Achieve certifications with progress tracking and potential for enhanced interactivity
I was using Claroty to complete training assigned by my company. The courses were self-paced and helped me get certified in two additional certifications. I plan to use it further as I have a task list for future courses. It was primarily for certification and study materials The feature I like…

Scans the network and identifies vulnerabilities on each machine
Nmap is mostly helpful during compliance checks. We run the scanner to see how many devices are on our network and find vulnerabilities in those that aren't compliant. We also use it monthly to scan our network and identify devices that aren't connected properly. This helps us detect any issues related to the operating systems of these devices. The tool's most valuable feature is its vulnerability scanning. It allows us to scan a specific range of IP addresses and discover devices within that range. This makes it easy to identify devices and view their details. Port scanning is crucial for network management tasks. It helps us identify vulnerabilities by finding open ports that may be unused or misconfigured. This tool makes it easy to detect such issues. The OS detection feature is great. Unlike other tools, Nmap provides accurate information about asset vulnerabilities, helping us easily detect and address them. Using Nmap provides value to the company, especially during compliance audits. It helps generate reports on assets, updates on workstations, and insights into network activities and potential attacks. Additionally, Nmap detects vulnerabilities and provides port details, allowing us to close unused ports on the client machines.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I appreciate the active coding, deep inspection of packages, and data retrieval. The tool covers information about assets and attack vectors, which I find superior to other tools. Based on alerts, I create reports detailing how an attacker can penetrate the plant, both externally and internally."
"The solution offers comprehensive tools that greatly enhance your IT operations if implemented correctly."
"Claroty is very beneficial for learning and adds value to your resume."
"I believe the two main aspects where Claroty stands out are their ability to provide a complete platform and their OT-specific focus."
"Customer service is number one and the best."
"The solution's asset management is really great compared to Dragos or Nozomi."
"Claroty assigns a score based on how well you are doing in the course. If you skip a video, your score decreases, making it essential to watch the content attentively."
"The platform ensures security without imposing significant delays."
"Nmap is easy to use. It's a command-line interface, and the output is quite good."
"The scanning procedure includes UDP ports which sets it apart from competitors."
"Nmap is mostly helpful during compliance checks. We run the scanner to see how many devices are on our network and find vulnerabilities in those that aren't compliant. We also use it monthly to scan our network and identify devices that aren't connected properly. This helps us detect any issues related to the operating systems of these devices."
"It helps us secure the network infrastructure."
"The most valuable feature of the solution for security audits stems from the fact that it serves as a powerful tool with the ability to scan a large number of ports."
"From a functionality standpoint, it's robust and straightforward to comprehend."
"The initial setup was simple."
"Nmap's performance is great, and I've never noticed any issues in this respect. It really doesn't put a heavy load on the machine when using it."

Cons

"Claroty Platform only gives the vulnerabilities based on the make and model of the devices, so it doesn't provide any resolution or any detailed explanation of how one can resolve such issues."
"I've reported four bugs and three feature requests so far. The main area of focus should be on how attacks are detected. The attack vector information needs to be more detailed. For example, it's not enough to state that an SMB v1 version open can lead to a WannaCry attack. A more detailed explanation should help clients understand the various ways an attack could occur."
"There is room for improvement in the user interface to make it more vibrant and interactive, similar to IT tools."
"The product could be improved in terms of user interface design."
"If more AI features could be included with the Clarity solution, it would be feasible for everybody."
"We face issues in the alert investigation area because it does not properly give the alert communication patterns."
"Occasionally, I face a login problem despite entering the correct password."
"The graphical user interface is quite poor."
"The challenge often lies in finding suitable courses and professional resources."
"It takes a bit of time to get familiar with the solution and its options."
"The solution should increase the number of features under a free license."
"There are concerns with the stability of the product, making it an area where improvements are required."
"Customization is not very user-friendly in Nmap."
"Nmap needs to improve its scanning speed."
"The solution is not that easy for a beginner to learn."
"Nmap major operates through the CLI; there's no GUI component, and that's where the challenge is."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The licensing for physical devices is cheap, but the software version is expensive. The software version costs around 26-28 dollars. I was surprised and even double-checked. It was shocking."
"The tool is quite expensive."
"It's a bit expensive compared to other solutions."
"The product's pricing is fine. The licensing options for Nmap include perpetual licenses and volume-based licenses. For perpetual licenses, once you purchase it, there's no need to invest in renewals. And for volume-based licenses, enterprise companies can use it multiple times based on the number of users or devices they need to scan. It's a pay-as-you-go model, similar to how you pay for what you use."
"Nmap is an open-source and free product."
"The solution is open source so it is free."
"Nmap is an open-source product. You don't need a license to install it."
"It's an open-source solution. Commerically, only the support service is available."
"Nmap is open source software, which suits us well because we are a manufacturing company and not an IT company, for example. If we were an IT company, we would probably need to pay for extra support or instead go for another software solution. But as it is, we don't have any need for high-end troubleshooting tools."
"I am using the free version of Nmap."
"It's an open-source product, and I haven't seen any premiums. Options are available for those who purchase, but for my use case, everything I need is available in the community and forums."
