What do I think about the stability of the solution?

When VMware upgraded the solution, we faced some problems with bugs. I rate the stability an eight out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability of the solution is fine. About 2000 employees in our organization used the solution. I rate the scalability a ten out of ten.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward once you get used to it.

What about the implementation team?

To start using the solution and access their profile and applications, the users must enter their email addresses and passwords in the laptops they receive.

We need around twelve employees to implement the solution from scratch.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We paid a yearly license fee for the solution. Our organization has stopped using the solution because it was expensive.

What other advice do I have?

We took two months to understand and manage the tool properly. It is a cloud-based solution. Our client might have used a third-party consultant to deploy the solution. I came to the team after the implementation was done. We do not use the solution anymore. We migrated from VMware Workspace ONE to Microsoft Intune because of the price.

The solution is really good for a large company. It provides different use cases for the devices. Overall, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.

This is a great tool from a reporting point of view
Pros and Cons
  • "We recently integrated Workspace ONE with our intelligence report, and this is a great tool from a reporting point of view. In our daily business, we get several requests from businesses to provide an Adobe request for monitoring, whether it is for Android or iOS devices. The main benefit of this tool is that we can exclude the report for applications."
  • "There are some bugs that our team needs to work around. It required some API integration required because visitor integration was not there. For example, we are currently working on a tunnel issue, and VMware doesn't have this solution."

What is most valuable?

We recently integrated Workspace ONE with our intelligence report, and this is a great tool from a reporting point of view. In our daily business, we get several requests from businesses to provide an Adobe request for monitoring, whether it is for Android or iOS devices. The main benefit of this tool is that we can exclude the report for applications. Another benefit of Workspace ONE is that it supports many devices, which is a major benefit for us.

What needs improvement?

There are some bugs that our team needs to work around. It required some API integration required because visitor integration was not there. For example, we are currently working on a tunnel issue, and VMware doesn't have this solution. I think the R&D team is working on this, and I think this is something they need to look into because from the Android point of view, this is the major security tool, and these features need to work as expected.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Workspace ONE is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Once Workspace ONE is configured, the scalability is good.

How are customer service and support?

I rate VMware technical support eight out of 10.

How was the initial setup?

Setting up Workspace ONE is straightforward. In December 2020, I worked with the VMware deployment team, and we deployed this in 10 to 15 days for all components, whether it is Workspace ONE Access or Okta integration. It's easy to use, migrate, and configure. Deployment and maintenance require four to five people, including two solution architects and two or three engineers.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Workspace ONE eight out of 10. If someone comes to me, I would advise them to go with this tool rather than Intune. There are several benefits, and it doesn't cost much compared to Intune. Intune doesn't have all the components and integration we require.

Good inventory features, simple to setup, and has good technical support, but needs more service notifications
Pros and Cons
  • "From a remote management perspective, I like the management and the inventory."
  • "I would like to see more service notifications."

What is our primary use case?

We use VMware Workspace ONE for our Android devices. I also use it for handheld scanners.

What is most valuable?

From a remote management perspective, I like the management and the inventory.

What needs improvement?

In terms of Workspace ONE, we are migrating it from on-premises to the cloud.

I would like to see more service notifications.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using VMware Workspace ONE for five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

VMware Workspace ONE is stable. We do have a few outages, but they are few and far between. We were able to recover quickly.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability is a problem because we have a service provider who is supposed to maintain the backend with patching. As a result, when we want to use a remote capability the environment must be updated.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support is good.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We use Jamf, for our MacBook Space and our Apple Mac Space.

I prefer working with Jamf. When we did a side-by-side pilot, and I found it to be easier.

When I focus on one product, I gain a better understanding. It is the Apple brand, in my opinion. I now have a better grasp of the policies and groups.

How was the initial setup?

It's pretty simple in my opinion, but I'm not the technical owner. I was just collaborating with a colleague to assist him with it, but it was fairly simple.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I don't have a view on pricing.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate VMware Workspace ONE a six out of ten.

Provides more management capacity
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable feature of VMware Workspace ONE is that it can support most end users' enterprise applications."
  • "The initial setup is a bit complex."

What is our primary use case?

We are resellers of this solution. The general use case for VMware Workspace ONE is when we need a virtual desktop.

How has it helped my organization?

VMware Workspace ONE gives our clients more management capacity. It makes administration control more secure, saving them time and money.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature of VMware Workspace ONE is that it can support most end users' enterprise applications.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

VMware Workspace ONE is a stable solution.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

This solution is scalable.

How are customer service and support?

