Enhanced threat detection with integrated security features and good support
We are using application firewalling, WAF, and SD-WAN. The capabilities are mostly within the box. For example, you will get web application firewall WAF as part and parcel of this. SD-WAN is also bundled. It integrates with their SIEM and SOAR solutions very nicely. Lastly, the pricing point is very cost-efficient as well.

Web filtering and traffic balancing have improved security for SMBs but threat insight still needs work
I assess the machine learning capabilities of SonicWall TZ in proactive threat detection to not be at the level of other vendors such as Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, and Check Point. It is somewhere in between, so I would not recommend it for a large enterprise-level organization to rely on because it is not at that level. SonicWall TZ's content filtering service is reliable. We have used it, but it is not very reliable compared to brands such as Fortinet, Palo Alto Networks, or Check Point. What could be improved about SonicWall TZ is the threat intelligence, which by far is not at the level of vendors such as Fortinet, Palo Alto Networks, and Check Point. Their threat intelligence needs to be improved, as does the GUI, which is not as user-friendly compared to devices such as Fortinet. They could learn from their competitors by making the product more user-friendly. The product interface is not that user-friendly. By adopting a more user-friendly GUI, improving threat intelligence, and enhancing the available guides would be beneficial. In my understanding, in some cases, the KB articles and knowledge articles were not that efficient. They were useful, but they could have been more precise with the knowledge base articles. They need to provide more information about SonicWall TZ, specifically more documentation and more troubleshooting articles. Other than the threat intelligence and the user-friendly GUI, there are no other additional features that I can think of for SonicWall TZ in the future or at least in the next release to make it more competitive.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"The solution is quite safe and good, and furthermore, it is very good for different environments."
"Sangfor's tech features and technologies are more powerful than those of the other solution providers in terms of security. They also have big solutions in terms of cybersecurity."
"Sangfor has the best capabilities for securing connections, securing web browsers, securing servers, and general threat protection."
"We've found the technical support to be helpful."
"Particularly good in the DPI where we can inspect inbound and outbound traffic."
"The tool's performance is good."
"This product is very user-friendly, and its Layer 7 security is very much improved."
"We are Sangfor Gold partners and I'd recommend this solution for the SMB market, as it is cost-effective and reliable."
"We are very much happy with the support."
"The most valuable feature is the user-friendly navigation."
"The MSSP partnership program is valuable, but is still too expensive."
"The solution's VPN is very good for stability and detecting threats."
"I really haven't had any issues with them at all."
"The performance has been very good. Overall, the solution is quite stable."
"The most valuable features are unified threat management which provides security intelligence and the VPN for both site-to-site and remote access."
"With the new version, you also have more facilities and more features to protect your infrastructure."

Cons

"It would be ideal if the solution offered SD-WAN capabilities."
"Sangfor need greater exposer in the market because the market is mainly saturated by Fortinet. The user experience of Fortinet is quite different compared to NGAF. If we want to switch our users from Fortinet to NGAF, we have to convince them that the user experience will be much easier once once they start to use it."
"Sangfor NGAF could improve the policies and default criteria. They could be much better."
"Our experience with its customer support was quite challenging."
"I believe that IAM and NGFW need to merge into a single box, instead of there being two separate box solutions."
"However, the maintenance cost can be a bit high."
"The reporting and log management could be improved."
"The cost of licensing is very high compared to other firewalls available here. There should be improvements in hardware scalability, allowing for more storage and memory capacity."
"I would like to see a SonicWall integration with the DLP tool, this would be interesting. Data Loss Prevention integration."
"The marketing of SonicWall has to be increased. Currently, when it comes to firewalls, most people go for Cisco and Palo Alto. SonicWall should improve its marketing and branding policies to increase sales. Other than that, it is good."
"It could probably be more user-friendly, and it could be more scalable with releases and subscriptions."
"The reporting analytics could be improved, it is very unstable."
"There can be an improvement in analysis and reporting. We need enhancement on the reporting side."
"From a support perspective, if we're talking tech support I think Silver Partners, Gold Partners, Platinum, whatever level, should have a different number to call. End users can call tech support over at SonicWall if they've paid for support as part of their AGSS or whatever services they bought. The end-user can call, or we can call, however, I don't want to be calling the same line that an end user's calling. I don't want the same response time. I need a different level of expertise."
"I assess the machine learning capabilities of SonicWall TZ in proactive threat detection to not be at the level of other vendors such as Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, and Check Point."
"Its pricing can be better. It is very expensive."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We purchased one year technical support and return to factory support, and we also purchased one-year technical support services. So those were additional."
"The price is unmatcheable."
"It is one of the cheapest tools in the market."
"Sangfor NGAF is a cheaply priced product, especially if I consider the previous product that was used in my company."
"In my opinion, the price of the tool is good in the Pakistani market. We can easily get discounts if needed."
"The price falls in the mid-range, neither exceptionally low nor high."
"If you know you have around 200+ computer users on your network, then the Sangfor NGAF 5200-F-I model would be the minimum recommended model for that amount of users. This model includes modules for packet filtering, deep packet inspection, malware scanning, DSCP filtration, and many other features."
"If one is very cheap and ten is very expensive, I rate the tool's price as three out of ten."
"The firewall with the servers costs about 80 pounds a month. We get the device, and it is replaced every two or three years."
"The price is fair for the solution for the quality you receive."
"It is highly priced and has a slow performance compared to other firewalls."
"It is a bit expensive. We have to purchase the license and the reporting part separately, which makes it a bit pricey. This is the main reason why we have thought of moving to another firewall. It would be good if they combine both of these."
"The price could be better for us in Bolivia."
"Licensing costs have been around $2,000. There are no other costs above the standard licensing fees."
"It is an expensive solution compared to one of its competitors."
"The solution is moderately priced, where it's neither cheap nor expensive."
