Centralized collaboration has transformed API testing and documentation across multiple teams
In terms of improvement, the UI can sometimes feel heavy for larger collections in the workspaces. Additionally, performance may slow down with complex API projects, and pricing can be expensive for smaller teams. However, it is quite suitable for bigger teams. Other areas for improvement include better reporting and analytics dashboards, and more advanced native test environment features could enhance workflow, with smoother offline support and sync handling. Additionally, better performance for very large collections would be helpful, along with more intuitive navigation for enterprise-scale workspaces, stronger reporting analytics, easier management of permissions across large teams, and more flexible automation and testing report options would be beneficial. Small usability and performance improvements would make Postman Enterprise even more efficient for larger organizations. Postman Enterprise needs better performance optimization for large enterprises, more detailed analytics user reporting, improved API governance and audit visibility, simpler permissions and access control management, faster sync and loading times for larger collections, and more advanced built-in testing and reporting capabilities.

Organizing and sharing reusable API test suites has improved our team’s regression testing
SoapUI is really great for my team because when we are trying to create test cases and the requests that we are going to send to an API, we can create one SoapUI folder which will be XML and this XML is used by SoapUI itself. If we want to share whatever request we are running on my system with another person, we can export the test suite that we are working on and give it to another person. It is shareable through file upload and download. However, we cannot share it through a link or something implemented on the cloud. The best feature of SoapUI is that we can build a suite in SoapUI. When we build a suite, it creates a kind of directory where we can organize our tests in one place, and then we can share it. Another best feature is that we can execute the tests that we want to do on API level in a sequential fashion or in parallel, through synchronous or asynchronous calls. For the feature where we can organize and share test suites, because we have the test suite now, there are many things that we want to check manually. This suite can be shared with a team, and then the suite can be divided into parts or we can divide the work by sharing the suite. We can update the suite and then we can make a final suite that will be useful for next iterations. This has helped us in creating a very efficient test suite and a way to organize our test cases and regression suite.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature is the user interface because it provides a clear space for the URL, headers, body, prerequisites, and tests."
"Postman allows you to incorporate and export the test cases we create. It enables me to share the test cases with my colleagues, so I don't have to copy them into an Excel sheet. Postman lets me export the dataset and share it with my team. They can use my test case for their testing."
"As a standalone option, it's a fantastic tool, but it's very hard for us to collaborate using the solution."
"It is a scalable solution."
"We can also submit requests multiple times and it allows us to capture the response each time by using utility scripts."
"I like that it is very easy to use, and I also like the automation feature."
"Postman is better than SoapUI when it comes to usability."
"The scripting capabilities in Postman are excellent."
"SoapUI has really made that possible for us."
"We need to test the APIs as we build them. I use the product for API testing. You can do AWS security in SoapUI. With SoapUI, we can even perform mutual SSL authentication by incorporating certificates into the SoapUI browser. This allows us to send transactions to the backend downstream."
"SoapUI is really great for my team because when we are trying to create test cases and the requests that we are going to send to an API, we can create one SoapUI folder which will be XML and this XML is used by SoapUI itself."
"SoapUI is a pretty simple tool."
"The solution's most valuable features are the designing of API, Property Transfer feature, and Groovy plugin."

Cons

"The product lacks a good console."
"Multi-part requests should be handled in the octet-stream subtype which provides responses in chunks for files that can be downloaded and viewed."
"It would be beneficial to expand functionality with additional testing options."
"They can lower the pricing because small teams cannot afford it."
"One area for improvement is that sometimes performance is slightly slow when we are handling large collections."
"The tool needs to have a reporting feature."
"The performance needs to be improved."
"I would like to see more integrations with other platforms."
"If we could have more sharing capability within teams or its own structure, that would help."
"The product needs to be available as an extension for the Chrome browser."
"The solution should include some plug-ins to share the generated reports over email."
"SoapUI is not that scalable."
"There are more advanced API testing tools than SoapUI, and SoapUI could be made better."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We are using the free version that is available."
"I rate the price of Postman a four out of five."
"Its price is moderate as compared to other competitors. The version that we are using is not open source, so it is not free."
"I use the tool's free version."
"Postman is an open-source product. It is free to download from Google."
"Postman is a free service."
"The solution has a licensing fee which might be prohibitive."
"We use the open-source version. They introduced a new licensing model where your company must subscribe to their services if you're using it for business purposes. However, I think they charge too much if you're only using the basic features. It limits what your organization can do if you're not a paying customer."
"SoapUI is an open-source solution."
"SoapUI is a cheap tool that does not have an expensive license."