VMware's technical support is good. It can be difficult to reach the right person, but once you do, they are good. They are a bit slow but effective.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is a bit complex. Deployment of VMware Workspace ONE takes about a week.

What about the implementation team?

VMware Workspace requires approximately one to one and a half people to deploy and maintain the solution. These individuals are usually in a server admin or network admin role.

What was our ROI?

Our clients have commented that while it costs more for the year because of the need to add storage and servers, year two they see a decrease. They are seeing a savings of approximately 35% with the reduced need to buy new laptops and desktops.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Our customers are concerned about the costs. The solution is higher than they want it to be. There are additional fees beyond the licensing fees. You need to have additional resources, like servers and more storage. This can become very expensive.

What other advice do I have?

If you are considering VMware Workspace ONE, be sure to plan for the extra storage and server costs.

I would rate this solution a 7 out of 10.

Very good device management and good integration with third parties
Pros and Cons
  • "Good device management and good integration with third parties."
  • "Lacks a modern enterprise mobility management platform."

What is our primary use case?

We deploy this solution for enterprise-size organizations. We are VMware partners and resellers. I am the CEO of a system integration company.

What is most valuable?

Valuable features of this solution are the device management and the good integration with third parties. The product has improved steadily over the years.

What needs improvement?

I'd like to see a more Microsoft-oriented product with a modern enterprise mobility management platform fully integrated with a Windows ecosystem and the capability to natively integrate with SCCM for a common management for a hybrid workspace. The solution lacks a specific environment such as Windows. I would also like to see a more specific customization for each single platform, such as macOS, Apple devices, and the like. It would make the product more competitive.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using this solution for over five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is scalable.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support is usually quite good once you escalate past the first level.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is an easy process. It's more complex than if it were a cloud solution but comparing the platform with some other on-premise solutions it's quite easy.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Licensing costs are similar to other products and I believe the cost is reasonable.

What other advice do I have?

The solution is good, particularly the latest version. I would recommend moving to the Cloud version, because I believe there is a VMware offset version of the product.

I rate this solution eight out of 10.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises

Good tracking, with a simplified platform, but the support response time needs improvement
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable feature of this solution is the tracking of the devices."
  • "There is no Apple zero-day support for updates."

What is our primary use case?

We use VMware Workspace ONE for our mobile devices. We are not building Workspace ONE; we are maintaining mobile device compliance and corporate device tracking compliance.

We create policies, push apps, and enable users to download apps according to the ASA request and the company requests.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature of this solution is the tracking of the devices. It is not only available for iPad and iMac Pro, we can track Android devices and cross-functional devices in Workspace ONE.

It's a simplified platform for managing all of our devices.

What needs improvement?

There is no Apple zero-day support for updates.

The Apple developer option is not enabled in OEM, which makes it very difficult to manage the Mac devices proactively.

They rely on a third-party tool for the packaging, which is why they are lagging.

I would like to see Apple and Mac devices have zero-day support. It needs to be activated.

The Macbook downloadable license needs to be integrated.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We have faced some issues with the stability of this solution.

It is not as stable on mobile devices as Jamf Pro and Mac devices.

How are customer service and technical support?

They do not have 24/7 support or in-person support available in OEM. Any issues we have will take one or two days to get a response. As we are in India, the response comes a bit late and will drag to the next day or two. Will be waiting for at least two days for a solution in the OEM.

What other advice do I have?

I have only used it with Mac devices. Comparatively for Mac devices, I can rate it a six out of ten.

Highly scalable, very good technical support, with competitive features
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable features are the ones that control the leaking."
  • "The application itself individuals are getting annoyed with it. They are looking to integrate with ABB applications regardless of whether it is Android or iOS based. We are wanting to shift from this application because of the integration issues we are facing."

What is our primary use case?

Our primary use case is to control the email services for mobile devices and we are controlling that just to avoid leakage of the information for those devices.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features are the ones that control the leaking.

What needs improvement?

The application itself individuals are getting annoyed with it. They are looking to integrate with ABB applications regardless of whether it is Android or iOS based. We are wanting to shift from this application because of the integration issues we are facing.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with VMware Workspace ONE for the past three years.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We currently have around one thousand end users.

How are customer service and support?

I have spoken with technical support many times. I would rate them an eight on a scale of one to ten.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is moderately complex. On a scale of one to five, I would rate that a five. The deployment time takes about seven months.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing currently is higher than the competition.

What other advice do I have?

It is based on the requirements. If he has Intune and has the Microsoft license already in place, it is based on those requirements, and based on the circumstances. But ultimately it is a good choice, I would not say it is a bad choice. I would rate VMware Workspace ONE an eight on a scale of one to ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
