User features offer accessibility but documentation and technical support require enhancement
The configuration issues I face include troubleshooting that is not very helpful. I keep struggling with that and usually have to go to the Citizen data platform and the marketplace to get the answers I am looking for. The controlled logs and documentation need improvement, particularly regarding how to access class features that they do not control, and documentation in terms of customization and UI customization. Dashboarding needs significant improvement as the widgets are not very clear or usable, and there is not much documentation around it. To make Collibra Lineage better, additional features should be added to help technical users. They have improved significantly in terms of university courses in the last five years, but aspects such as AI governance and data notebook are not being promoted adequately. Data notebook is a very good feature, but there is a mismatch in the courses' speed and how quickly they are giving people the ability to learn about it.

Helpful support that is easy to speak with, reliable with no problems of instances of unavailability
There are three main areas that need to be improved. * The 360-degree view for the customers needs to be improved. The data should be more unified and cleaner. * Regulatory compliance needs to be achieved. * The governance itself needs improvement. It should be organized and linked to the data catalog and the business glossary, which would give a full view of the customer data. We would like to have the application available in Portuguese and Spanish. This is something that we have spoken with the vendor about.

Pros

"Collibra Governance comes with a lot of features, and we have used it in one of our projects for metadata management and data lineage."
"The client is pretty happy with the Collibra work so far."
"It is user-friendly."
"Collibra Catalog allows us to automate metadata management, significantly saving time, effort, and finances."
"It helps us build a powerful workflow mechanism where there can be any stewardship, including issue management governing assets using policies, regulations, or business rules."
"The data lineage capability is valuable as it shows how different sources are connected and how data flows, which is crucial for projects like migrations. Moreover, data lineage visualization in Collibra Catalog aids our data governance initiatives."
"It shows how the data was transformed on the way and how the solutions were derived. This is the essence of the tool and why it is so powerful."
"The workflow is very good and has been embedded. It also has a great user interface."
"It is an integrated solution that provides end-to-end capabilities for managing the data. It is very useful for cleaning the data. It also allows us to combine data from on-premises and cloud sources. On this unified data, we can perform some advanced analytics to predict customer behavior and create new products. Its management and governance capabilities are valuable. It provides full tracking of the data flow. It provides customers the full control over the data and the ability to protect the data. It enables us to provide the best service to the customers. We also get great support from Infogix."
"This is one of the best technical support groups that I have dealt with, as Infogix support stands out in terms of quality and response time, and it is really easy to speak with them by phone or by email."

Cons

"I'm fairly new to the product, however, what I generally hear from my clients is that the requirement around having ways to ingest more metadata."
"From a usability perspective, customers usually find some areas of the solution a bit complex. It takes a long time for the customers to get used to the UI and the interface."
"The licensing is one area that could get improved."
"The UI is good if you happen to be an administrator and are familiar with the technical side of the administration. If you're a business user, the UI is not good. It is hard to learn. It is hard for those who are administering it to teach to end-users and it can take hours of training to do it. Because it is difficult and non-intuitive, business users resist using it. It is a battle to get them on board and to keep them engaged because of the UI."
"Sometimes, if a client needs a specific customization, we cannot do it directly. The client needs to reach out to Collibra and request the customization."
"Collibra Lineage could improve connectively. If they can offer more out-of-the-box connectors, which come as in a package compared to you having to go and buy a lot in the marketplace for certain specific connectors."
"There are three environments - stage, development and production. Often things work well in the first two stages and then when you get to production, they don't work."
"If it can become more user-intuitive and work on integrating with communication platforms like Slack or Teams, it would significantly help business users."
"We would like this solution to be available in our local language like Portuguese and Spanish."
"We would like this solution to be available in our local language. In our region, people are not fluent in English. It would be nice to have this solution in Portuguese and Spanish. Its workflows are great, but it would be useful to have business flow at a high level because we need to work together with business users. We need more capabilities for business users to understand something in terms of data."
"The 360-degree view for the customers needs to be improved."
"The 360-degree view for the customers needs to be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Collibra offers a per-user licensing model."
"Collibra provides you with a license based on the subscription model that you purchase."
"I rate the pricing a three on a scale of one to ten, where one is expensive, and ten is cheap."
"I think they can bring a few more features and align better with other quality products."
"I think they have a trust issue. I did not like the way they recently went through the process. They were like, "Finish this SOW first, only then will we sign the other SOW." Or, "Finish this code." I didn't like that much."
"Collibra Governance is an expensive solution."
"I would say it's probably in line with what other vendors charge for licensing."
"The solution's pricing is moderate and not very expensive."
"Its price is much lower than Informatica. Its licensing is very easy to understand. It is not too complex. There is no maintenance fee. The support is included with the license. Its licensing is subscription-based, which makes it easy to define the budget and other things. It also makes it easier to plan and understand how to use the solution. It uses the pay-as-you-use model, so you can start small and expand the solution and pay as per your usage."
