Good attribute attachment but problems with collaboration
I primarily use OpenText ProVision to create our end-to-end process repository and library for different parts of the organization, capturing the collaboration process to get the right inputs OpenText ProVision's best feature is the capability to attach a variety of attributes and extract and…

Effective lifecycle management improves with strong version control and deep integration needs
There is room for improvement in implementing features fully. The user interface is inconsistent and outdated. It appears that different departments or locations have implemented features differently, leading to inconsistency. There is a significant need for improved integration, particularly using OSLC for connecting with other tools like SAP ERP or ALM tools. The version control, while consistent, lacks flexibility regarding changes in CAD data and requires manual intervention for BOM management analysis.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The stability of the product is very good."
"I like that all the features come as part of a standard license and that one license covers everything."
"OpenText ProVision's best feature is the capability to attach a variety of attributes and extract and analyze that information."
"I like how the product integrates with other technical solutions."
"The strong point of Windchill is its close connection between the CAD structure and the bill of materials structure."
"The version control maintains consistent versions, which is beneficial."
"Customer Service: PTC customer service was fantastic until our company got cheap during our chapter 11 phase and tried not paying the bills to PTC."

Cons

"There are a number of drawbacks. Mainly, the collaboration is lacking to some extent - at least when it comes to how we are using it."
"Integrating with or interfacing with other tools like data management tools would be very helpful."
"Lacks the ability to have your own in-house developments."
"OpenText ProVision's collaboration management is quite complicated and difficult to use."
"My main complaint is that the solution is not open source in the sense that you can't have your own in-house developments."
"I would not recommend doing business with PTC regardless of the product."
"Intralink needs to work better with various file formats. Also the publishing and viewing process needs to be simplified so that data can easily be shared outside of the CAD department."
"Some parts of the system are exclusive, so we can't work with them."
"There is room for improvement in implementing features fully."
