Accessible from anywhere and easy to learn even for non-technical users, but needs more connectors and faster issue resolution from technical support
What could be improved or added to IBM Infosphere Information Analyzer is more connectors. This solution comes in a package with IBM InfoSphere DataStage and is missing a lot of connectors to various, new data sources, so IBM needs to work on that area. Compared with competitors such as Informatica and Alation which acquired other small companies to work on the connectors, IBM has not done any testing and has tried to develop the connectors in-house, but that's taking a lot of time. As a result, my company is unable to connect to a lot of data sources, particularly modern data sources.

Has consistently provided impressive data handling capabilities and robust security features
Some of the most valuable features of SAP Data Services include data extraction where SAP is the best in that perspective, but when it comes to analytics or the reporting tool, I prefer to connect with Microsoft Power BI, which is a fantastic tool. Typically, from an end-user perspective, SAP has a huge amount of data, in terms of terabytes of data, but when you analyze that, the best form of visualization is always through Microsoft Power BI. SAP Data Services provides a best-in-class return on investment, as SAP's vision and forecast are absolutely amazing. They are ahead of technology, building an ecosystem that meets the standards of the fast-changing digital economy. SAP is indeed good at all this now, with so many components such as SAP Signavio, SAP EINS, SAP Work Zone, SAP ALM, Cloud ALM, SAP public cloud, SAP private cloud, and BTP, all of which are essential to meet the latest cutting-edge technologies.

Pros

"Information Analyzer is still a good product."
"You can also schedule and run data quality on the critical data elements on the databases."
"This tool would be very beneficial if used before a data migration or BI project as an initial phase to know the data exactly, and to figure out all data possible scenarios which we might face."
"What's most useful in IBM Infosphere Information Analyzer is you can access it from anywhere. It's also pretty easy to learn, so even non-technical business people use it and found the solution easy to learn."
"For basic Business Rule Creation to cleanse Legacy data, it worked as intended."
"The solution's most valuable feature is the scheduling part."
"We now have a single ETL tool for all data integration."
"SAP Data Services is a very general tool for SAP as a source and SAP as a destination, and it can also connect to any source and any destination, which is a very valuable aspect of the solution."
"The development is faster than SSIS or Talend."
"It is a powerful product with a broad range of features."
"I like how SAP Data Services links reporting and data integration. That's what's most interesting. You also have the opportunity to leverage the power of the Data Services server."
"We can extract data at a table level, extract data at the ETL level, and we can extract data at an ODP level."
"The SAP Data Services EE License has all the additional products for enterprise wide data delivery, like Information Steward, Event Stream Processing, etc."

Cons

"The solution is outdated and is not on cloud."
"As of v9.1, the troubleshooting process is still painful."
"Customer Service: AverageTechnical Support: Not good"
"Stopped using it. Took a loss."

"We would like the different tools offered within this solution to be available as standalone entities, rather than having to purchase the entire package when we only require a few features."
"Some of the jobs that are built within Data Services require local files, and during initial deployment, those local files cannot be transported between machines simply because of security issues."
"The initial setup is complex. It takes time to get used to."
"The solution shows a lack of cloud support data services."
"When working with custom functions, many times it fails to execute (from 4.0 onwards) because of the data types mismatch errors."
"It will work fine only in an SAP environment. It could be said that the integration with other vendors could be better."
"The solution should improve connectivity with more source systems and target systems."
"The execution engines and processing engines have shortcomings and need improvements."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"For the licensing cost of IBM Infosphere Information Analyzer, I have no information on the exact cost, but as it's bundled with other IBM products such as IBM InfoSphere Information Governance Catalog and IBM InfoSphere DataStage, the bundle is expensive when compared to competitor pricing."
"There is a one time purchase fee plus annual maintenance."
"The license price is expensive but medium to large-scale companies, should be able to afford it. Other solutions, such as Talend are easier to afford for smaller companies. Depending on the sources of the data where you are receiving your data you could be paying for more than one license."
"Speaking about prices, Oracle and SAP are market leaders. So, the prices are more."
"Its pricing is as per the enterprise agreement and not a concern for us."
"The price of SAP Data Services is a little high when compared to other solutions. Due to the pricing and capabilities, many clients are switching to other solutions."
"The price is very reasonable."
"I rate the product price as one or two on a scale of one to ten, where one is a low price, and ten is a high price."
"Pricing is good, there is no problem."
