Has helped detect server failures in real time and improved incident response through clear dashboards
When I use PRTG Network Monitor, it shows which servers go down or crash, displaying real-time reports and related information. We have configured PRTG Network Monitor to trigger an alert if any sensor or server goes down for more than five minutes. PRTG Network Monitor shows cause and effect clearly. For example, when our internet link failed, it displayed which dependent services were impacted. The feature in PRTG Network Monitor improved communication within my team since everyone can see the same dashboard. It saves me from constant manual checks as everything I care about is automatically tracked. PRTG Network Monitor has positively impacted my organization because it shows cause and effect clearly. We can see the real-time dashboard and take immediate action based on that. PRTG Network Monitor helped us detect the failing RAID controller before it completely collapsed, allowing us to avoid potential data loss.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The machine learning feature is valuable."
"From a network point of view, we can see the state of the network, as well as bandwidth usage and downtime."
"It gives me a live view of the traffic on the WAN."
"The remote probes are very useful. They allow us to provide a reference across different areas in the network. In trying to localize issues, that's very useful."
"It is easy to use and intuitive, which is really important. It does what it says on the box by giving you a visual of the state of what is going on at any one time."
"PRTG is simple to manage. First, you can create a template for a device, then apply it to hundreds of similar devices. That's a great advantage."
"The tool is integrated with our email for the alerts."
"The initial setup is pretty easy."
"It is user-friendly. It is easy to set up health checks within PRTG and use scans. It is like a self-service tool, and anyone can configure their own settings within PRTG."

Cons

"They can improve the functionality that provides some numbers related to the behavior of the metrics."
"The scalability of this solution could improve as well as the automated provisioning of the infrastructure."
"Their penetration within the market could be much better. If their pricing was lower, even though it's reasonable now, it might help them achieve this."
"Maybe in the future there will be room for improvement, but currently, there is nothing pressing that I can think of"
"I would like the ability to monitor Cisco IRS devices."
"The technical support could respond a little bit quicker."
"PRTG Network Monitor can improve the reports. In the reports, you have to give an alert for that SMS and email, the emergency calls and downtimes have to be reported accordingly. You have to enable email services or an SMS gateway service to receive more alerts at the proper time."
"They need to address the slowness issue that sometimes occurs with PRTG Network Monitor."
"PRTG Network Monitor can improve by adding prevention and detection features."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"We have an unlimited perpetual license, so we just pay support costs and it can scale throughout the organization."
"I would like better pricing models for smaller businesses. The free version is fantastic, but it's too restrictive. If they could just get up to 200 sensors for a reasonable fee for on-premise, I would give PRTG my credit card right now."
"It is expensive."
"It's an annual license that is based on the number of endpoints that we're tracking and using."
"Pricing for PRTG Network Monitor is a nine out of ten. It meets my company's budget and monitoring requirements. My company is on a perpetual license."
"It's a cost-efficient tool."
"The pricing for PRTG in our case is reasonable because we have a lot of applications to monitor within PRTG. It is not that expensive."
"We have an unlimited license for this solution."
