Simple to install and implement, with cooperative technical support
    Pros and Cons
    • "You can easily scale up, and scale-out."
    • "Increasing the RAM, and including physical cords would be beneficial."

What is our primary use case?

    I am an implementer.

The use case depends on the customer and what their requirements are, and if they want to use it as a SAN or a NAS.

    What needs improvement?

Increasing the RAM, and including physical cords would be beneficial.

708,461 professionals have used our research since 2012.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It's a scalable solution. You can easily scale up, and scale-out.

How are customer service and support?

Technical support is very cooperative. They are on par with what  I need.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We have AFF 800, and AFF 8700, AFF 2220, AFF 560, 80, and StorageGRID.

I'm working on all of the current NetApp platforms, such as the E-Series, ONTAP, and StorageGRID.

The most recent experience is with the AFF A220, which was the latest download.

    How was the initial setup?

It's a very straightforward installation and implementation. It's really very nice.

The time it takes for deployment is determined by several factors; it is not a simple, straightforward task because you must have a network ready from the customer's side and collaborate with the customer to develop a solution for his readiness of the site, such as the cabinet, networking, and cabling. Once everything is ready, it can take approximately one week to two weeks maximum.

We require two technicians for racking, and stacking.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I was doing some general research. I'm a NetApp employee, and I was going through and double-checking some thind to double-check the end of service, end of availability, and other such things for various storages here and there.

What other advice do I have?

Make sure that everything is ready from the customer's side, such as the management network. If you're using SAN, make sure that this only is working parallel with the customer because you have to provide the VPNs from the storage and you must have the host also already.

I would rate NetApp NVMe AFF A800 a ten out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
