We performed a comparison between Cohesity DataProtect and Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows [EOL] based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Veeam Software, Commvault, Zerto and others in Cloud Backup."Converged system. It makes much more sense to have the backup server running on the same hardware as the storage for backup and recovery."
"It is also very easy to determine which VMs are being backed up and which ones aren't. This is helpful to make sure nothing is being missed."
"The ability to essentially instantly recover a VM and have it run on the Cohesity Platform while all those bits are technically being recovered in the background is useful to us."
"Cohesity has very simple reports to help you stay in the know of which servers are being backed up or not."
"The system automatically takes down the nodes one at a time and performs the upgrade and brings the node back up before proceeding to the next. Upgrades can now be done at any time with a high level of confidence."
"We are saving valuable datacenter rack space, which is critical as we evaluate co-location options."
"By using their Helios Cloud service, you have all your clusters, no matter where they are located, in one web portal."
"Cohesity is extremely easy to use and intuitive."
"We found the initial setup to be quite simple."
"I don't have any major problems with the agent connectivity with Microsoft applications or Microsoft Azure."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to navigate inside a backup point to look for a specific folder or data you want to recover."
"The user interface is good. It provides a lot of information."
"User-friendly data backup and protection solution for a Windows environment. The Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows is very scalable, stable, and has good compatibility and integration."
"The solution is meeting all of our client's requirements. It has good performance."
"Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows's most useful features is the ease of use and user-friendly."
"The most valuable feature is application availability, which allows us to monitor all agents and accounts."
"Their UI requires a manual refresh. It doesn't seem like it updates itself sometimes when you're moving from screens or waiting for a change to take effect, so you have to manually refresh."
"At times, you may click the wrong server or click too fast and accidentally restore a cluster of servers. It would be very helpful to have a cancel option under restores."
"We would like it to have more capabilities for different kinds of PaaS or SaaS services in the Azure cloud, such as Azure SQL or Azure Cosmos DB."
"Reporting is quite limited and not customizable."
"The solution's dashboard or UI can be enhanced and made more user-friendly than its competitors."
"The GUI is in need of improvement."
"Reporting is one area that isn't as robust as it could be."
"Cohesity DataProtect can improve in the area of databases. We have had some challenges with both Cohesity and Rubrik being able to effectively back up in a timely manner the SQL Oracle workloads."
"There isn't really anything I would like to improve. Maybe the solution could be more secure."
"Maybe in the future, they could do something better with the user interface and the performance, but so far it's a really good, efficient solution."
"The compression ratio and application ratio could still be improved in this solution. Reporting could also be improved, for better monitoring."
"We can't use tape for primary storage on Veeam."
"Some customers have Oracle databases and Veeam does support back up of Oracle databases."
"An area that this solution could be improved would be with the licensing."
"The support could be improved a lot, as it is currently non-existent."
"A feature I would like to see is universal restore. At the moment, restoration can only be smooth on the same hardware. Let's say you have a server and you back it up with Veeam Agent, in case it fails or crashes. If you later buy a new server because the same one isn't available on the market anymore, there's a high chance that Windows will not boot up if you restore from the Veeam backup because the hardware is now different. Acronis has the universal restore feature, so it will work with generic drivers and you can restore Windows in any dissimilar hardware. As far as I know, Veeam doesn't have this feature yet."
