Streamlines reusable data quality rules and has highlighted the need for richer logic and documentation
I worked in Ataccama ONE Platform from version 5 and now we have version 15, which has improved a lot. However, there is still considerable scope for improvement because Ataccama ONE Platform was not that great around 2020 when I started working with it. There can still be more features including writing any logic, improving more keywords for logic building, and enhancing address validation, based on my understanding. User experience is actually good; I do not have any complaints or feedback on that. However, the documentation part can be improved because documentation is key for any organization or tool. If anything is needed for understanding, you have to rely on documentation. Ataccama's documentation has potential for improvement.

Accessible from anywhere and easy to learn even for non-technical users, but needs more connectors and faster issue resolution from technical support
What could be improved or added to IBM Infosphere Information Analyzer is more connectors. This solution comes in a package with IBM InfoSphere DataStage and is missing a lot of connectors to various, new data sources, so IBM needs to work on that area. Compared with competitors such as Informatica and Alation which acquired other small companies to work on the connectors, IBM has not done any testing and has tried to develop the connectors in-house, but that's taking a lot of time. As a result, my company is unable to connect to a lot of data sources, particularly modern data sources.

Cloud data catalog has streamlined lineage and quality while leaving more automation to improve
I have not explored IDMC's automation capabilities driven by AI and metadata too much at the moment, but it is on the cards. We are basically creating the foundation, as the whole migration has taken place recently and it is still early days. I think Informatica Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC) is evolving, and as the vendors move forward, they pick up new concepts from each other. I have seen that products leapfrog each other, and from my experience over the years, the big players tend to copy features or add enhancements based on industry trends. I feel whatever the tool does not have now, there is a feedback loop allowing us to request new features, and we continually ask for different ways to do things as we have a pipeline into the product management team. It is difficult to say what additional features I would prefer to see in the next release of IDMC. I would appreciate more automation on the lineage front, with more AI to seamlessly join independent sources and create seamless lineage between different technologies, such as from file into database A into a different database and landing up in a reporting system such as Cognos, Qlik, Qlik Sense, QlikView, or Power BI.

"You can also schedule and run data quality on the critical data elements on the databases."

Cons

"I would not say Ataccama ONE Platform is one hundred percent stable. I would rate it at seventy percent stable."
"When hybrid deployment is done, it doesn't have an option to load any kind of file directly into Ataccama ONE Platform."
"Speaking specifically about the version we use, version 12.3, I'm unsure if this has been addressed in subsequent versions. One improvement I'd like to see pertains to the language used in certain components, especially in data quality checks. The language complexity posed a challenge for beginners. Although we had on-site assistance from Ataccama, making it manageable for us, some individuals found it difficult to comprehend, necessitating additional support. The provision of a comprehensive guide for on-premise installation can also be enhanced. The lack of detailed information on the solution's workings and the overwhelming nature of notifications, with extensive content, were areas of concern. Streamlining the notification content in newer versions would significantly expedite issue resolution."
"I remember one disadvantage, I couldn't load large database to Ataccama DQ Analyzer. One time I had one single database close to 180G which was not able to load to Ataccama DQ Analyzer, and had to use another solution."
"Data movement is a pain."
"It is complicated to fetch 20-25 reports when we profile the data."
"They could focus more on marketing the product. The current marketing strategy is not working."
"Although DQA can fetch data from most of the commonly used data sources, it has limited modifiers to get data, meaning that the number of technologies from which the data can be acquired is limited. For example, DQA does not support fetching data from Twitter or Facebook. Many competitors have this feature."
"As of v9.1, the troubleshooting process is still painful."
"The solution is outdated and is not on cloud."
"Customer Service: AverageTechnical Support: Not good"
"IBM Infosphere Information Analyzer, particularly its latest version, has some stability issues. My company faced some serious issues with stability and had to repeatedly go to IBM to have the issues fixed."
"What could be improved or added to IBM Infosphere Information Analyzer is more connectors. As a result, my company is unable to connect to a lot of data sources, particularly modern data sources."
"Stopped using it. Took a loss."
"I have encountered some issues using the substitution, which is one of the techniques of data masking."
"The tools required to migrate existing mappings and server rules through cloud data quality are not available."
"If I wanted to improve something, it would be the way we import or the way we design the policies."
"Some capabilities from the cloud version are not included in the on-premises version, such as the ability to create dashboards that show the whole of the metrics and the metrics of quality of the information you are analyzing."
"Informatica MDM could improve the interdependency with integration."
"The high price of the product is an area of concern where improvements are required."
"Informatica Axon needs more integration connectors so that it can connect to systems and different kinds of datasets."
"I would like to see more functionality added so that it is a bit closer to how much you can do with Informatica PowerCenter."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Our licensing model wasn't user-specific; instead, we paid fees for the engine and maintenance. As we didn't have a support contract, maintenance fees were likely nonexistent. Regarding the upgrade, we had an account for the initial two or three years, and considering the features provided by the solution, the pricing was reasonable."
"There is no need to buy a license. You can just download it and use it for free."
"Despite not being extremely low-cost, the pricing appears reasonable, making it a profitable and viable choice for companies that prioritize data security and adhere to specific policies."
"The product is reasonably priced."
"For the licensing cost of IBM Infosphere Information Analyzer, I have no information on the exact cost, but as it's bundled with other IBM products such as IBM InfoSphere Information Governance Catalog and IBM InfoSphere DataStage, the bundle is expensive when compared to competitor pricing."
"Licensing is difficult to understand, but the team is always available to explain anything. They are very helpful."
"Informatica MDM's pricetag should come down. They have to cut some costs."
"It's pretty high for us. It's more on the higher side, like low to middle high."
"The price of Informatica Cloud Data Integration could be reduced."
"The pricing is quite flexible."
"Informatica MDM's pricing is not cheap but comparable to other vendors."
"Cost-wise, I think it is on the higher side, and that is why we are looking for some better options. Licensing costs are huge compared to other players in the market and for my company."
"The product is highly-priced."
