Impressive flexibility and support enhance integration and performance
The best feature of Blue Prism that I value the most is the simplicity of their pricing and licensing model, which is easy to understand. The tool is very robust and, being a pioneer in the sector, it is also very stable, particularly in finance where many companies rely on Blue Prism for its reliability and security standards. From a developer perspective, I find developing on Blue Prism simple, clean, and intuitive, making maintenance considerably easier compared to other tools. These AI features have helped in developing scalable and flexible solutions for my customers, as I worked on use cases that involved natural language processing to turn free text into structured data, enabling automation of previously unautomatable tasks. Additionally, I processed voice feedback for sentiment analysis and information extraction, making interactions more intuitive and voice-driven for customers.

Has significantly improved efficiency in finance and operations while reducing turnaround time and defects
The most valuable features include process task mining where UiPath Automation Ops records tasks performed on the computer and generates output in the form of a process map and procedural document. It captures all clicks made, making documentation easier. Additional features include image processing, PDF file processing, Excel file input processing, data calculations, and cross-application data movement. Automation Cloud is a comprehensive solution, while UiPath Automation Ops handles governance, coding standards, and user access management. Automation Ops is primarily used by developers and support teams, whereas Automation Cloud is used for implementation and development.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The use cases range from document ingestion, process enablement, and data management, including financial records cleanup."
"The web-based designer is very user-friendly and easy to use."
"The performance is very good and it is a valuable feature."
"This API feature, which is available in version 6.4, has made our lives a lot easier compared to version 6.2."
"It has improved our organization in that we have been able to reduce manpower a lot, as lots of manual tasks have now been automated, and it has really been helpful in the field of insurance."
"We've automated web applications in the banking domain using Blue Prism. This involved automating long and complex banking processes. Every action we automate with the tool generates an audit log, which is safe within the LogRhythm environment. I do find the Decipher feature very useful when it comes to document automation."
"Its ability to talk to different systems that we have is a valuable feature. We use Pega, which is like a credit card processing system. We also use a Debit Process Manager, which is like the Visa debit application. In the bank, we have credit card and debit card sections, and we need to kind of investigate some of the transactions when customers are complaining about the charges. Blue Prism can log in to a different system to perform the exact actions that the agents are doing. This feature has been very helpful. Its ability to engage with external systems and websites is also very valuable. Each of our RPA projects could go across different systems. We have an in-house banking system. We also use the Visa network, and we have to go to different sites to do a lot of data scraping to ensure the data in our system matches the data in the Visa systems, and we just deal with some of the charges."
"It is a scalable solution."
"The solution offers benefits including defect reduction, improved lead time, reduced turnaround time, decreased average handle time, increased productivity, full-time employee releases, bottom-line cost savings, and enhanced customer experience."

Cons

"Its pricing is sometimes higher. Its price can be better. Its presale support should be increased. Currently, its presale support is very less. System integrators generally position Blue Prism in front of customers. Though they have an ecosystem, they don't have people who can train for the partner ecosystem. They have to increase the presales consultants for partners. In addition, their L1 and L2 support can also be improved."
"Its front end is not very good for things like screen scraping. UiPath and AA are very good for that. Blue Prism's license is costlier than UiPath and AA. They should be improving its price. Its artificial intelligence and cognitive features are not that strong enough. Cognitive automation should be their next area of improvement. The decoding of the bot is a highly painful activity, and this is an area of improvement for Blue Prism. It is tough to find variables and get the code in place. You have to open the whole bonnet of the car to get things in place. Their training should also be improved. UiPath and AA have their learning communities. They provide free of cost basic certification. As a result, you get trained workforce in the market that can directly work on projects, but this is not the case with Blue Prism. It is costly to get the resources trained, which increases the overall cost of getting a resource for Blue Prism. Their tech support can also be improved. Many times, the issues that should have been addressed by L1 have gone to L2."
"There are many reasons why many companies don't go for Blue Prism."
"We didn't find it much useful for unstructured data."
"The solution can improve by having a free license for evaluation purposes."
"They improve more in OCR, to read text more correctly, currently can say OCR in Blue Prism only works for less cases and is only effective 50%, so mostly OCRs of Blue Prism is very less used and other APIs or tools are integrated with Blue Prism for OCR techniques."
"Emerging technologies adoption is a challenge for every organization, especially the products which address productivity/automation."
"There are some new tools on the market that work better than Blue Prism. When Blue Prism receives information I have found other RPA solutions refresh the application better. At this moment it's not the best application."
"Bot task loading needs improvement, though I cannot provide detailed information about this aspect."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We have a three-year contract that is paid on a yearly basis."
"The license for Blue Prism is very straightforward, we only need one license."
"I would rate the solution's pricing a seven out of ten."
"Due to our financial structure, we need fixed costs. So, a license based on the usage would not be feasible. If we have a license model that is based on tasks per year or something else, it could create a very dynamic range of costs. Due to our public financial input, we have to know what it will cost. So, we have licenses per server. This helps us in planning, and we know exactly when we need additional servers. We can then request additional money for them."
"The price of Blue Prism is high compared to others solutions. It would be helpful if they could provide a trial version for new users to try. Other vendors provide a community or trial version. There are not any hidden costs."
"Blue Prism has a really simple licensing model, where the licenses are not confusing and there are no hidden costs the way there are in UiPath."
"The solution is not that expensive and a five-year license costs about 20k euros."
"Its price should be lower."
