Reliable and issue-free with a helpful onboarding wizard
The solution has been installed on Linux machines.  The solution is issue-free. We are happy with it.  The solution has been stable and reliable.  It is scalable.  My understanding the setup is pretty straightforward and that the onboarding wizard is pretty easy to follow.  I've never had to…

Backup operations have become reliable and reporting now simplifies hybrid cloud protection
Veeam Data Platform has Veeam Enterprise Manager as well as Veeam ONE as valuable features, which allow us to generate various kinds of reports that are required for the customer. Instant VM Recovery is a good feature of the high-speed recovery features in Veeam Data Platform, and Continuous Data Protection (CDP) is also a good feature. Ransomware protection is a good feature added in Veeam Data Platform from version 12 onwards, and the ability to create immutable repositories is also a good feature in Veeam. The analytics part of Veeam Data Platform is a good solution because I have worked on various backup technologies such as EMC NetWorker and NetBackup. However, I have not used the analytical parts currently but will check it out. Streamlining processes as well as saving money are benefits that Veeam Data Platform provides for the end user, as it allows for application-aware backups and database backups without the need for various kinds of licenses that other backup software requires. Veeam offers socket-based licenses, instance-based licenses, and capacity-based licenses, which is a great feature.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature is the ability to pick up individual files."
"The really amazing feature about Veeam Agent is that when you're using the central deployment model, you can actually use the instant VM recovery feature, which is really a pain point that I find some days."
"Veeam Agent for Linux is highly stable; we have not had any issues."
"I would advise others to go ahead and implement it; this is a good solution for disaster recovery, easy to implement and operate, and very fast at recovering the entire environment."
"The Veeam Backup and Replication Suite is very user-friendly."
"I haven't explored all of what this solution has to offer as I have only been using it for four months, but so far it's good and I would recommend it."
"It's simple to use."
"I like the incremental backups and their failover."
"Overall, this is quite a good product and I recommend it."
"I can't think of any improvements yet for Veeam because they are very good. It integrates very well with Microsoft applications. It is very easy to integrate. Micro Focus can also integrate but it's more complex. You have to know the product very well to be able to integrate. While Veeam, it's very user-friendly. You don't need to have certifications or anything to work on Veeam."
"Its simplicity and the fact that it just works are most valuable. We kind of set it up and generally forget about it. It does what we need it to do in the background, and it doesn't involve a lot of management."
"Solution-wise, I would rank the solution as being up there with the best."
"The restoration of files, email and entire servers have been reduced to mere minutes instead of hours or days, which it was at times."
"The most important part is that you actually know you have a backup of the whole virtual server."
"One of the most valuable features of Veeam is that the restoration is easy and reliable."
"The most valuable features of Veeam Backup Replication are ease of use, dashboards, and reporting."

Cons

"There is a compatibility issue with HCI."
"There are some roadblocks with the licensing. Right now we are dealing with an issue because we cannot merge licenses."
"I rate Veeam Agent for Linus six out of 10."
"The solution is rather expensive and I think the price is too high."
"The integration needs improvement. It should be easier for my admins."
"Technical support is okay. They could be more customer-friendly."
"It's scalable, but it's not scalable on every platform."
"The solution is pretty stable right now, however, we believe that the solution could be made to be even more stable."
"The product's initial setup process could be complex for application backup and database agent installations."
"Better reporting of replication job details in order to provide better insights when troubleshooting."
"The price is an issue. If one has a large number of servers, say... 100-plus, and wishes to add more, an exhausted budget may hinder this ability."
"The ease of use could be improved, but I don't have a very deep amount of experience in Veeam, so it's difficult to say what could be improved."
"Cross-hypervisor replication can be improved."
"The solution needs to have the capacity to address more legacy workloads. For example, things like integration with tapes."
"If a single file is corrupt then the restoration of the entire backup will fail."
"Scalability, as well as licensing costs, need to be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"There's the principal license for Veeam Agent for Linux, and then you need to buy additional licenses for your machines."
"Licensing costs are monthly."
"Licensing costs are $300,000 USD yearly, and we pay for three years at a time."
"We have purchased a license to use Veeam Agent for Linux and the additional support. The overall cost of Veeam Agent for Linux is expensive."
"The solution is rather expensive and I think the price is too high."
"The costing is very competitive."
"It's a subscription based license, which is started on a yearly basis. Currently the licensing is split between three editions: standard, enterprise, and enterprise plus. As long as you check the comparison between the additions and make sure that you have what you need, there are no extra costs with Veeam."
"Price-wise it's good."
"We dont have the exact licensing costs, but we pay for a comprehensive service package that includes technical support, cloud services, and data center services. There may be additional costs beyond the standard license, but I'm not sure about the specifics. However, I believe the yearly cost is around five thousand dollars."
"We pay for a license to use this solution, and we recommend that our customers pay for a license and a renewal license."
"When it comes to pricing for a backup solution for data centers, you do not care about the price. We just care about the service and want it to be reliable. In terms of subscription, it really makes sense. When you want to use all the functionalities it is good that Veeam did the subscription-based model, this is what gives it the most strength on the price."
"We have increased our scalability while being able to free up senior resources from recovery activities. I estimate our overall savings to about $20,000 per year."
"It is not expensive and I would rate it five out of ten."
"The pricing is good and affordable."
"The software subscription model can be once a year, or every three years, or every five years."
"For what it does, the price is acceptable."
