarios or test cases. In Tricentis Tosca, analyzing failures is straightforward because every time it fails somewhere, I get the screenshot, which helps me analyze how and why it failed. It has all the modules, including some pre-built ones that can be reused efficiently. Compared to other code tools such as Selenium, where I used to develop one script in one day, with Tricentis Tosca I can easily develop one script in four hours or three hours, saving four to five hours in a day.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"This product helps with understanding the design tool for the test case generation without manual writing of test cases in Excel."
"Conformiq integrates well with various automation tools and auto-generates between 60% and 80% of the automation scripts."
"The tool has the ability to integrate with various requirement management, test management, and version control tools."
"Though optimized and automated test generation is the core functionality, the product's integration with other tools sets it apart."
"Conformiq generates a unique and optimized set of test cases, maintains them to the current application version by removing those for obsolete functionality, and, with proper integration to the automation framework, has enabled in-release and in-sprint automation for us."
"It allows manual testers to pick up automation, because it is a scriptless tool."
"The product's initial setup phase was easy."
"Software testing tool that has multiple features. It's good to use for SAP testing, and it helps reduce test execution time."
"The tool can be handled without any knowledge in parameterisation, especially the TestCaseDesign which makes the tool mighty and stable - even when releases in the tested software are subjected to deep code changes."
"Testcase design is most valuable, as it has helped in two different aspects, storing the test data in one place, and deciding how many test cases are needed for a given scenario using one of the inbuilt algorithms, thereby ensuring the test coverage."
"Improves the software quality in production by finding more defects with automated test sets, before transporting developments to production."
"We have seen an ROI because we are able to automate test scripts much quicker."
"It offers many features, such as risk-based testing and scenario creation using Kafka."

Cons

"We have limited widgets available in the tool to design UI flow."
"It would be helpful to have a feature in the tool's UI to map object locators within the system."
"Improvements on the List item widget and Table widget are needed."
"I would like to see the output data optionally used as input for the model, as further action in the flow."
"Even though the 4.1 version is a far-improved version from its earlier avatars, the performance of test generation is still an issue on real-time models we have."
"The solution is expensive."
"It did not improve because the GUI was not static, so it was not possible to write tests for a GUI that was in progress."
"Scaling can be tedious."
"Tricentis Tosca currently does not support any mobile testing and can be improved."
"In terms of areas for improvement, Tricentis has a variety of tools, even its test management tool called qTest. Tricentis Tosca does have integration with different Tricentis tools, but the integration is geared towards a larger organization perspective. For very small organizations that have minimal licenses, the integration needs to be improvised. For example, I belong to a smaller organization that has only one license, so the capability that the tool provides for integration isn't sufficient because my company needs to have separate workspaces. When Tricentis Tosca is going to be running, it is going to use that license, but my company wants another separate workspace to record, relay, and test. This is what my team has been struggling with, and the mechanism is probably there, but that needs more time and investigation, so I can't say that I'm one hundred percent certain that Tricentis Tosca, in terms of integration for a smaller organization is insufficient. Another area for improvement is that Tricentis Tosca is currently just a Windows-based tool which affects the market because nowadays, Windows isn't the only operating system, for example, there's also Apple or IOS that's moving much faster than Windows."
"When using it with iOS devices, I cannot start automation directly and must use a remote machine."
"The issue is that even though the components are tightly integrated, object identification can be quite slow, sometimes taking five to ten seconds."
"It is very expensive as compared to other tools that we have in the market."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The tool is quite expensive."
"The licensing cost for Tricentis Tosca is expensive. It has multiple features, but to use all of its features, you have to pay for additional licenses."
"It is expensive. There is also the training cost, but it does speed up the process. So, you get a return on investment."
"Although the product is slightly more expensive than tools, its automation capabilities and reduced scripting needs justify the cost."
"I would rate the pricing a seven out of ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive. It is on the higher side."
"Tricentis Tosca is an expensive solution and there is an annual license required. The whole licensing process is confusing and it could be made easier."
"If you are purchasing less than five licenses, then the pricing is high. On a scale from one to ten, with one being low and ten being high pricing, I would rate this solution at eight."
"The tool's pricing is lower than that of other automation tools."
