Dashboards facilitate prompt alerts but discovery feature needs enhancement
I would recommend Broadcom DX Application Performance Management if a customer doesn't have any existing performance solution. However, ten years ago, the solution was better, and now there are many competitive options. My overall rating would be between six and seven. The product rating I would give is 6.5 out of 10.

Improves our application at the code level because of its different performance metrics
They should provide all the information of the NetDiagnostics tool details on the Internet. Or, it will be good if they could upload the configuration and monitoring feature detail videos on YouTube . REST API should be supported from the UI. As of now, it is supported from the CLI . They can improve on providing "help and navigation" for each feature available in the UI. In next release, I would like to see the application level monitor supported in some way.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"APM 10 Team Center provides a faster way to diagnose environmental issues and complements the existing APM WebView."
"We look forward to new features, because as technology grows we look to incorporate some of that newer technology in our monitoring solutions as well."
"CA APM has provided us a solution for this, allowing us to discover the root cause of some speed issues we had in the systems that were very difficult to diagnose."
"The graphic display that shows the variables in the time is very intuitive and almost everyone is able to obtain useful information."
"Standard available reports provide us with an automatic insight into the top ten situations to watch, and it would have been extremely difficult to program such a report ourselves, and to my knowledge no other competitor can match this functionality."
"For me, the most valuable feature is being able to check memory patterns. We check them when we do load testing or soak testing to see if there are any memory leaks."
"One of the great features of CA APM is the analysis of application performance problems."
"We are using APM for troubleshooting and because of this product, the delay to solve and to fix issues has been reduced by 40% on average."
"Application end-to-end monitoring: This is one of the good features available in the tool, as it includes error detection, capturing exception, method calling tree, transaction flow map, etc."
"Its end-to-end dashboard provides information on all the integration callouts happening on the server side."

Cons

"Stability could actually be helped because it is a wrapper or an agent on our system. If we are having a bad day in production or if other resources are being utilized, then we will get get gaps in our monitoring system."
"It does not help prioritize application performance issues at the moment, but the application and the product are working well."
"The Transaction Tracing feature can definitely be improved."
"It takes a long time to get it set up and configured in your applications and running."
"The technical support is very poor."
"We need more capabilities to analyze the information that tools collects; for example, using artificial intelligence, or something like that."
"It provides access to problems, but not to the problem analysis. You cannot track the problem to the root cause."
"From my perspective, as I had the opportunity to evaluate CA APM compared to other vendors, one of the improvements we highlighted which would be necessary to improve the targeting interface is to make it more user-friendly and current."
"They can improve on providing "help and navigation" for each feature available in the UI."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Broadcom is a better and cheaper option from the financial perspective. It also depends on the DLP plug."
"Dynatrace is the most expensive of these tools followed by AppDynamics which is "medium-expensive." CA APM is a bit lower in price than either Dynatrace or AppDynanics... In my opinion, if you can afford it, go for AppDynamics instead of CA APM."
"There is some research needed to determine licensing costs, based on the number of DataPower instances for the Nastel agent, for example."
"Depends on the size of the product you need."
"Althougth it is a bit expensive, it is really worth it"
"The pricing structure should be based on memory or CPU usage rather than the number of agents, as it makes the solution more expensive for us."
"All discounts are case by case to accommodate the client's budgets."
"The licensing costs are expensive."
