Lengthy support wait times, missing features, but effective simple task automation
We have over 250 use cases for Kofax RPA. For example, we use it for master data management, tracking, and data migration Kofax RPA has provided our organization with a lot of savings in many different areas and we have improvements in data quality. The most valuable feature of Kofax RPA is the…

We have reduced invoice processing time from days to 30 minutes, and it's done more accurately
It now takes about half an hour for each invoice to be processed versus taking two to three days to do the same invoice manually. And while I wouldn't say that UiPath enables end-to-end automation for everything, for invoice processing it does. Cash to payable is one of those things that UiPath is able to do from end-to-end, right from the point of getting the invoice from the client to the end where an email is sent to that client saying, "Your invoice has been processed. We have transferred X amount of money to your account." In some cases, especially when invoices are handwritten, we face small problems but, other than that, we are able to do it. And the turnaround times in creating automations are much less compared to when we were using Automation Anywhere. With that solution we were not able to do it as quickly as we can using UiPath. We did a PoC for an HR company that was giving appointment letters to about 100 people across its franchise. They wanted to give them out in one go and wanted some way of automating the process. UiPath had the tools that we could use to manipulate it enough and send the appointment letters in 15 to 20 seconds. And automation has absolutely freed up employee time. Now, people are only looking at exceptional cases most of the time, where automation is not possible. They aren't looking at most cases. Productivity has improved to a great extent compared to what it was before automation. People are going home on time and getting their leaves on time and getting to spend quality time with their families. They are happier compared to how things were. In addition, there was a lot of human error when people were entering information into the computer. Especially in an accounting situation, if someone inputs a four instead of a nine, it's very difficult to figure out where things went wrong. But with UiPath, there is no more inaccuracy or typos.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"You can automate browsing tasks without needing a server connection. The platform provides its browser, allowing you to run anything inside it."
"The most valuable features are workflow and process automation."
"The solution is scalable."
"The product provided all the security controls that we asked them."
"The drag and drop functionality is quite good."
"Provides valuable tools working in integration with RPA tools."
"The features that we have found the most valuable are the integration of different third-party support and productivity services."
"The ability to script information from websites is most valuable. It also seems to be fairly robust and reasonably easy to manage on a server-based deployment. We have a number of robots operating on the central server."
"Having something that is very flexible like Studio X will make it possible to change with our environments very quickly, very easily, very nimbly, and to deploy and redeploy as needed."
"I've contacted technical support many times and they are very helpful."
"I'm not that technical, and the product is easy to go into and use. It is also easy to get started using UiPath."
"We’ve improved our efficiency in a way for sure. Even just our cost analysis has improved. When we do new contracts, we know what it's going to cost exactly."
"The most valuable features of UiPath are Excel automation and web portal automation."
"The RE Framework provided by UiPath is quite extensive. It solves a lot of problems and gives us a lot of time back. We do not have to create our own framework."
"The ability to do citizen development is the most valuable feature. That initiative has helped us to expand it because that gives folks that are closer to the business the ability to develop their own solutions that are tailored to what they need to do, as opposed to waiting for someone in IT to contact them to build it out. Or to wait for a business analyst to provide some type of value metric, but they can actually go and build it themselves."
"It is as simple as dirt."

Cons

"It needs a free training portal for anybody on the internet to use so that they can get an idea of what the possibilities are."
"The scalability has room for improvement."
"RPA technology is constantly changing, and sometimes Kofax lags behind."
"Kofax RPA could improve web-based automation and there should be a choice of what browser we can use, such as Google Chrome, instead of an inbuilt browser from Kofax RPA. Additionally, Kofax RPA is missing an orchestrator that other solutions have, such as UiPath."
"The process discovery could be a bit better."
"The technical support must be improved."
"Its documentation is not widely available on the web. They should work on the availability of its documentation. In Automation Anywhere, there is a feature called Discovery Bot that automatically records the process steps and suggests a possible bot. I am not sure if such a feature is available in Kofax. If it is not available, it will be very good to have this feature. "
"There is really nothing special about the capabilities of this product."
"I would like to see more machine learning features and capabilities for more accurate OCR."
"While the solution speeds up the cost of digital transformation, doing so requires expensive or complex application upgrades or IT app support."
"Technical support could be improved."
"It could use an easy integration with SAP. Most of the processes of our company are in SAP. Sometimes it's kind of tricky to automate over it."
"It would be nice to have physical support, where UiPath can come to companies and do frequent visits for troubleshooting."
"I had a problem with one thing, and that was exporting activities packages between the test server and the production server."
"There was a security block because, manually, people still worked with the older versions, but the bot wanted the latest upgrade from the application, so in some cases, there was a delay or failure, or the bot got killed. It was a mixed bag, so I cannot say it was one hundred percent successful, which is an area for improvement."
"I would like UiPath to add built-in ticketing to Orchestrator so you can raise a ticket directly to the vendor inside the solution and send the error information. We have to build our own error-handling process, which is an enormous task."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The cost depends on the number of licenses and the number of RPAs."
"Kofax RPA is moderately priced but expensive in comparison to UiPath and Power Automate."
"There is a standard license needed to use Kofax RPA and the price is reasonable."
"The pricing model for automation solutions like Automation Anywhere, UiPath, and Microsoft Power Platform is subscription-based, where costs are calculated based on factors such as the number of hours used and the scale of automation required.......With Kofax, you purchase a license upfront, and that's all you need. You can create as many automation workflows as you require without additional costs for individual use cases."
"Price is not a problem, because they are a competitor and we have a special rate."
"The normal price for an on-premises license is €50,000. That's the price for one robot license. You can have more than one robot license but only one can be run at any one time. I believe the cost of adding a second robot is around €14,000."
"I don't have complete insight at this point in time, but I would guess that Kofax is a lot less expensive than Automation Anywhere. I would expect its license to be on a yearly basis."
"The solution’s license is not expensive."
"UiPath is a costly solution. Many of the clients choose another solution after hearing the price."
"The solution's pricing is a challenge. Every time I go to renew my contract, the prices increase. It is getting expensive."
"I think the pricing is reasonable. I don't think it's too much of a stretch, and I think it's where it should be."
"The licensing system is something that needs to be improved."
"The price of both UiPath and Automation Anywhere is high. The basic package is included in the price, but in case you require any professional or golden package, you have to pay a higher price."
"The main complaint I receive about UiPath is the pricing."
"UiPath is not the cheapest solution, it's more or less the most expensive one, but we get what we pay for."
"UiPath pricing is high and sometimes it's quite complicated as well, because there are loads of components and loads of product portfolios."
