Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) Reviews

Our main use cases for Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) are extensive as it is our virtual infrastructure housing our 12 core applications. We have 1300 apps, and 1200 servers, plus now our DR project, so I would say BCP, DR, and production. Everything runs in Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2).

We have used Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) for data center extension and scaling workloads on demand, from production to DR. We had questions, but our partners at Nutanix helped us answer those questions and ensured we understood what we were getting into and how it worked. The process itself just took time; it wasn't difficult, just time-consuming to make sure that we had everything organized and that the goal of getting there was right. Once we had that, it was simple.

We have used Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) to migrate enterprise applications. Once we understood the process, it was a simple live migration. The process itself is about understanding it, learning it, and knowing it's not just that you push the button and it goes; you've got to know what happens on the backend. Once you understand that, it's a seamless, easy process, so we moved several production applications, cluster to cluster, here to DR, branch to branch. It's a simple process.

My main use cases for Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) was to migrate to Azure. We already have an Azure presence; so we wanted to be in the Cloud.

Nutanix benefits my company as it reduces administration work, allowing me to spend more time away from hardware issues. Additionally, with one single prism, I can manage both just by selecting the prism provider, whether it is Nutanix or Microsoft.

Right now, our main use case for Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) is that we're working on migrating all of the VMware nodes over, and we have some instances where we're using Prism to use visualization in our environment.

Right now, we are consolidating and trying to get away from, for example, VMware. We're working to streamline and reduce costs. 

We have been using Nutanix Cloud Clusters primarily for disaster recovery. We have a pilot light in AWS and we use that to burst if we have to. We are a Citrix shop with about 250 Citrix XenApp servers on-site and if there's a disaster, we could burst up what we have in the cloud. Nutanix makes it amazingly easy to increase the number of servers we have in the cloud, but when we're not using them, we could have it down to three nodes to do our storage tasks.

We have not actually used Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) for data center extension or scaling workloads on demand. However, we know it's there. I have increased the number of nodes we have and built new stuff up there and brought them up and down to see how easy it is, and it was amazingly easy.

We are mostly deployed on-premise and are just using the cloud for disaster recovery.

Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) could help with migrating our apps and data into the public cloud. We haven't used it for that, but I could see how easy it would be to have it up there and building it. I could definitely see how it would work, but we're not doing that.

We have not yet used Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) to migrate enterprise applications. It's one of the things that I could definitely see being able to do, but we're not doing that. The reason stopping us from migrating enterprise applications is that we are iSeries, so a lot of our stuff is on-prem right now.

The things I appreciate most about Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) are the fact that it's the same on-prem and in the cloud. I'm not an AWS expert at all, yet I can totally manage my Nutanix clusters, the same as I do on-prem. The fact that I can quickly and easily stand up servers or nodes instantly has been an amazing help.

Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) definitely reduced our total cost of ownership. We reduced our cost of ownership in our disaster recovery and we only have to build a small environment that we know we can instantly scale out. It definitely saves us money in the long run of having something that we know is there and ready, but we don't have to pay for everything that we're doing in our production environment.

The disaster recovery aspect of Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) is the part that's been saving money. We used to have a light-for-light kind of build-out in another data center in a different location. Now, we can pare that down to just a couple of nodes and know that we can burst it out when we need to.

Our use case for Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) is pretty much just general compute on it, including some VDI, as well as general workloads and databases.

The feature I probably appreciate the most about Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) is its scalability—how quickly I can deploy more nodes on a cluster and remove nodes. There are automation steps, and being able to do that quickly saves a lot of time.

The scalability and automation features of Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) benefit my company primarily by saving a ton of time during deployment and decommission processes. It allows us to focus on other things, such as optimizing platforms. In that specific area, Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) probably saves anywhere from 20 to 40 hours cumulatively for anyone who would have touched the deployment process.

I primarily use Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) for our virtual desktop, specifically Citrix Virtual Desktop for DR, and it provides the same experience as our on-prem Nutanix.

It allows us to use any cloud services, and since we are an Azure shop, it saves money since we don't have to have separate hardware and everything. It's leveraging Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) in Azure.

Our main use cases for Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) are that we're currently using it on Azure and have it deployed in a non-production environment to set up a cluster for our Oracle billing system.

I have used Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) for data center extension or scaling workloads on demand.

Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) has helped us stand up a few applications there; we haven't migrated our existing applications.

I have not used Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) to migrate enterprise applications.

The features of Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) that I appreciate most are the scalability; being able to spin up or reduce the cluster size based on the needs that we have has been helpful for us.

The benefits of the features of Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) for our company are that we're able to utilize it to scale up when we need it, but we don't always have to have those resources deployed if we don't.

We've been able to scale on demand. Overall, it was a good experience. We needed an elastic capacity. We use NC2 as a switch while we're building out our own data center.

My impression of the availability of Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) in AWS and Microsoft Azure marketplaces is that they have a very strong offering in AWS, although the feature set is not as robust in Azure, which is the cloud provider that we use.

Nutanix's license portability is a very valuable tool for us because we were building our own data center, so we've bought on-prem licenses and then utilize that for Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2). Once we have the hardware in place, we're going to migrate those workloads over to on-prem, so the flexibility of being able to utilize those licenses is very helpful.

The NC2 experience has been straightforward and easy.

It is for disaster recovery with Citrix VDI. We moved the workload from on-premises to the cloud, so all users can use VDI in Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2). It involves enterprise applications and workloads.

Since we use Nutanix extensively from servers and VDI, this is an extension from that ecosystem to the cloud. It is very beneficial for us.
