What is our primary use case?
We use WatchGuard Secure Wi-Fi because we have used different tools as well, like Ubiquiti. The complexity of Ubiquiti is much more compared to WatchGuard, which provides more flexibility and is easier to maintain.
What is most valuable?
The configuration part of WatchGuard is very flexible. The threat detection and alerting features are very visible. Additionally, WatchGuard Secure Wi-Fi provides more flexibility and is easier to maintain than Ubiquiti.
What needs improvement?
The support response can be time-consuming because sometimes issues are very sensitive and require instant attention. Also, when an incident occurs, the impact can be significantly huge. A recent power surge incident significantly affected the operation, and it took a while to identify the root cause.
For how long have I used the solution?
We have had experience with WatchGuard Secure Wi-Fi for more than three to four years.
What was my experience with deployment of the solution?
Deployment can be done within a day, depending on the number of deployments. For a few deployments, it can take a couple of days.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Stability is generally good, but the impact is substantial when incidents occur. These incidents are not frequent, but they have a significant effect when they happen.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
I rate the scalability of WatchGuard Secure Wi-Fi at seven.
How are customer service and support?
I rate technical support between five to six. Their support response can be time-consuming, and when incidents occur, an immediate response is essential but sometimes lacking.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
Before WatchGuard, we used Ubiquiti. We switched because Ubiquiti requires more maintenance and has more complexities compared to WatchGuard. Ubiquiti is also sometimes hard to integrate with other systems.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is neither straightforward nor complex; it is somewhere in between.
What other advice do I have?
We recommend using WatchGuard Secure Wi-Fi, but when incidents occur, it can be very difficult to identify why they happen. Normally, the issues are simple to fix, but we recently faced a major incident. We are still trying to identify the cause, which is why I would rate it seven out of ten. Without this incident, I might have rated it eight to nine. Overall, I give the solution a rating of seven.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
