Reliable and issue-free with a helpful onboarding wizard
The solution has been installed on Linux machines.  The solution is issue-free. We are happy with it.  The solution has been stable and reliable.  It is scalable.  My understanding the setup is pretty straightforward and that the onboarding wizard is pretty easy to follow.  I've never had to…

Easy to use and mange with reasonable pricing
The main feature is a specific file type. If we want some PDF files just to back up, the prefix is very easy, and we do everything in Veeam backup. It's straightforward to set up. It's stable. The solution is easy to use. You can centrally manage it. It's potentially free to use.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature is the ability to pick up individual files."
"Veeam has a "next, next, finish" installer, and the overall deployment is straightforward."
"I would advise others to go ahead and implement it; this is a good solution for disaster recovery, easy to implement and operate, and very fast at recovering the entire environment."
"This solution has improved my organization because if someone accidentally deletes or corrupts something, we have multiple sources to restore them."
"I haven't explored all of what this solution has to offer as I have only been using it for four months, but so far it's good and I would recommend it."
"We are very satisfied with Veeam's technical support."
"I like the backup features of this solution and the integration is very useful."
"The initial setup was straightforward. It's not complicated. It takes around half an hour to implement, but it depends on the performance of the server that you are installing the backup software on."
"Mostly, the solution offers very good peace of mind; we feel safe and secure and know that we are able to recover anything we need to."
"The most valuable features are the flexibility and stability of the product, and the technical support is also very good."
"The most valuable feature is application availability, which allows us to monitor all agents and accounts."
"Technical support is good."
"We use Veeam Agent for security as well as to ensure we have a backup should the server or discs fatally die."
"A full-featured option for managing virtual machines with an instant recovery feature."
"The installation of Veeam Agent is straightforward."
"This is a reliable system that supports Veeam backup and recovery for Windows."

Cons

"It could use deduplication features."
"I would like to be able to install Veeam directly to Linux instead of having to go through a Windows server."
"It's scalable, but it's not scalable on every platform."
"There are some roadblocks with the licensing. Right now we are dealing with an issue because we cannot merge licenses."
"There isn't much to improve. They just need to follow the trend or the development of other Linux products. Follow in terms of making the product compatible with new versions of Linux. They just need to include as many versions for Linux as possible."
"There is a compatibility issue with HCI."
"Technical support could be improved."
"We are currently waiting for the continuous backup process."
"Some customers that are in the industrial sector are using legacy systems, systems that are very old and running on Windows 2000 or Windows NT, Windows 2003, and they're physical, they're not even virtual. Veeam here is pretty weak, as Veeam supports 2008 or Service Pack 1 and above."
"If you are doing an AIX backup then you have to use the CLI because it doesn't appear on the console, the way that Windows and Linux jobs do."
"In the next release, I would like to see it easier to implement."
"If I'm trying to locate an item to restore from one of the backups, I would appreciate the ability to perform a global search on the catalog."
"It is not always easy to update this solution to the newer version, so the update process needs to be improved."
"The scalability is not very good - especially when I want to backup Microsoft Windows."
"We went from a 30 second RTO to a 2-3 hour RTO."
"There are not many options available for AIX backup. They provide the agent for AIX, but it could be more mature."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"There's the principal license for Veeam Agent for Linux, and then you need to buy additional licenses for your machines."
"Price-wise it's good."
"Veeam Agent is one of the cheapest products in the market."
"It's a subscription based license, which is started on a yearly basis. Currently the licensing is split between three editions: standard, enterprise, and enterprise plus. As long as you check the comparison between the additions and make sure that you have what you need, there are no extra costs with Veeam."
"We have purchased a license to use Veeam Agent for Linux and the additional support. The overall cost of Veeam Agent for Linux is expensive."
"The costing is very competitive."
"Licensing costs are $300,000 USD yearly, and we pay for three years at a time."
"Licensing costs are monthly."
"For the licensing of Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows, the customer can choose to pay monthly or yearly. It's up to the customer."
"We have the Community Edition and I believe we bought a license for 200 instances. Veeam Agent is mainly used for our branch offices. Those only have one or two Hyper-V servers, so it's covered with the Community Edition. Basically, it's free. I remember Veeam 7.0 or 8.0 wasn't free, but the Community Edition is."
"The pricing is good."
"The pricing model is based on CPU and must be declared as Microsoft or VMware licensing."
"Pricing is based on license packaging and duration. Longer term licenses are less per year and license packages also offer a discount."
"We purchased a three-year license, and I think that the prices are ok."
"The solution is inexpensive, more so than other products."
"We have a license package."
