Reliable unblocking services have supported seamless access to protected web pages
The main use case for me is utilizing Bright Data's unblocking services that allow me to receive the whole protected web page via a simple API call. It is quite easy to use and reliable, which is important for large businesses. This is valuable to my organization as it is one of the main proxy providers I use in my projects and in client projects, wherever possible.

A predictive data analytics that lacks support for advanced modeling techniques
I find it challenging when I need to use certain functions and predictive modeling techniques in SAS. The procedures and data steps for database analysis take longer, and I've noticed that the current version we are using, lacks support for advanced modeling techniques. We've requested support for these advanced algorithms, but it seems there have been challenges in implementing them. As a result, we are facing difficulties in developing advanced models. Another issue we've encountered is that the community support for SAS is relatively limited compared to open-source environments.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The platform's ease of use is a significant advantage. The web interface allows me to initiate queries easily and returns data in a structured format."
"The solution's most valuable feature is its mobile proxies."
"The most valuable feature of Bright Data is its proxy server, which effectively mimics real human behavior, avoiding complex navigation in the browser and reducing server load during scraping. This makes it easier to scrape data sets."
"You need to set it up properly, and it does most of the work for you."
"The main use case for me is utilizing Bright Data's unblocking services that allow me to receive the whole protected web page via a simple API call."
"The platform is scalable and works well with large projects. I have not experienced any issues with scalability."
"The response time was fast, even when we had to run thousands of requests."
"The most valuable feature of Bright Data in the last few months has been their customer support and the availability of filters. Their customer support is responsive and helpful, especially when I needed a custom data set. The filters they offer are also great because they save time by allowing us to exclude unwanted data before pulling the full dataset."
"It has improved tremendously moving from providing an easy menu-driven system to also providing an excellent platform for developing and running full production systems, with minimal coding, which enabled increasing popularity among many non-programmers."
"We now mostly use the Enterprise Guide for such scheduling purposes, so error processes will not inhibit the others."
"SAS EG offers many excellent features, such as parallel execution on the same server, controlling output datasets in the process flow, and conditional processing."
"It is also compatible with other softwares, such as Excel."
"One of the features of the SAS Enterprise Guide is that it has a server, and we can access the server."
"This solution allows for simplified working with large datasets."
"The data cleaning part is valuable. SAS is a very powerful tool to work with and connect with different sources. We have several tables, and we are looking up tables from one place to another place. We are connecting with different data sources. The data is not coming from one source. There are several sources of data, and we have information coming from different sources. There are some flat files, and there is some information from the data warehouse."
"Areas where SAS EG does a better job than regular SAS are in the realm of importing and exporting data. For instance, exporting a SAS data set in Unix to an Excel spreadsheet on a PC is a simple task compared to doing the same task with Base SAS."

Cons

"One area for product improvement might be the interface's complexity for students who need more coding experience."
"Bright Data could significantly improve its support service."
"The quality of the solution's technical support could be improved."
"The Datasheet API has unclear documentation."
"The product's initial setup phase is difficult with servers, making it an area where improvements are required."
"The product could be more user-friendly for beginners."
"The problem with the tool is that it is not big enough...It is not that user-friendly."
"The solution could be improved by simplifying the setup process for new developers, as it can be complex for those without experience. Making manual settings easier and enabling a one-click setup would help bridge this gap. Everything else about Bright Data is fine."
"The technical support response time has been consistently slow, and this has been a concern."
"Our data warehouse is built on the Netezza database. We have SAS BI, and we populate the Netezza database. When we have tables with, for example, a hundred million rows in Netezza, SAS Enterprise Guide doesn't work. It doesn't return any results. It works for around 30 to 40 million rows, but it is not working for anything more than that. This issue is only with the Netezza database. With Oracle, it is quite good. They can improve its performance with the Netezza database. There should be one unique tool that includes SAS Data Integration Studio and SAS Enterprise Guide for more integration capabilities. With SAS Enterprise Guide, it is not possible to create connections and libraries and build transformations that can be used for other projects. This tool should have all capabilities that SAS Enterprise Guide does not have. Such a tool would be perfect because it will be used by developers and business users at the same time. In addition to the integration capabilities, they should also provide more deployment capabilities. There should be an option to easily create SAS packages and export them from one environment to another. There could also be a possibility to connect with R and Python. Open-source tools are hot in the market nowadays, and it would be good to extend its capabilities."
"It would be very useful if EG could be enhanced to automatically file and clear the project log to ensure non-stop running of the project."
"Sentiment analytics would be a great feature to add into EG."
"It is expensive."
"The stability is not very reliable."
"I had difficulty with the diagrammatic flow chart style representation of projects. When projects got too large and complex (which was basically every project, except the most trivial). There just wasn't enough real estate to display the flow chart and dependencies without a lot of scrolling, even when a flow was down to minimum tasks. My recourse was making the flow less "atomic". E.g., rather than use the various subset, etc., tasks as program nodes to display the details, I would write chunks of code that did a few things and use them as SAS program nodes."
"I would like to see better Charting in this solution."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Bright Data is not an expensive tool compared to its competitors."
"I don’t think the solution’s pricing is expensive."
"The product pricing is reasonable for its features."
"Compared to other proxy servers, Bright Data's pricing is quite reasonable. I"
"I got a type of free access, but it was through a referral from my friend. I got some credits free from the tool's end."
"I think the pricing is fair, if it is used in a business. The pricing model might need some adjustments if I am using it for a personal purpose, especially if I use it for a month or two."
"The product has average pricing."
"Regarding pricing, we paid about 1000 dollars monthly for Bright Data. We started with their pay-as-you-go plan, which was expensive as we were charged per GB. Then we moved to the 500 dollar package, then the 1000 dollar package. We considered the 2000 dollar package they introduced recently."
"Management liked it a lot because the license per seat was cheaper than a traditional SAS environment."
"The pricing and associated costs are substantial."
"It is expensive. We get a different price based on our corporate rate. So, I'm not sure what the general cost is because we got a special rate for it."
"In general, SAS has high prices, which is a reason why some clients don't use SAS solutions. The licensing is on a yearly basis."
"I did look at the prices a few years ago, and I believe it was approximately $1,000 for a yearly subscription at that time."
"It is very expensive. We have a basic license, and there are many features that are not available with the basic version."
