We performed a comparison between OpenText SiteScope and Splunk ITSI (IT Service Intelligence) based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Application Performance Monitoring (APM) and Observability solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."Infrastructure monitoring is the most valuable feature."
"It's easy to template standard monitoring configurations, and automate monitoring configuration."
"It can monitor over a 100 technologies with built-in solution templates."
"Has a simple setup. It can be up and running within hours."
"For the system environment, SiteScope can be useful."
"The URL monitoring is excellent."
"SiteScope has built-in flat file DB, hence it removes the dependency of an external DB for higher stability."
"The stability of the Micro Focus Voltage SiteScope is good."
"ITSI's most valuable feature is that it's easy to integrate DLP."
"Alerts and episodes are valuable to me."
"The flexibility to develop and consolidate many solutions into one platform is great."
"ITSI provides a visual representation of complex tools and context, using color coding and other features to make it easy for anyone at the monitoring or service desk to use."
"The most valuable features are the mapping of the entities, which provides a comprehensive analysis, and the service analyzer for thresholding."
"The most valuable aspect lies in its utilization of predictive analytics to anticipate and prevent incidents within a window of twenty to thirty minutes."
"We have a lot of teams using Splunk and they would be blind without it."
"The glass tables are very helpful."
"Micro Focus Voltage SiteScope could improve by adding more features, such as cloud, APM, and DevOps monitoring."
"I would be very interested in having transaction traceability included in the product, to give us a better view of what is really going wrong in a particular method and action."
"They need to offer better technical support, which, right now, is not helpful or responsive."
"The tool needs to support new technologies like Kubernetes. It also needs to improve scalability."
"We'd like a uniform interface for monitoring our system, since that's the purpose of SiteScope."
"The lack of an agent means that remote monitoring requires multiple firewall ports to be opened."
"In terms of issues with Micro Focus SiteScope, some that we've run into were unintended, for example, extra executions of monitors and some false alerts when there were problems connecting to endpoints or there were issues with the application that sometimes resulted in false positives. We had a few issues with the way time zones were configured when the system time differed from the time indicated during the monitoring, but those were just little things that weren't too bad. As far as the limitations of Micro Focus SiteScope, the types of scripting files that can be executed are rather limited unless you go to some third-party plugins. These are the areas for improvement in the solution."
"It may lack some features other products in the category have like more detailed transaction tracking."
"It would be good if an interface was included in the next release."
"The problem becomes the price, as Splunk is an expensive product."
"Integration is the most critical area to improve in Splunk IT Service Intelligence (ITSI). It wasn't a great experience because you had to do a little back and forth to integrate the solution."
"Microservices is the only area where Splunk ITSI can be improved. When things come from one EC2 instance to another, there's a lack of exposure to microservices, so we can't know what's happening. Apart from that, it's doing pretty well."
"The cost of the license could be lower."
"It could be a little easier to use with the thresholding. We've struggled a little bit with thresholding."
"It was an intimidating tool for us to jump into at the beginning."
"ITSI could benefit from a security model that would allow operations team members to get involved in model building, KPI implementation, and model maintenance, while maintaining appropriate segregation of duties."
