Has improved error detection significantly but still needs deeper integration with intelligent automation
I have been using Unomaly or LM Envision by LogicMonitor for a year for internal purposes. I personally don't use metrics to evaluate Unomaly's performance as I have a team who handles that aspect. The endgame has moved towards agentic AI. Two years back, it was supposed to be the endgame with ML and prediction anomaly. The world has moved on. Having Unomaly, even the best anomaly doesn't make too much of a difference. The endgame is now about the metrics of autonomy rather than anomaly. What is the degree of autonomy? What is the return on autonomy? Those are the metrics I'm more interested in than just having the anomaly. The world order has shifted, and the KPIs have shifted. They already have Gen AI and agentic AI features, but we haven't used them so far. I will continue to use it in the future for now as it's only been a year. We don't want to change anything internally for now. I would recommend Unomaly to other customers because anybody using observability can and should use Unomaly in the new world. I can't think of any types of companies I would not recommend it to because observability cannot exist without Unomaly nowadays. On a scale of 1 to 10, I rate Unomaly a seven.

Backup operations have become reliable and reporting now simplifies hybrid cloud protection
Veeam Data Platform has Veeam Enterprise Manager as well as Veeam ONE as valuable features, which allow us to generate various kinds of reports that are required for the customer. Instant VM Recovery is a good feature of the high-speed recovery features in Veeam Data Platform, and Continuous Data Protection (CDP) is also a good feature. Ransomware protection is a good feature added in Veeam Data Platform from version 12 onwards, and the ability to create immutable repositories is also a good feature in Veeam. The analytics part of Veeam Data Platform is a good solution because I have worked on various backup technologies such as EMC NetWorker and NetBackup. However, I have not used the analytical parts currently but will check it out. Streamlining processes as well as saving money are benefits that Veeam Data Platform provides for the end user, as it allows for application-aware backups and database backups without the need for various kinds of licenses that other backup software requires. Veeam offers socket-based licenses, instance-based licenses, and capacity-based licenses, which is a great feature.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Unomaly's anomaly detection capabilities contribute to maintaining system reliability; we cannot find all errors humanly, we cannot configure every possible threshold, and in the new world of intelligence and AI, we need to have this intelligent way of finding out the anomalies."
"Pricing is fairly reasonable and not overly expensive."
"The solution is simple to use."
"If you want to sleep at night and not worry about your data, spend a few more $$ on the Veeam solution, and I guarantee you will love it."
"This solution is very flexible and user-friendly — it's very good, and it's very good with our virtual and physical infrastructure."
"I have been in contact with technical support and they are very good."
"The most valuable aspects are the latest features in version 12.1, which introduced enhanced security features."
"Using Veeam has made the entire process much easier and I can quickly restore an entire VM even in a test environment."
"Once you get it working, it's fairly reliable and fixes itself."

Cons

"Having Unomaly, even the best anomaly doesn't make too much of a difference."
"We try to compare Veeam with other solutions because we are the operations. Then we can give the answers for improvement which is the specific additional system features that other solutions provide."
"The pricing is increasingly becoming more and more expensive."
"Backing up Exchange could be better, particularly Clustered Exchange."
"The whole graphical user interface is very easy, but the details are hidden deeply and aren't easily visible. You cannot easily see the details and explore or choose the settings. We should be able to easily explore various settings and options. If you can see more details while choosing the settings or setting it up, it helps in getting the software running easily. For example, in Microsoft Office, you can see much more in the interface than in Veeam Backup & Replication. It is a complex software. It is not easy to use, and you must know what to do and where to do. The user manual has more than a thousand pages. They should give some direct information through the software and improve the software. On their website, they can have some videos and step-by-step information to make us come straight to our goals."
"The database backup process could be improved."
"This product is for virtual environments only, which means it cannot backup physical servers."
"It still doesn't feel like a fully mature solution because it's not exactly ready for very large scale and complex environments with more than 1000 VMs."
"No issues as such with stability and scalability, but from the deployment perspective, we expect it to support a hybrid environment - multiple-edition deployment within one single Veeam Backup Server instance."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The solution's pricing is cheap."
"It comes with a higher cost and it is an all-inclusive solution."
"This product is not cheap, but it's well worth the cost."
"The cost is based on the number of core servers."
"Although our license includes support, we have only really used the support when we were using Veeam for Active Directory. The rest of the time, we find Veeam easy enough to use without paying extra support fees."
"When I did a tech refresh, we took out a subscription for the coming five years."
"On a one to ten scale, where one is very cheap and ten is very expensive, I rate the price as a five out of ten."
"I consider that the product's price falls under the middle range category."
