We performed a comparison between BMC TrueSight Operations Management and OPS/MVS Automation Intelligence based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about BMC, ServiceNow, Microsoft and others in Event Monitoring."We have one application, which is fairly large. In the past, we had Level 1 and 2 NOC support teams who were responsible for watching dashboards. When they saw an issue in the application, they would call Level 2 or 3 support and escalate the call, if necessary. Now, through the use of this product, we have been able to reduce the headcount by five people, as we are able to eliminate the eyes on the glass. We no longer have people watching the dashboard. We have events which are processed automatically through the system and get to the right people. We had six people in L1s, and now have one. So, we reduced five out of six headcount, which is pretty significant."
"It has provided us with a single location to host all events to be viewed/monitored by our NOC. This has greatly helped them to streamline their processes."
"The tool is flexible enough to be customized based on customer requirements."
"The ability of this platform to monitor the very diverse assets that we maintain around the world is its most valuable feature... We support a vast array of manufacturers' equipment, like HP, IBM, Cisco, Dell, EMC, Hitachi... We can do it all with [this] one [solution]."
"The major advantage of the product is estate management."
"TSOM's ability to consolidate alerts into a single location and provide filtering of alerts is great."
"I like the deep-dive detail and end-user metrics data. The synthetic monitor is the best one. The best point of the new one is that there's no need for configuration. You can inject the Java script and start to change major developments in the application. This is a good approach, and we received all the data using this."
"Its event management capabilities are very open and flexible. I haven't seen a use case scenario with a customer that we couldn't actually solve the problem for, so it's really good. There are some interesting things that happen in an enterprise network (things that people don't normally expect), and the event management product is very flexible. You can solve problems as far as your imagination can go with it."
"Once automatic IPL has been defined, anyone can perform an IPL with very little intervention. We know that all of the components will be started correctly."
"It's very flexible. You can customize what you need to, which is good. For example, you can do your own coding inside the tool, make your own scripting tooling."
"It's very secure, because it's a legacy application."
"Their technical support is incredible, immediately responsive, and even if it is not updated to Level 2 support sometimes, they chip in providing more detailed answers and options to fix the problem."
"The service has been wonderful. I like the people that I have had to deal with. The process is very straightforward. I call or use the website."
"It's a very stable product. I very much like the SSM stuff in it. The rules engine, it's awesome."
"It is an easy product to use and it is stable."
"I can and interrupt what's going on, bring a job down if I need to, and bring it back up."
"I would really like to see out-of-the-box support for monitoring uninterruptible power supplies."
"The product must provide application or service monitoring features."
"The solution is overly complex."
"The solution could improve its price."
"I definitely would like to see more improvement in the self-diagnostics. I need to know when anything is not working or collecting, long before our customer finds it."
"The knowledge modules could be more lightweight in size. At present, the installation packages can be quite large."
"The solution's support service could be better."
"I would like to see a little more out-of-the-box event correlation and expanded AIOps type capabilities. Where you can train your artificial intelligence operations to be able to memorize an issue once you encounter one scenario, so if you encounter that same problem, you can get to the root cause very quickly."
"It’s a complex product. The initial installation is easy, but implementing various functions is a constant process."
"One thing that comes to mind is the MQ interface. The last time we tried to use it, it seemed a little clunky."
"The GUI interface could be improved, but that is coming. They are working on that."
"Because of its age, it's a little bit difficult to modernize some of the integrations and some of the functions."
"Performing a stop/restart of OPS/MVS could be a little smoother. Without special coding, some undesired tasks will be started and some necessary tasks will be stopped if we have to bounce OPS/MVS during the day."
"It definitely needs more web-based interface, to be more mobile-open. More APIs, more open source to it."
"Some of the command sequences are too long."
"Scalability is zero. It cannot be scaled because of its age."
