Reliable image backups have protected our HMIs and simplified on‑premises recovery
We have not tried the vulnerability assessment feature yet because we have a different set of protocols for our cybersecurity. We conduct audits and plug the gaps as part of our security approach. We are not using AI with the anti-malware from Acronis; we are using it only for backup and recovery. On the backup and restoration side with Acronis Backup, some on-premises AI features which can detect anomalies may be something which would improve the product significantly. Otherwise, we are not very comfortable with cloud-based solutions at this time. We are looking for products which are entirely on-premises, so they remain within our control.

Easy to setup, good support and stable product
When we started, we used Acronis for both cloud and on-premises backups. Protege was a reliable solution, and the cloud-focused approach is well-suited for our current needs. If you require both cloud and on-premises backup capabilities, Acronis is a more comprehensive solution. For solely cloud-based backups, Protege is a solid option.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It has taken a lot of the manual work out of replicating backups."
"The user interface (UI) is easy to use."
"One of its most valuable aspects is its user-friendly interface."
"The most valuable feature is that you can do a bare-metal restore even with dissimilar hardware."
"The administration is pretty flexible in terms of defining a multi-tenant type of setup."
"The AI-based antimalware feature in Acronis Cyber Protect is very effective in preventing cyber threats, providing inception into threats and how to react with them before securing, and is a great asset as a feature."
"The solution suits my business needs; it works perfectly for me."
"Fortunately, all of their backups were up to date and the recovery went OK."
"Since it is on the cloud, it is a very stable solution."

Cons

"There are times when the backups are slow. A faster backup would be better."
"It would be better if they made it easier to obtain images for laptops and desktops. It isn't easy right now to have many different types of desktop computers. This is because Microsoft is changing a lot of things in Windows 10."
"I got a couple of backup errors and it didn't really give too much detail, but the program was still running on the computer that gave the errors."
"On the backup and restoration side with Acronis Backup, some on-premises AI features which can detect anomalies may be something which would improve the product significantly."
"In some cases, at the time of reinstallation, some disasters happen. For the licensing on the computer the name of the computer and domain, everything is removed from the registry level. Then we have to install the Acronis from the start for it to work properly. Otherwise, the Acronis software will cause a lot of trouble at the time of reinstallation. That's where they need to improve the product. In the case people want to install the same software with the same hardware, it should not stop me."
"I would like to see better centralized management, because I use it across multiple clients. To have a console that centrally manages them would be nice."
"In the span of six months, maintenance is done at least twice and you are told that it is coming up, with apologies for the inconvenience. It's a distraction, and it interferes with the backup schedule."
"Error log interpretation will come back with some great big number, then it will want to go to the internet, but it is a silent site. Unfortunately, we aren’t able to really tell what is going on."
"One area for improvement would be expanding its capabilities beyond Azure-specific backups."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is comparable to the newest solution available on the market, Altaro."
"The pricing is significantly higher than it was last year, which is understandable since they have introduced new technology, such as transitioning from backup to cybersecurity."
"Our licenses come with a one-time yearly subscription fee."
"We have a Cyber Cloud backup license and we have on-premises storage. Both can be useful for our customers."
"If the solution was less expensive it would be better."
"You don't have to pay for licenses. You can pay per gig per month. It is pretty reasonable, especially when you do it per gig."
"We were on a perpetual license for Acronis Backup."
"The current subscription model of Acronis Backup compared to other backup solutions is not costly."
